Properly sort Drafts, Deleted, and Sent mail on the iPhone
Assuming that you have followed the iPhone IMAP setup instructions, it is now time to properly configure your mobile Mail client so that Sent Mail, Deleted Mail, Drafts, and Junk are reflected properly after syncing back between the webmail client and any other desktop clients you may have.
1. Open Settings > Mail > [Your Gmail IMAP account] > Advanced
2. Select Drafts Mailbox > On the Server > [Gmail] Drafts. Return to the Advanced view.
3. Select Sent Mailbox > On the Server > [Gmail] Sent Mail. Return to the Advanced view.
4. Select Deleted Mailbox > On the Server > [Gmail] Trash. Return to the Advanced view.
Any emails sent from your iPhone will appear in Gmails Sent view, any saved drafts saved on your iPhone will appear in Gmails Drafts view, and any deleted messages will be reflected in Gmails Trash view.

By default the Sent, Drafts, and Deleted mail folders are local (ie - on your iPhone). If you want total synchronization between your Gmail you need to change that. Here's how:

OK, so I spent the last hour or so updating my hacked iPhone to 1.1.1. Everything's gone smoothly, but I can't get the SummerBoard patch to work. It says it patched successfully, but when I reboot the phone SummerBoard doesn't come up and the Installer.app won't update to version 3.0. It checks its sources and comes up with nothing new...I'm confuzed.

Should I go with the IPhone or the Ipod Touch?
I'm currently on Telus with a Razr (LOL) and have a scratched as hell, low life battery IPOD Nano.
So take into factor -> changing phone plan, cost, etc.
Thanks.
DaCocoBrova said:The answer is obvious.
DaCocoBrova said:I considered that. Looking at what you get for the money spent... Seems like an easy choice to make.
You missed the part he said he's from Canada, and also has to switch plans. I'm not even aware that Iphone is sold in Canada to begin with, unless you buy a ridiculously expensive unlocked phone.DaCocoBrova said:It is for me. 8GB is plenty (for me). Did you miss the part about him coming from a NANO?
Hmm, you know, I just found out that if you live close to the border, you can buy Iphone in the apple store in US, soft-unlock it, and run it with any SIM card. Well, not any, apparently the Telus network doesn't work, but Rogers network works. I'm not sure if the Edge internet functionality works, as it didn't work on an Iphone I've seen from a friend here in Canada.DevelopmentArrested said:Yeah the unlocked, expense part + switching plans is too problematic. I'll grab the Touch, thanks guys.

Still, that alone made me reconsider my Ipod Touch stance, as I do live close enough to an Apple Store in US that such a trip would be worthwhile. I still dunno, Touch is really more impressive from the thinness+weight standpoint (Iphone is like twice as thick) and I don't like phone battery running out due to media playback, when I need to receive an important call. Plus I'd always have to worry what happens if there's no jailbreak for some future firmware update. And if Edge-internet doesn't work on Rogers, that's a pretty big negative as well.

I'm considering getting a new phone and the iPhone (Probably opt for a refurb model @ $299) is a candidate because I tend to wander and having maps at my fingertips will be indispensible.
Thanks.

Before and after that I've had no problems, and I've taken the phone with me on trips to several other cities and it's worked swimmingly everywhere I've been.

Stoney Mason said:True. Of course like I've said I've used several cell phones at this place before and people come over and are able to use their phones inside my place so that does kind of point to a combination of AT&T and the Iphone not being the best phone on the market in my book but everybody's experience is slightly unique.

worked perfectly, my contacts were resynced etc, woo.
So happy that it worked... the guides at hackintosh are perfect and easy to follow.
edit: I'm Canadian too, I'm on fido -- I've heard reports the iphone doesnt work with the TELUS network, not sure the exact cause.
Anyways, iPhone over the iPod Touch for sure, I love having everything in one device.
koam said:Telus isn't GSM, i.e doesn't use sim cards. That's great, i want to get an iphone, i'm just kinda worried that a new model will be out soon. I'll wait for a thinner, higher capacity model.

This problem started today. I was surfing the web just fine today and everything worked. But then for some reason after a while the iphone wouldn't let me click any of the links on the webpages. I can still load new pages and go to different websites, but I can't click on the links and the tabs on these websites. Is this a common problem?
Stoney Mason said:Yes. Happens to me all the time. You have to power off your Iphone and then turn it on.

Figures.
I go to buy the refurb model and they're sold out. >:|

Kung Fu Jedi said:Define soon? I'd be shocked if we saw a new iPhone in the next six months. I guess it's possible they could announce something at MacWorld in January, but I highly doubt it. Then again, I didn't think they would drop the price so quickly either.
I'm happy with Touch for now, but if some future revision of Iphone happens to have GPS, that will be a day one purchase for sure.Kung Fu Jedi said:Personally, battery life is rarely an issue for me, and I love having everything in one device. So easy and convenient.
