Is The Rock the most charismatic entertainer of all time?

In the world of professional wrestling, Rock certainly has a strong case. The only guys I can see as points of contention are Macho Man, Austin, Ric Flair, and Hogan.

In the broader spectrum of entertainment? No. Why? Because throwing Rock's name onto any movie isn't going to guarantee people show up.

Ric Flair.

Not sure what you're trying to argue. Charisma and popularity are often linked.

Rock absolutely had more charisma than the likes of Hogan even if he never reached Hulk's popularity. Stone Cold was always ahead of Rock also...but Rock had more charisma than him also. Rock combined both of those better than most in WWE history. He still does a pretty good job of that in his movies.

He's the closest thing to Arnold in our generation and Arnold oozed both of those as well.

Can we please stop it with these "Is ___ the ___ of all time/forever and ever!?" threads!

Is "Is ___ the ___ of all time/forever and ever!?" the worst thread title of all time/forever and ever!?

Oh wait, forgot about "Am I the only one who _____". Dangit...

And on topic: no, not even close.

No.

Hulk Hogan changed wrestling in ways you're not willing to entertain. It doesn't diminish Rock's great charm in any way. But he could never have done what Hogan did.

Hulk Hogan was my favorite wrestler growing up. Went from him to the Heartbreak Kid and ended with HHH.

What I posted doesn't diminish what Hulk did in any way. I'm not sure why that was your response.

I don't have to enter them, but I still have to see them. Originality on GAF is deader than a hammer.

If only Lackey could save us from the mediocrity of these threads.

As someone not interested watching wrestling matches I still really love how awesome Kenny Omega is.

His love, appreciation and enthusiasm for fighting games and the fgc in general made me watch a few of his matches. He's also actually quite good in them.

I can't think of anyone who's such a awesome guy as him.

Not even close. Has OP heard of Evel Knieval? The man was Flava Flav, Don King, and PT Barnum all rolled into one. He was his own personal hype machine

It's pretty dismissive.

Anyway, the thread is designed to be hyperbolic and with a narrow focus. Your posts seemed representative of a lot of that. We don't need to argue it further.

Unfortunately for you, I was junior'd by the PC defense force that is the GAF mods. So I haven't been able to start a thread in like two years.

....why do I keep coming here?

Way to take the fun out of it. Ill make sure to avoid quoting you in the future.

This opinion is based mainly on his WWE career.

I've never seen anyone with the ability to command a crowd as well as The Rock could. As a little kid I didn't think anything of it but now as an adult, watching some of his old promos on YouTube, I find it even more impressive. He was so assertive yet at the same time he was never corny. There was a level of excitement in the arenas every time he spoke. This guy was a master in front of the mic with supreme confidence and swagger. His showmanship was second to none. He made The People's Elbow (a basic elbow drop with a ridiculous 20 second setup) into the most electrifying move in sports entertainment. I mean crowds would go crazy when this man took off his elbow pad.

In this clip he insults Toronto yet the crowd still adores him.

Another great promo

No one even comes close to The Rock. He is the greatest most charismatic entertainer ever.

Why does he have to the best of all time. Can't he just be the best one alive ?
Why does anytime someone stand out, they have to be compared to the countless humans who have ever lived, forgetting often anyone not talking your language.

If you go that way, Any of the main religion prophet would probably take it away.
Jesus, Muhammad, Siddhattha Gotama.

If you are charismatic enough to get yourself a religion 2000 year after you died, I don't know man.
What else do you need ? Do you think we'll get a religion after the Rock in 2000 years, I have my doubts.

The rock is a great example of charismatic, to go to Hollywood and just drop movies is very impressive. I want to see the rock wwe now.

The Rock has a great personality, larger than life, people like him, he's family friendly, etc. But all time for every category of entertainment? That's a stretch, maybe in wrestling. Overall I'd vote Michael Jackson. Jackson was so iconic you could spot his dance moves from a mile away. Even if you just saw his basic shadow silhouette on stage, you'd still instantly know that's Jackson. An absolute legend in music, fashion, singing, dancing and visual art.

But yeah, back to Dwayne Johnson. I can't think of many actors who can compete in 2021. He's definitely one of the most charming famous actors alive right now. I like The Rock, but I get tired of seeing him in like every comedy movie. Likewise, Arnold Schwarseneggar has been in so many movies, you get fatigue watching him all the time. I'd go for Arnold in terms of acting since he's more legendary through the 80's and 90's, which was peak cinema IMO.

Why do people keep randomly bumping threads that are years old?

Is this a new craze on GAF? Find a random thread that hasn't been touched for 4+ years and give it the necromancer treatment? Honest question.
Oh wow I didn't even see the date when I responded. WTF.

Tupac, Arnold, Macho Man, The Rock, Shaquille O’Neal and Magic Johnson all have their place in this argument as well. And based off games, even though charismatic might not be the most fitting word to describe him, maybe one could even put Shigeru Miyamoto in this category as well. Mario, Link never said much but who can deny their character? Those characters of his are well known and loved across the globe

Yeah sure
The WWE/F was definitely at it's best when he was there.
Late 90's, early 2000's.

He's definitely up there. I haven't watched wrestling since the 90s but the way this guy would have entire arenas eating outta the palm of his hand was a sight to behold.
