I can only assume this is a joke.

And I disagree. If a company has treated me right, I will continue to buy from that company. It's the exact same thing when eating at a restuarant. If you like the food, and service, why bother with another place? Certainly if they cater to your tastes.Geek said:Loyalty to a corporate entity is as puerile as it is stupid. This characteristic should be reserved for friends, family, and loved ones, not name brands. Like an individual or team's work? Fine. Loyalty to a coyright? Misguided.

moku said:Let me ask you this geek, do you stand in line for the newest videogame, just becuase it's a videogame? Or did you, like millions of other wait in line for Halo2, becuase of the BRAND NAME?
Unless of course you wait for every release, like mary-kate and Ashley Olsens newest GBA game.
It's the same EXACT THING. Nintendo just happens to make kick-ass, AAA games, that only exist on Nintendo platforms. So I purchase a Nintendo system. Simple as that. Do I have other systems? Yup. Do I buy more Nintendo games then anything else? You bet your ass. Why? Becuase thier games are CONSITANTLY on the top of the heap, plain and simple.
Why go elsewhere when this level of gaming greatness keeps flowing? It's like cutting down the money tree in your back yard, becuase your sick of 100$ bills.
Well, there are obviously going to be the "crazies". There are those types, who blindly follow people, things, gods, e.t.c.. to the point it clutters thier thinking, and they becomes a danger to themselves(And others).Geek said:Okay. Clearly we misunderstand each other. My annoyance with certain people, not specifically you Moku, is that they'll blindly, loyally follow a corporate entity because they enjoy some of their product. I like Nintendo quite a bit, but that doesn't mean that I'll give them the benefit of the doubt just because I liked The Legend of Zelda so much. Nor will I ever attempt to "defend" them to another consumer.
Those who put what is akin to "faith" into a company, letting message board or press slander get to them, are misguided. If you're a shareholder in one of these public companies, it might hit closer to home, and I can understand that a bit more.
My stance is that I have zero relationship with these companies, outside of exchanging money with them. That's it. As a company, they get no actual love from me. They get my cash. That's all they want, really, and I'm happy to maintain that relationship with them for as long as I enjoy their product. Each corporation, regardless of publisher or console manufacturer, is on a level playing field with me. That's it.
As hyperbolic as it may be, I do feel that this quote is accurate for a decent portion of the very vocal video game enthusiast population: "Much of the public, it seems, has replaced religious faith or spiritual practice with idolatry, either of a sick popular culture or sick politicians. The result is a lot of people who are both rabid and miserable, attached to things that give them no inner sustenance and yet deeply protective of those things."
:lol I guess constant means 2-3 decent games a yearmoku said:Let me ask you this geek, do you stand in line for the newest videogame, just becuase it's a videogame? Or did you, like millions of other wait in line for Halo2, becuase of the BRAND NAME?

So you see, dear readers, the best part about being a fanboy is that you can never be proven wrong. As long as you ignore the rules of logic and sensibility, you will never have to worry about whether or not you made a good investment. That sure helps all the insecurity go away, doesn't it?
Red Mercury said:So you choice is either to drop all of that money, or be a fanboy?
"Wow I can't afford all of these excellent games, so I am just going to say how much these games suck and try and piss all over them!"
Way to logically think things out there.
The point I got from the editorial is simply that you shouldn't rag on a game if it is coming out on a system you don't have just because it is coming out on a system you don't have. It's pointless, and its something a fanboy would do.
Believe it or not there is a super secret third choice here!
Enjoy the fact that good games are coming out for all systems! Look forward to a possible port, look forward to maybe picking up those excellent games you missed out on next generation when they are cheap and used. ENJOY BEING A FUCKING GAMER, not some fucking coporate shill.
Now, this may not apply to you excatly, I don't know you, but come on.. you have to make a choice? I sure as hell hope its not a black and white choice to you.

EDIT: Also, mods, aren't there rules here against cross-posting articles verbatim? A link to the actual article wouldn't have killed the original poster, and would have given the rest of you a little bit of context.
"hello Gamespot, hardly anyone has 2k a month, 4k during holiday season to shell out for all the latest everything. Some of us have to make choices."
pfff... if most gaffers started offering services down the docks with half as much energy as all the moaning, most people _would_ have 2k EXTRA a month.
Let's get something right here. I am a fan of Videogames first. Second, I experience no droughts, becuase I play other games, as I have stated previous.Ponn01 said:Because despite what you and other nintendo fans believe some don't think every Nintendo game is great and most argue they are less frequent. Case in point the DS and Gamecube drought of games.
DCharlie said:most people aren't playign games anyways, they are just moaning about the games that other people are playing.
Ponn01 said:My absolute favorite Fanboy response is when a game gets anything below a 8.5 and screams of bias come out. Especially when none of them have played the games themselves. They want every game to get perfect 10's not realizing how much they have helped ruin rating systems. 5-6 is an average game yet how can I believe any score systems where every damn game that comes out is above average or higher.
TOP GAMES: Metal Gear Solid 4 | Killzone 2 | Dead or Alive 4 | Halo 3 | Quake 4
