apple said:Minimum new 2-year wireless service plan and activation fee required to activate iPhone features, including iPod; plans are subject to AT&T credit approval.
that makes no sense. the whole point is to wait out 6-12 months and then buy it when things have been ironed out.SuperPac said:Well, OK. But then why buy any piece of new technology ever? (Including launch consoles.)

No ipod functionality without a service plan? :lol

Pshaw. Haven't you ever been an early adopter? Sure there are risks but that's part of the fun of being the first on the block to own something.mjfor40 said:that makes no sense. the whole point is to wait out 6-12 months and then buy it when things have been ironed out.

Is this unlimited data for more than one phone?nerbo said:Wow, excellent deal on the family plans!
$79.99 a month for a family plan with unlimited data, 700 rollover minutes, unlimited night and weekends and unlimited mobile-to-mobile? Sold. I pay $80 a month right now for 700 minutes on a family plan with Verizon with ZERO data and no rollover of minutes.
Soon as my contract with Verizon is up this fall, I am bailing for AT&T and 2 iPhones for my wife and I.
And I can now get a 15% service discount with AT&T through work, w00p!![]()
imastalker co. said:i definitely approve of these plans.
it's got great battery life, so no matter how much you use it, chances are you'll only have to charge it over night while you sleep.

that's great man, but im not a 17 year old girl, nor do i talk anywhere near as much as them. on my current phone, im ranking in far less 400 minutes a month (under 1000 including nights + weekends).StrikerObi said:Jesus man, just shut up already. 8 hours is fantastic talk time sure, but it no way can you talk literally "all day" on 8 hours. A 17 year old girl will be charging at least once mid-day.
Shogmaster said:I don't know dude. Alot of smartphone people left GSM for the EVDO rev A love of Sprint and Verizon. I'm not sure those people will be willing to step down to EDGE speeds, no matter the phone....

Can someone clarify what "unlimited mobile-to-mobile" entails to an AT&T customer? Is that free calling within AT&T's network, or what?
Family plan seems pretty decent...
Which is to say I can't download podcasts on-the-go? I guess I'll pass on this and wait for Rev2 then.Gary Whitta said:Pretty sure it works exactly like a regular iPod.
sonycowboy said:I'd like to know this as well. It used to always mean within your mobile carrier, but the commercials I see now seem to indicate that for some carriers it's between all mobile carriers.

thirty said:Here's my major issue with the iPlans, only 200 text minutes? Most mobile instant messaging programs use text data to send and receive, will iPhone do the same? So expect to add another $5 per month for more text if that's the case.

i also don't understand how you can say 8 hours is "fantastic", then bash it for not being good enough for a 17 year old girl.
you am ftw.
edited, thanks. geez, those are pricey. people are gonna be in for a rude awakening if instant messaging uses texts. "bu bu bu ...unlimited data." ahhahahahahhahahaaaaa.SuperPac said:200 text messages (not minutes). According to the video, it's $9.99 extra for 1500 and $19.99 for unlimited.
if that's the title people wanna give me on this board, fine. but i reeeeally doubt im the biggest Apple Fanboy here.StrikerObi said:I was just razzing you for being non-stop Apple fanboy #1. I'm a huge mac fan, but your zealotry shows no bounds.

Also, nothing is good enough for a 17 year old girl. I too talk less than 400 minutes and around 20 txts a month, so the low end plan is a no-brainer for me as well.
I want to warn people to beware of taxes. Obviously you'll be hit with tax on the phone itself, but government fees and taxes on a phone plan can hit you for quite a lot every month. One of my friends here in FL has a phone plan that runs her $60/month, and she ends up paying $76 after fees and taxes...
yeah, Apple's stock interface blows everyone else on NASDAQ away.imastalker co. said:im doing nothing more than pointing out how much better the interface is than anything else out there.

SuperPac said:What do you mean instant messaging? There is no instant messaging client on the iPhone (yet) except SMS. So...200 included, 1500 for $10 more or unlimited for $20 more.
cvxfreak said:I'm confused about this. So if I'm an existing Cingular user, can I just add these to my current plan and meet my obligations that way?
i wasn't reffering to the stock. i was talking about the phone.scorcho said:yeah, Apple's stock interface blows everyone else on NASDAQ away.
yayaba said:Yup, supposedly that's how it's supposed to work. You won't need to change your voice plan, even if it's grandfathered.
I'm still not sure whether or not they'll let you have one even w/o data. Can someone confirm?
thirty said:no Instant Messaging??? i'm sure google talk, aol, and others will be available but to not have these available at launch is unacceptable.
