I haven't read the thread lately but is there any fix to this super-fast battery draining thanks to the shitty firmware 3.0?
Turn off push notifications. Not sure why people don't understand that push notifications are heavily battery draining.

Be careful if you have an Invisible Shield on your phone.
I Installed a Incase Slider with my iTouch after having put the Invisible Shield, an the case is now stuck on the shield, with no way to release it.
The Shield has too much grip and the case is too tight ^^

How hard is it to apply the invisi-shield? Everytime I try and apply a clear (powersupport) screen film I get bubbles and I tear the thing off in frustration.

It depends, you can buy a replacement but you won't get the same discount as if you signed up for a new plan. If you bought your 3G with a apple care plan you might be able to get it replaced but Apple might replace it with another 3G. If I worked at Apple I would just charge you the 199 for the 3GS since you are cute.

Tragically this is impossible to override. :P

To avoid this, put some warm water in an empty spray bottle you have lying around, ad a few drops of Johnson baby shampoo (the no tears stuff, it's ph neutral). Spray the film lightly before aligning it to your screen, then using your thumb, work a line horizontally across the centre of film. Then work your way towards the top, then from the centre to the bottom.

You will get a small amount of water leak out the edges where you have pushed it out, so have a tissue near by to wipe away excess. Use standard dishwashing liquid if you have no baby shampoo.

Don't do this to a 3GS. Even the standard iPhone really has no need for this, the glass quality is high enough to not require it.

This sounds a little dangerous? I mean won't some of the liquid fall into the earpiece/speaker? Wouldn't that be bad?

Seriously, screen savers are a joke. I have owned an iPhone since Iday 2007. Just treat it right. There will be no problem. I have had an iphone since release, and they get in more dirt trouble, wearing a case. Although, I have just discovered an incase case, and I am in love. I take my 3Gs out every week and clean it, and there is no scratches or marks due to the case. I gained an erection from this.

Is there a way to scroll faster down a webpage than simply flicking through?

Also, is there a way to get flash to work?

despite liu kangs laughs, if you have it jailbroken then yes, sort of.

everyone should just buy bodyguardz. its fucking awesome.

ive applied many shields and the amount of liquid that can fall into those holes is very little. doesnt do any damage whatsoever.

You are not using much. Place a tissue over the earpiece if you are concerned. Seriously though, this is how you apply thin vinyl without bubbles. Doing it dry is nigh on impossible without proper tools, which are not supplied.

Like The_Reckoning said though, the iPhone glass is amazing and you do not need to ruin it with an overlay. How many iPhone engineers worked on making that glass have the right amount of finger resistance for people to ruin it with a piece of film.

I put one on my iPod 5.5 but only because the face was plastic, not glass.

The I.S. is delivered with a package containing some water-soapy lotion, and a thing to get rid of the bubbles when the IS is placed. If you follow the instructions and do it calmly, there is no reason to fail ^^
But I confirm what The_Reckoning said. iPhone's screen is really hard to damage, and if you're careful you won't have any problem.

BUT the back piece is incredibly hard to get correct. if its anything like the bodyguardz, which i think it is, the corners will give you hell, especially if u cant do the screen properly. i couldnt get the corners right until after i had done many phones.

My fiancee just bought a 3GS on Friday. And it's having the problem where it will just randomly reboot. Like, constantly. Granted, she's doing a lot of switching between apps and playing games and listening to music at the same time but I've never seen it quite this bad. Any advice? Or should she just make an appointment at the Genius Bar?

I assume you've already done a restore? If yes, I'd say take it back.

Not yet, that's the next step -- would we restore it from the original settings? It started doing this literally right after her first sync, so there's only one backup.

Yeah, I'd recommend doing it with the first sync, and if you still have issues, try the restore without a back-up at all, just in case the back-up was bad. Definitely worth a try.

I'd have to disagree here.

The Power Support Anti-Glare Flim takes the iPhone's screen to another level for three specific reasons. One, the protector reduces glare from the sun noticeably. Two, it is virtually fingerprint and smudge proof. Three, and most importantly, sliding your fingers around that film is extraordinarily smoother than the 3GS glass making it a much more enjoyable for gaming.

Link to the product is here, and it's worth every penny: http://store.apple.com/us/product/TS504LL/A

I have an anti-glare protector, and I absolutely love it.

Got an app question. Is there an APP where I can take TXT files from my computer and take them with me? Nothing fancy like DOCs, or anything. Just plain TXT files. I know that the iPhone has notes, but I don't like the interface as much.

textReader should do it if you haven't looked into that yet.

After 2 week wait, finally got the Griffin Reveal hard case on my 3GS. It's a thing of beauty being able to see the back of the iPhone through the clear back plastic. The screen protector that came with it is excellent too.

My dad was very, very annoyed that he couldn't save and edit text files that he could just sync back to his computer. Do those jailbreak apps do that?

No idea since I haven't tried them. I wouldn't understand why somebody wouldn't let you able to do it, try it out though.

There are legit apps for that, such as TextGuru. Probably a hundred others.

Ok I restored and synched her stuff but now it won't put any of the applications back on her phone -- says an unknown error occurred and it just won't synch those. It'll get everything else just not apps. Any ideas? :\

Make sure the phone has her iTunes Store account login info on it? If not, restore without using a backup, if you didn't already do that. The backup might not be playing nice.

Agreed. This is the only worthy screen cover.

$2 to get around the 10mb limit?
Sold.

3G Unrestrictor is great!

Has anyone done any research regarding using powersupport anti-glare screen savers on the 3GS? Since the 3GS has a anti-fingerprint coating, are the screensavers damaging to this coating?

Greetings and salutations, NeoGAF.com,

Could you please help me with this most displeasing debacle?
Me and my cohort, Dr. Cookie Lebensraum are looking to get some things done and we need to enlist the services of a productivity iPhone App.

We are debating between Things and AwesomeNote. Also Pocket Informant is an option but looks slightly too complicated. Things has been around the longest,
however I'm not too fond of the $10 price tag. The UI on Awesome Note gives me boners and I get the vibe that they'll update it with the ability to sync soon enough.
They seem like those kind of dudes. But it's only a note app, Things seems like a step up, and then PI seems like an all-in-one, but I don't organize my day as obsessively as it seems like that app demands.

Help me good fellows!

So I'm going on vacation to Austria in a couple days and I would like to take my Iphone with me for music purposes and also if I need to use a phone up there ( swapping SIM cards ) but I'm faced with a tiny dilema.

I don't wanna do something stupid like leave my data on while I'm gone and have a thousand dollar bill due to roaming charges. So I'm wondering if their are some work arounds like putting the phone in airplane mode until I can get a local SIM card so I can have my music for the plane ride. Also I forgot the tool that opens the SIM card dock so can I do it with like a toothpick or something?

Thanks in advance

I use Evernote, free app that can sync text, photo and voice notes to a PC/Mac client. Extremely user friendly and practical.

Evernote is solid and is what I'm going to use until I can reach a valid decision, but Awesome Note is just so.... Awesome. If only it had a simple checkbox style To-Do section, I'd throw down $$ like it was nobodies biznit..

A paperclip will work fine. Apple actually packaged a paperclip with the iPhone 3g. You can put it into airplane mode in settings. There is also a data roaming option in settings. Make sure that is off.

If I'm not mistaken, your iPhone will basically become an iPod Touch in airplane mode.
