Why are people almost getting offended by other people wanting cases? I prefer naked myself but some of your are irrationally condescending.

I think screen protectors are a little much, but I'm all for cases. With the back being crappy plastic, I want to keep my phone in good condition, especially since I'll probably be selling it this summer. I think the case looks cool and so have a lot of people who have seen it, so it's not a compromise.

I totally understand those who think it's unnecessary to use the screen protectors, but to think that those who do are stupid? Come on!

I've paid good money on this thing and I intend to use it until it breaks, just like all my prevous phones, so if paying a little extra (for either a case or protecter) can prolong that, then I'd do it without even thinking twice about it.

Yeah, except getting your car detailed so you can re-sell it later is probably not going to cost you half the cost of the fucking car. Can't really say the same about a phone.
It's a proven fact that you get more money reselling something that looks close to new. So you can use your phone however you see fit, some of us are thinking a little further ahead, that's all.
And it's hard to argue "poor design" when EVERY electronic device made with glass or plastics suffer from the same "design flaw".

I about to start installing the invisibleSHIELD. I have a feeling that I'd be using every curse word in my vocabulary in less than 10 minutes.

You won't believe this but I've actually found the back protector easier to install (with the palming technique or whatever it's called) than the front. Mostly because of how elastic this thing is, it kept stretching while I'm trying to clear out the bubbles that by the end the home button's opening was stretched and out of place. I've also had to take it off and back on three times since I kept getting strange particles and dust underneath it.

Anyhow, I'm done now and I can safely say that the corners are done to perfection!

nice, duno how the back was easier but nice eitherway lol. make sure you keep an eye on the corners, they can start to pop up during the drying period.

I will, oh and it looks like I spoke too fast :-\

There are some extremely small bubbles on the back (couldn't see them very well since it's white) are they considered as on of those "imperfections" that would go away in three days time? because I have no intention of doing this all over again. :lol

You're always a gentleman and a scholar. Thank you.

Already installed! Neat, but kinda buggy and hard to configure. Any tutorial around?
What are you trying to configure? Check the under LockInfo in Settings app; it might be as easy as pressing a toggle. If that isn't enough, and you don't mind getting your hands dirty, then from the developer himself: How to Customize LockInfo

Using a theme is much easier to be honest. For a (Gruppled Lockscreen info theme) tutorial see this writeup. Other themes you might be interested in are LockInfo Matte UI, MultiBarLockscreen 2.0 and Animated Lock Info

The bubbles should flatten themselves out over a day or two.

Can someone please snap some pics of the invisiblesheild full body cover, i'd just like to see how the edges match up and how thick it is

bah, then I hope I didn't damage (is it even possible?) the film from squeeging too much (I just kept on going and going). I guess I'll wait and see.

My biggest mistake was not using a lint-free piece of cloth as instructed, I used something that I thought was acceptable but halfway through the process I discovered it wasn't, but alas it was too late (a few lints made it under the film, I had to take it off a few times just to remove them).

Give me a few minutes...

I never used an Invisible Shield for anything other than the screen but the back and the wrap goes on nice. At one point I wanted to only buy the back so I could go careless since the back is shit plastic but figured the whole wrapping corners would be a disaster.

You can now take a key and go crazy and nothing will happen. It's pretty awesome.

omg you're so cool.

Exactly.

Ever since I bought the phone I made sure that it goes in one pocket and everything else in the other. It also enhances the grip of the phone, imo; gives it a slight rubbery feel.

You can pretty much do this on the unprotected glass screen already...

orly?

(edit: before you respond "I said screen!" well that's nice, I wasn't talking about the screen when you responded to me if you actually paid attention).

How long have you had the shield on the phone?
Less than 24 hours.

No lol, it's just the lighting of the room.

InvisiShield is too rubbery to glide your fingers on. Power Support Crystal Film protector is the way to go.
Unfortunately, this is true. As much as I appreciate how the full-body shield envelops the phone I can't get past how uncomfortable it feels to slide my index finger on the surface. The back, and how it protects the corners, is perfect; you'd certainly appreciate the rubbery feel and how much it enhances your grip on the phone. Sadly I can't say the same about the screen protector. I'm honestly thinking of taking it off now.

