Small balls, big fun!
Iyad Allawi, the new Prime Minister of Iraq, pulled a pistol and executed as many as six suspected insurgents at a Baghdad police station, just days before Washington handed control of the country to his interim government, according to two people who allege they witnessed the killings.

They say the prisoners - handcuffed and blindfolded - were lined up against a wall in a courtyard adjacent to the maximum-security cell block in which they were held at the Al-Amariyah security centre, in the city's south-western suburbs.

They say Dr Allawi told onlookers the victims had each killed as many as 50 Iraqis and they "deserved worse than death".

The Prime Minister's office has denied the entirety of the witness accounts in a written statement to the Herald, saying Dr Allawi had never visited the centre and he did not carry a gun.
But in a sharp reminder of the Iraqi hunger for security above all else, the witnesses did not perceive themselves as whistle-blowers. In interviews with the Herald they were enthusiastic about such killings, with one of them arguing: "These criminals were terrorists. They are the ones who plant the bombs."
This whole situation really deserves a Flashman book.

dated July 1st, Zeyad reported this.

In fact the performance of the IP until now is encouraging, a number of gangs were surrounded and arrested at Al-Battawiyeen by an Iraqi SWAT force, and people claim that the police used satellite images to locate the gangs, such rumours do have a benefit though. Another widespread and preposterous rumour is that Ayad Allawi has been showing up at IP stations and executing criminals himself, and I have heard this one from a very large number of people.

so at least I will McGeough credit what is so far an urban legend, he gave it more detail and kept it to one jail. even if its true, it works in Allawi favor as the 2 story tellers in the article were happy about it.

But without evidence, or witnesses coming forward, it sounds goofy.

even his exclusive telling on Lateline show doesn't pass the smell test

How ironic. Dispose of one cold blooded killer, and install another in his place.

Exactly.

The mass graves were Shi'ite militias considered as terrorists by Saddam Hussien. It's the same excuse.

Though you can't make a complete comparison, since Hussien has killed many women and children.

But if the US gives Allawi some chemical weapons and encourage it's use on the Kurds, there won't be much of a difference.

OMG WTF!!!?????

They were already in custody-- just keep them in prison. Any "foreign" fighters could've also been sent back to their countries. Those people were not capable of hurting anyone anymore.

uh.. foreign fighters going back to their countries are looking to harm and bring the fight there, as Saudi Arabia is finding out with young Saudi fighters who are leaving Iraq to now carry on the jihad against the house of Saud.

As for keeping them in prison.

Interior Minister Falah Hassan al-Naqib on captured fighters: "He said the foreign fighters were being interrogated and their confessions will be made public in a few days."

I dunno about you, but when you can say with certainty you will have confessions in a few days.. You are not treating them with love and kindness.

No, they are treating them exactly how Saddam treated them.

Saddam has treated Al Qaeda very badly. But since it was him doing it, it was a bad thing. Now that someone friendly to the US is doing it, it's a good thing. Hypocraziness.
