What program do you use to photoshop a picture?
Yup its true. Everyone in college has one now. I was walking to the student union and saw a couple of guys walk pass me with one. Everywhere on campus you see people caring it. I remember last year when it was cool to own one.


I blame this on those gay referal givaways :( Damn you Guys.

The referral has only given away a total of 4000 so far. I doubt that is the cause of the influx.

I noticed that too! The microstore at my campus has 'em on backorder, there's like a 60 person waiting list for the 20 gig version (you get a 50 dollar off deal with the store through apple).

It just means a lot of people at your college have good taste in electronics. :p

Only thing i hate about the iPod's popularity is that people look down on me because i use MDs. i don't need my entire music collection with me at all times because i only have a few hours a week where i'm both away from my PC and can actually enjoy listening to music. Basically, if i'm not at work, i'm at home.

I didn't buy my iPod so I could look "cool" and "hip." I bought it so I could carry around gigs of my music, without a billion cds.

I remember last year when it was cool to own one.

Why do people feel a need to listen to music in school? Or is college more than just "school"? Well, when I was younger and in school, I never did...and I can't recall anyone else bringing a music playing device to school either. We talked with each other you know, and hang out...

I was given the B&O headphones for the iPod, which goes quite well with the remote. has anyone noticed how many non-iPod white earbuds there are now? A couple of years ago and they would have all been black.

Sucks I bought the in ear headphones from apple the first day i bought my 3G. Now I use it on my 4G.

Sometimes when all you're friends have classes and you're too lazy to drive to a friends appartment, you just want to sit down in the library, relax and listen to some jams. The ipods were not jsut musical devices, they were part of the fashion. I made couple of heads turn whenever I walked by.

A lot of people on my campus have them. I don't understand why that bothers you.

You should buy it for its functionality, instead of spending $300 on something that makes you look cooler than your peers.

Sony's audio player needed to have native MP3 support from the onset, if it's going to be upgraded to feature it, then I think Sony has a real contender on its hands. I got the chance to demo one of them and its size and weight is staggering. You'd have a hard time even noticing the thing in your pocket. And a 30 hour battery life? Crazy. Now they just need to do something about the cost...

It's genius in marketing really. It's Sony's way of saying 'buy our damn MP3 player or you'll have to keep listening to Macy Gray'. Shit, makes me want to buy two - one to keep, and one to hurl at her head as hard as possible. :D

Man, I've been listening to music in/at school by way of portable devices since like high school (had a Diamond Rio 500, baby!). I mainly use my iPod when walking to and from class since it's about a 20 minute walk -- much more enjoyable and manageable to do that while grooving to some music.

And yeah, iPods are as much a fashion statement as sunglasses or something are at this point.
