You’re a wizard Harry! Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley and Hermoine Granger has been cast for HBO’s reboot.

Not the actor...the character not being represented as people have read her as for 20 years+. It was really distracting in the play also.

I'm fine with the actress playing Hermonie. I'm not happy with the Snape cast. I found it interesting how that was the first cast announcement. I'm a huge fan of the books and grew up reading them so I understand where you are coming from. I'm not sure if I'm gonna to watch the show due to the Snape casting. I think it's ridiculous how everyone else they cast can look the part but for some reason they went out of their way to make Snape different lol

Imagine being this concerned over the race of a child actor in your wizardy show.
Harry Potter is peak culture that all sides cling to in some way. You've got the hardcore purity tests loons on the left who try and cancel anything to do with it, you've got the millennials clinging to it to excuse any faults it has and deluded themselves into convincing you it's peak writing and how it's apart of their lifestyle, you've got the anti-woke loud mouth types clinging to it to support JK but also bang on about stuff like this despite them being against her during the time she was retconning gay wizards and people shitting on the floors.

Throw em all together and no matter what your view on it is, you're going to find a very loud argument going on.

Yeah sure if it was a CW show but it's a HBO show. Just cause the second season of the last of us is middling doesn't mean every show going forward will end up like that, especially when we know the stories are already established.

Did the person above me really say anime? No fucking thank you on that weird pervy shit.

is TLOU the only HBO show you watched? Lmao, literally almost all of them end up bad. GoT, Westworld, True Detective, etc.

One of these actors will become a trans by the 4th season.

In real life or the show? I don't see that happening in the show because despite all the whining and complaining, Hogwarts Legacy was the best-selling game of 2023 and this show has been hugely anticipated. This show will also be extremely successful.

I mean in life being in the culture.

Westworld doesn't belong next to those two. It turned into Metal Gear Solid 2 and 4 mixed with Ghost in the Shell, in it's final seasons.

That one prison escape episode with Aaron Paul's character was peak.

I still don't know what season 1-only fans wanted from the show.

Almost all of the stuff you guys didn't like was either shown or hinted at in the first season: The heaven's gate, copy cyborgs, implanted memories, the outside world having cyborgs, the simulation, cyborgs fighting back/uprising, human replacements, uploading consciousness, etc.

I can agree that season 2 with "eastworld" was a bit meandering for over half of it's season, but season 3 did the smart thing and took things outside of that setting to show how everything was unraveling on a larger scale.

The pacing was incredibly awful and most of us were having a hard time keeping up with the timeline not to mention the fact that it started having more holes than a swiss cheese. There was nothing at stake, nothing interesting anymore. There were a million ways they could've done better and thats why it got cancelled. Its charisma vanished.

Not people in here dragging the Hermoine casting as if she was asian or black. Y'all will just say anything at this point lmao.
Sh's not eastern european but come on now...

I'm portuguese and you see people 100% from here way more taned than that during the summer months, lmao. It's called melanine and white people have that too.
I don't have an issue with this casting but I'm seeing this post a lot 'she looks Mediterranean' etc. Definitely in terms of colouring I get that dark with a tan but she doesn't have European facial features. I think she's half English and half Indian or South American. You'd know what Portuguese look like better than me but I'm Greek and don't think her face looks South European at all.

I'm always surprised how people struggle to tell apart dark Mediterraneans and other brown/olive populations when the faces are completely different. Even struggling to tell the difference between Iberians and Greeks is ridiculous but I see it all the time.

Rowling will shill for black Snape, just because she isn't pro trans doesn't mean she isn't progressive btw. So any more race swaps you better be prepared for it.

Personally interested in who they'll cast for Peeves, Rik Mayall had that shit briefly in the movies.

I know Katherine Parkinson from The IT Crowd. I can see her working as Molly. I don't think I know any of the others.

Those are some professional portraits, all right.
Aunt Petunia was giving me some strong "Marisa Tomei as Aunt May" vibes, but the actress isn't that pretty in most other shots.

Quite good casting, tbh. The OG Malfoys were exactly as you'd imagine them reading the books, but the new ones look the part quite enough.
The adults all look a bit too young, but then again, all the parents of Harry's schoolmates and foes should be in their mid-to-late thirties. The movies made them a bit cartoonish and they looked older than they should.
