Is it fair to say that 2023 will be one of the greatest years of gaming?

On paper sure, I was thinking the same thing about 2022 until BotW2 and StarField got delayed..

2022 has been really good and I will be buying more games later this year

With that said, 2023 is looking great

No, because almost everything listed is just a sequel.
There are plenty of new things, it just makes sense that people will be more excited for sequels because they sort of know what to expect. Also what's wrong with sequels? Pretty sure most of the best games ever made have been sequels.

If everything that was promised ends up being delivered it will be an amazing year for sure :)

Diablo 4 and Baldur's gate 3 releasing on the same year?

Thanks for jinking 2023 asshole. Zelda will now be delayed 1 year for Switch 2, Starfield will now suck, FFXVI will be worse than XIII, All remakes will forget to include what you liked in the original, and Sony will get sued for not having any games.

NO, it's not. Because people say this shit EVERY YEAR & it never happens.

When games were originally supposed to be released this year but got delayed into next year.. it does NOT count

Not sure how that's possible given ELDEN RING is the "greatest game of all time" and not releasing in 2023.

. . .honestly lets temper expectations a wee bit.

Read this carefully…almost every game you are looking forward to next year will be delayed to 2024, just as almost every 2022 game i was looking forward to was delayed to 2023, and every 2021 game i was looking forward to was delayed to 2022

Starfield, Redfall and Forza early. Probably Avowed and Hellblade 2 later in 2023.
It's really the first year of next gen, so yeah it'll be great.

i think so, i know we said the same this year, but the 2022 games that got delayed to 2023, i would expect them to be there in 2023

So that would be:
Starfield
redfall
zelda
Forza
stalker 2
deadspace remake

Also some for sure games like:
Resident evil 4 remake

and if slated 2023 games come out, it will be even crazier, such as:
Spiderman 2
final fantasy 7 rebirth
silksong

and I know I am missing something, but even if ONLY the 2022 games that got pushed to 2023 release, that alone would make it a good year

so there is potential

2023 is stacked for Xbox. Hopefully starfield releases early in 2023 to get off to a good start. Stalker 2 is probably pushed to q4 now.

But yeah, between all the games on Xbox and botw2 I'll be busy next year.

and we just need 1 banger from sony squeezed in there, imagine if spiderman 2 releases

So we are skipping 2022 because it doesn't fit certain losers? 2022 is one of the best years in gaming so far with more to come. Maybe stop looking at your dry front yard and look at what's happening around the neighborhood.

It probably won't be but it's looking strong.

I'm looking forward to FFXVI, FFVII Rebirth, Spider-Man 2, Zelda BoTW2, Baldur's Gate 3, Factions. God of War Ragnarok as well is it gets delayed.

Not to mention, PSVR2 and all the games that should come along with it, hopefully Half-Life Alyx as well, write that check Jimbo.

Only if Metroid Prime 4 gets released in 2023 because at the moment I'm only looking forward to 2 remakes: RE4 and Dead Space. I'll ignore all the rest.

spiderman 2
ff7
star wars knights of the old republic
forspoken

but we dont know much else, sony needs an event and tell us
Forspoken is 2022, it was already delayed.

FFXVI is a 2023 game with a summer release window, FFVII Part 2 technically could release early 2024 given the "next winter" release window.

Next-gen started the moment Demon's Souls, Returnal and Ratchet were released. Enough with these warrior posts. Go cry into a corner.

really? LOL I somehow imagined it would be next year

well, the biggest sony 1st party exclusive with a year date for 2023 that I can think so is Spiderman 2. The others are 3rd party exclusives

we really need a sony state of play on 2023

Yep, Spider-man is the only Sony game with a release window (2023) other than God of War Ragnarok and TLoU Part I.

It's a really weird situation where Sony has more studios than ever and less games announced than ever as well. No lack of big moneyhats this gen tho.

yeah, avowed isnt 2023, specially with the reported changes in directors and such

hellblade 2 is a maybe, but could also be pushed back

i would not hold my breath for either of those

Probably
Like. Noone knows what will really happen but it looks like studios have COVID-19 and remote work finally in check and they smoothed out remote production of games. So I don't expect so many delays
Just look at this
Microsoft: Forza Motorsport, Redfall, Starfield, ARA, Minecraft Legends, STALKER 2, Diablo IV and we still have no clue what they have for second half of 2023
Sony: Final Fantasy XVI, Final Fantasy VII Remake 2, Spider-Man 2,
Nintendo: BOTW 2 and God knows what else
Alan Wake II, Pragmata, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Dead Space Remake, Star Wars Jedi: Surivor, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, Street Fighter VI, Suicide Squad, The Wolf AMong Us 2, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

And I'm sure many more will be announced for 2023.

Microsoft: Avowed, Contraband, Hellblade 2
Sony: The Last of Us Multiplayer, various VR games to support PSVR2 launch
Nintendo: Metroid Prime 4, Pikmin 4
Third-Party: Dragon's Dogma 2, KOTOR remake, Space Marine 2, Assassin's Creed Rift, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Wonder Woman

I don't think it compares to a lot of the best years in the past, but that's because we know the quality that came from those years. 2023's outcome is still unknown to us, anything can happen.

That being said, on paper, 2023 IS looking pretty damn stacked. Especially since a lot of titles we expected in 2022 have been pushed to 2023, lol.

After last two years and countless flops throughout the ages, I'll wait to believe its even possible until after games stop dropping.

It'll have to go a long way to beat 1992.

Super Mario Kart
Sensible Soccer
Street of Rage 2
Lunar: The Silver Star
Contra III: The Alien Wars
Street Fighter II: Turbo
Virtua Racing
Syndicate

If a lot of the games that were delayed this year into next actually come out it could definitely be up there.

Depends. If god of war ragnarok releases then how many games from 2023 can match the quality of that and elden ring? Only botw2 will be of that quality imo.

It will be good. 2022 is good for me as well. Im getting Xenoblade 3(GOTY), Atomic Heart, Scorn, Trails From Zero, Soul Hackers 2, Crisis Core Remake, GOW2, and last but not least The Callisto Protocol.
Yup, 2022 is just getting started…..so many games I'm looking forward.

I do not think so, I believe it is highly likely that some of games pushed from 2022 to 2023 will undoubtedly force (or allow) some 2023 games to be pushed to 2024. It could be a benefit for some titles, but also could be based on strategic deployment of titles to avoid competing big releases. No COD next year could help keep titles from being pushed.

Yes x1000.
Will it be the best? Not sure but it will definitely be in that tier of GOAT years.

2022 will belong to Elden Ring, Horizon, CoD MW2 and Callisto Protocol.

2023 big hitters: Redfall, Diablo 4, Starfield, God of War, Forza Motorsport, Zelda BotW2, Jedi Survivor and so much more.
