Macworld 2010. So beginning of this January.derder said:So whats the current project released date of 3.0?
Wha? Probably this week or next, considering iTunes with 3.0 support was released just a few days ago.giga said:Macworld 2010. So beginning of this January.
Probably next to nothing. The original EDGE iPhone owners actually owned the phone (they paid MSRP when they signed the contract). Current iPhone 3G owners don't own their phone (in AT&T's eyes) until after the completion of their two year contract due to the subsidized price they offered the phone for.VanMardigan said:So what are the chances that AT&T will allow iPhone 3g users to upgrade after one year like they did with OG iPhone users?
Waaaait wait wait wait. Does that mean that I can't go buy a new iPhone when it comes out and just add on another 2 years to my AT&T contract? I have to actually wait until the contract expires to buy a new one? Or are you referring to upgrading to the new phone but getting an upgrade discount?Epix said:Probably next to nothing. Of course, you can always buy the new iPhone when it comes out.....for full price. You won't be allowed to break your current contract and sign a new one without a fee and you won't get any subsidized $199/$299 price without a new contract. The way AT&T views current iPhone 3G owners is that "you still owe us for the phone you have, pay that off and we can give you another discount." The doesn't mean they wont sell you a $699 dollar phone.WordAssassin said:Waaaait wait wait wait. In my experience AT&T usually lets you upgrade after a year of use on a two year contract. They of course expect you to sign another 2 year contract but it usually isn't that hard to do.VanMardigan said:So what are the chances that AT&T will allow iPhone 3g users to upgrade after one year like they did with OG iPhone users?
As expected, my wife picked up her white 16GB phone (she loves it) and I selfishly would like one of these new iPhones once they come out. I know iPhones have high resale value on Ebay, so I'd sell mine there, but I'd still want some sort of carrier discount even though I have almost a year left on my contract.
I know math so.....Liu Kang Baking A Pie said:No one knows what's going to happen. Stop talking about that.

I don't feel you are missing much with 3G. I feel whatever you gain in speed you lose more in battery life. It also doesn't help that 3G users have to pay $10 extra a month for data.Juice said:Feeling pretty good about that decision.
Wait, are you really confident about a front facing camera? I can't even make out a lens cover in that pic from cult of mac...Juice said:Feeling pretty good about that decision.
Well when you put it like that haha.Juice said:Wait, you'll feel bad for AT&T if they choose to prevent people from stepping into a new era of mobile communication and people find a way to do it anyway?
...
Aaargh no no no! That means I'd be stuck with the 3G until like 2010 X__XEpix said:Of course, you can always buy the new iPhone when it comes out.....for full price. This is what they did for me when the 3G came out. I still had a year or two left on my contract (don't even remember the terms of my contract when I got the EDGE iphone....) and they said they'd just tack on 2 more years to what I was already contracted with. I hope to GOD they let me do this again....!bionic77 said:In my experience AT&T usually lets you upgrade after a year of use on a two year contract. If they ever give you any shit just say you want to get out of your contract and are willing to pay for the termination fee. I have done that 2x and on both occasions a manager called me back within 15 minutes and gave me whatever I was asking for.

:lol will you sit out the year again if there is none?Juice said:I'm not confident about a front-facing camera. Only confident in two things:
1. A huge credit card bill if there is one.
2. A lot of me complaining on GAF if there isn't one.

All I really want in a new iPhone is 3G, GPS, and a better camera. Video capture is just an added bonus. The first two points are covered by the iPhone 3G and the last two through all the rumors seems to be a given for the new iPhone. So I'm good to go!

if they're going to promote the supposed iChat video feature of the iPhone, why show the already old microphone image? why not show a person on the screen?

I lost mine and don't know if I should wait.

I feel like that can be every reply in this thread.

What if it's like the iPod nano posts where there are 3 or 4 iphones next to eachother all with something different on the screen?
Not always.LCfiner said:possible. but those shots always had some overlap. dating back to the ipod mini.
Ashhong said:I'm saying record mode as in voice record. So in a sense that screen would be matching it. It could be a series of ads showing off different features in each. I don't think it's out of the question to think they use a green light to say the phone is recording.
LCfiner said:I just think the combination of the green light that is supposed to elicit the response that Juice had (ooh, ichat!) combined with absolutely no new images for the screen image makes it a likely fake.
