Most people on the gaming side are far from rational, however.

What about EviLore?
Most of these mega purges that happen are OT threads. While I don't think gaming side is some beacon of rational thought OT sure as shit aint either.
Well isn't it pretty self-evident why people would reason that it's dead?
Yeah, so? For some people video games are a passion, they're allowed to be upset about things related to them. That doesn't make them irrational. Also you do realize you're on the "Gaming Age Forum" right? Debates about video games should be expected.
It's odd to me that some people seem come here solely for the Off-Topic board.
At least people get offended about vaguely real things on OT. On gaming side you have people getting actually upset about things related to video games.

I'm "passionate" about games (I guess, kinda?) but I really don't care if somebody thinks my favourite video game console is bad. I like arguing with people about things but I never actually get upset, because why would I. No one else's opinion is worth even 1/100th of mine.
Drinky
I honestly think posting the pictures was needed to show that these are normal girls in normal clothing. Otherwise, yes, I think it would have been a lot more victim blaming than there was.
To be fair, if someone is passionate about something then I'd say it's acceptable.
And there are forums out there which are much much worse in comparison, I think most of the discussion on Gaming (and GAF as a whole) is generally pretty level headed.
I heard EviLore banned his own mother once.
It was an interesting thread. There is the moral issue and then there's the legal issue and its very interwined. People's different vies on privacy, symbols of sexual availability, and good old lookism arguments all come out, and it's very interesting (for me at least). However it was obvious that victim blamers and people more conservative like phosphorous would go. The people who made jokes surprised me because it's kinda hard to tell what's a jokey thread where those go unpunished and what's a serious one where mods go on a killing spree. I was certainly scared for myself as I was on the wrong side of the argument (in banhammer sense) and as growing exasperated at the amount of people stating that taking pictures of people without their permission was illegal (it isn't, least not in UK) or should be illegal if it wasn't already.
P.S I know this is a really, really, really dumb question but I have to ask.
Is creepshotting actually illegal? If so what law would it come under? I'm guessing harassment but I'm not sure.
How can you discuss an issue if you're not at all familiar with the source material, though? I for one had no idea what 'creepshots' were, and I don't think I was alone in that.I don't see a problem with discussing the issue. The pics were probably unnecessary through.
It becomes a problem when folks constantly repeat "VITA IS DEAD" in every Vita related thread, it can get annoying and occasionally derail a thread. If someone's taking it personally though, you're right.I'm not attacking GAF in comparison to other forums, I'm just saying I find it really amusing when people say "hey people are being mean to Vita a lot of the gaming side, I wish they'd get banned!".
I still don't think there's any need to ban a person unless it's personal insults. Banning someone for making fun of a video game system's failure is just...like, why?
So have you thrown this around with the other mods? He's been banned 7 times, including once this year. No one has "immunity"![]()

Right now there is a huge disconnect between users and mods that seems to not allow or make it easy to communicate with them.
Adding links to the names and and seeing how each member departed is perfect for this thread. It teaches you how to conduct yourself on GAF.
This thread should be stickied.

So have you thrown this around with the other mods?
How about a rap sheet for every poster? A auto link to the infringing post so that other users can go "huh that guy got banned for this post, better not do that!" and takes a whole lot of guessing out of what happened.
Another thing is, since most of these bans are really just "probations" would it be possible to allow users to contest bans with the moderator as long as they are civil about it?

Yeah these don't make much sense.

I think they were banned for other posts in the thread, not the post linked to. LeBrick definitely was.
Yeah these don't make much sense.
Its because they are saying "Lol Vita dead" and are derailing the thread from any objective and intelligent conversation that could have otherwise taken place.
SA has those nice features because it does a lot of bannings/probations. As much as you're obviously meaning that what I suggested is a bad thing, it would be a good thing for NeoGafso you want this to be SA?
Explain.
Pretty much the only place to have that conversation is in the official Vita thread.
Anyone who replies with only a gif shouldn't be banned.
Yeah you think i didn't check through their recent post history?
Your OP already linked them to the news story. That was really all you needed to get the discussion going. If members wanted more info they could've just googled the term. Also, would those pics be considered safe-for-work? Pictures focused on woman's butts? Not at my job.How can you discuss an issue if you're not at all familiar with the source material, though? I for one had no idea what 'creepshots' were, and I don't think I was alone in that.
And as fiction said, there would be even more assumptions. Hell, even with the pictures a lot of people assumed the creepshots were always of women dressed in yoga pants, which isn't even close to accurate..

Why?We've had this discussion several times in this thread. Bottom line is that it ain't gonna happen.
a witty joke about the vita =/= "lol vita is ded"
If you're clever, making a funny quip about it than that's fine, but if you repeatedly just parrot "BRAWK THE VITA IS DEAD BRAWK" it's not entertaining AND doesn't contribute the discussion.

If the response is "It's too much work" that doesn't fly with me. Evillore just went on a fieldtrip, he can put the money back into the forums.
