Iron Man is not a CG character.

He is in that clip.

The entire sequence is 100% CG, in fact.

And IF it is real, they need to remove whatever shit they're layering on top because it makes it looks bad.

The tank sequence is almost entirely real, you know. Iron Man is not a CG character.

I think they are doing some post-processing work to Iron Man's armor that looks a bit odd. I actually kind of like it. You're right though, this is some of Stan Winston's best work.

There are definitely CG elements but look at some of the armor movement I think it might be real. Especially the second half with him walking away.

Not what I was told.

Why would they make that sequence in CG when they have a full body armor suit? There's no reason to do Iron Man in CG in that sequence.

No idea, but what I'm looking at in HD is not a real person in a suit shooting a tank.

You people think this is shitty cg?

(the animation is a bit stiff, i'll say that though)

I think it is, actually. The post-processing makes it look visually strange, but that's a guy in a suit. I don't believe for a second that they felt the need to spend the time and money to make a CG Iron Man raise his arm and turn around when they have an already built suit to shoot on greenscreen. The rocket he shoots looks like it's CG, but the character is real.

Most people can't actually tell what's CG and what isn't anymore. More often than not, what people call "bad CG" is actually bad compositing of multiple in-camera elements.

Umm yeah. I totally just stole that Iron Man wallpaper, shagg. :lol

That makes three of us.

I already started using this one but you can have it. I'll change mine, it's no big deal.

Thanks, I appreciate it! Didn't see that you had grabbed it already and if you do want it back, just say so. I'm happy to give it up since you had it first).

I think it's in this movie. It's that giant fucker in the trailer.

looked alot like the hulk buster suit actually, the warmachine suit looks like the regular modular armor but is black and white with a giant ass mini gun cannon on the shoulder.

The CGI looks meh. It's so clearly CGI that it kinda ruins the point for me
This argument needs to die. Show any of these scenes to a person who doesn't know what "CGI" is and they will believe it to be real. Of course it's "clearly CGI" because there are no robot flying suits in this world. To say there's no point in watching it because you know it's fake is missing the point, IMO.

I was always optomistic and really excited with just how great this film is turning out...then that TV Spot just threw it into overdrive! :D

Yeah I'm pretty excited about this. The movie has a good potential if they keep Iron Man armor "practical" and don't do any Matrix-shit. That scene where he dodges the projectile looks very nice and just shows the suit is a "tank" but it's just so much more flexible.

So I'm kinda hoping more "Robocop" and less "Superman" :)

And btw here's a free boner in form of the tv-show opening. Manlier than Rambo.

Oh god the new tv spot was awesome. I MUST SEE THIS MOVIE

Ugh this movie is gonna be sick, can't wait, looks like it's going to be really entertaining. Iron Man followed by Dark Night, now that's a summer!

i hope this movie will be incredible. i'm really impressed with the pictures (the action figures look like crap though). as cool as the scene is with Iron Man shooting the tank, the graphics there are really lacking compared to the other scenes that have been shown.

This movie looks so awesome. I've been following it ever since I heard there was gonna be a movie, but is this particular shot/scene going to be in the movie? I mean, how did Ironman end up in a desolate looking ghost town, fighting against a tank? I'm asking this because some time ago there were rumours that the scene from one of the teasers where Ironman fights some F16's was just shot for the trailer.

Can't wait.

Description of the second (possibly final) trailer:

I had a chance to watch the new trailer, which has some unfinished effects (but includes that PS2 looking Iron Man shooting the tank bit from the Super Bowl commercial (could it be that it's supposed to look like this? The quote from the title of this article comes from a moment where Pepper Potts walks in on Tony Stark in a full body mocap suit as he is doing some VR fight training)), and I have to say that this one kicks ass. The music is still a little meatheaded - it opens with ACDC's Back in Black and closes with Audioslave's Cochise - but the tone of the thing is perfect. The structure is similar to previous trailers:

We open with Tony in Afghanistan, which is a nice opportunity to show off some Downey humor. The attack happens, he gets captured, he builds the prototype, he escapes. Stark returns to America, where he is met by Pepper Potts ("Red eyes? Tears for your long lost boss?" "Tears of joy. I hate job hunting.") and then we see Stark's supermodern house, which talks to him.

The next sequences have the creation of the suit, with voice over by Stark explaining that he had a change of heart in captivity and wants to help the people he used to hurt. Obadiah Stane goes to Afghanistan to get the grey Iron Man suit schematics. Tony learns to fly in the Iron Man armor (poorly). We get some inside the helmet shots of Stark's face as he's flying and then crashing. Rhodey pops up with the schematics for the new armor, which is all gold, and Stark tells him to throw in some race car red. And then there's a bunch of action - Iron Man and jets, Iron Monger grabbing a passing motorcycle out from under a guy and nailing Iron Man with it, a nuclear looking punch to the ground - and then Tony Stark addressing what is likely his board of directors: 'There's been some speculation I've been running around as a super hero. Let's face it - I'm just not the hero type. Clearly.'

It's a terrific trailer, even with some crudely rendered bits that will surely get cleaned up before it hits theaters. If you're like me and was modestly underwhelmed by that Super Bowl spot, this trailer is going to return Iron Man to the top of your expectation list for sure.

Glad this format war shits over now, dont have to worry about which studio it is and which format they will be releasing it on. Seen the trailer in the cinema the other day, looks bad ass.