Part of me wants to take it off due to the few annoyingly placed lints that slipped through since I couldn't find a lint-free piece of cloth in time. I'm not sure what I'm going to do, I'm thinking of begging a friend for his second protector that came with the Bodyguardz' package (you get two of each), that is if it feels better than the current one I'm using.

Bah, I've no idea why a simple task of buying a protector film has become this complicated, it's almost not worth the trouble.

Let me know how long it lasts in pristine condition. I've used the shield off and on for a year. Shipped it back a few times, got new ones as they refined the make of it. The corners are the biggest issue in my opinion. I thought I had a PERFECT install this last time, they were on there nice and snug, right in position. That lasted a good month or 2 until they started to pop-up, and once that happens you're fucked. They never go back down nicely, they get crusty, and they fucking bother the hell out of me. I finally removed the entire shield again.

It isn't even about 'pristine condition'. Accidents happen, nothing wrong with slapping a case on and worrying less about it.

No cell phone is invincible. I have no desire to deal with repairs or replacements if I don't have to.

Not wanting a case is fine. Telling new phone owners that they don't need it because nothing will happen is flat out incorrect.

New iPod Touch announce coming soon?

Event invite for Sept. 9 @ the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco:

interesting that with all the rumors of The Beatles coming to iTunes in a big announcement, that the invite would refer to a Rolling Stones song.

Anyway, fingers crossed for a faster, 64 bit iTunes and an Apple TV software update that adds native divx support (looooool)

also, here’s hoping for an iPhone 3.1 update with extra snappy for OG and 3G users.

iPod announcement are, I suspect, to be camera additions and not much else aside from storage.

Camera additions, more storage and faster processor/ram/whatever to be on par or above iPhone 3Gs.

Speaking of the Touch, Mic is also important and hummm GPS would be quite a stretch, but now that turn by turn GPS apps are allowed, it would be money in the bank.

Rumor mill says new models with cameras and microphones (probably no video or processor upgrade yet though) and 16/32/64GB models for $199/299/399, respectively.

Microphones would be nice. Skype/Voicechat-enabled games = winnar.

And there's some Beatles significance to the Sept 9 date, right? Beatles Rock Band comes out that day too.

The only scratches on my launch 3G are from the stupid slider case from Incase I used for 9 months. The fucking thing put some nice grooves into the plastic.

Same here. People are amazed that I have a screen protector on it because you honestly can't tell unless you really, really look for it.

So, with all the bitching that’s been going on with the App store and approval process, I saw this linked on Daring Fireball and thought it was worth posting here.

crazy low sales from a relatively good performer in the Android marketplace.

Kinda makes the headaches of the App approval process seem minor as the alternatives don’t seem to be viable.

I'm thinking one of these newer firmware updates borked my wifi. It keeps disconnecting, most obviously on YouTube, where it loads about a third of the way for any video before dropping out and reverting to 3g, at which point I have to restart the video.

The 3.0 software also screws with the sync implementation on my wife's new Ford Focus. It woks fine on most occasions, but sometimes it'll randomly start playing a song through bluetooth audio when she gets in the car.

btw, MS Sync is all kinds of awesome. It integrates with iPhone seamlessly other than that bug (which you can fix by accessing your iPhone and changing the source), works great with Zune, and makes hands free calling perfect and simple. My wife was on the iPhone talking with me as she was walking out to her car, and once she got inside Sync automatically transferred her call to the in-car speaker. No buttons, no hassle. And on my end, I didn't even realize that the switch had taken place until she told me. The audio quality was great.

Yes, I didn't pay close attention to something written on the internet. The IS for the back is useful, yes. Just don't see the point to people putting stuff on the glass screen.

I'm having some problems.

I upgraded from a 3G to a 3GS. My 3GS has all my apps and settings, but if I download an app, it is never synched into my iTunes and if I try to sync my apps, it goes through and installs them all again.

How do I fix this?

Internet here has been crapping out from time to time, so I went looking for a solution and found the site that allows you to download the appropriate settings to allow a US based iPhone on the AT&T network to use tethering. I looked and noticed it was mentioned here earlier. So, quick question:

Anyone who has used it...did AT&T slap a charge on your monthly bill? How much did you use it?

I've looked into it as best as I can, and the fact that the only instances of charging are in a hypothetical "if AT&T wanted to they could charge" kind of way, leaves me encouraged. I figure if they did charge fees someone would have mentioned it and word would spread rather fast. But I just have to ask :).
