• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Isn't this sony thing supposed to be today?

It's 21 July in Japan. So..tomorrow really (if you're in Europe). Or later tonight perhaps if you're in the US.

Basically we're about 4 hours away from 9am in Japan. I'm not sure when we can expect first news and/or how much. I think it'll be a much more evenly balanced event between ps2/psp/ps3. I guess seeing RE5 at least seems reasonable.

As always, GAF will build it up to unbelievable heights and then be (following this projection)

disappointed
angry
bitter
declaring the company clueless and the big D word.

I'm glad it's getting late here, and I'll miss all that :lol

its like that on every board.

you were on the ps2 board in IGN. you know better ;)

Looks this party will be big. Square finally released some new FFXII screens, Level 5 unveiled their new RPG and Capcom showed RE5. Rouge Galaxy and FFXII might be playable! :O

Unfortunately, removing the multi-memory format support, the second hdmi-out, some of the USBs etc. wouldn't make up the cost of a HDD.

Personally, I'd rather they keep all the extras, I'll get the HDD seperately if needs be. It's far easier to add a HDD latterly than a second HDMI output or the memory support etc. I can see why some would prefer the HDD in the box though vs the rest, but for me some of "the rest" could be useful.

I hope they release 2 packages and i could buy a HD-less PS3 for 50 bucks less.

Don't/Won't remove a damn thing. Screw the HDD for now. If they can pack it in with everything else, awesome. But I don't want them dropping functionality for it. If they bail on the PS3 being a hub/switch for the living room this gen, I'll give up on them ever getting it right. Then again, I have a 30GB 2.5" HDD sitting around in a USB enclosure right now. And a 7200rpm one in my lappy. So the thought of having an add-on HDD doesn't really bother me as much as it will some of you. :D PEACE.

I'm off to bed but when I wake up tomorrow I expect to see some PS3 gameplay! Fuck yeah, don't disappoint me Sony.

(Oh, an a RE5 trailer would be nice)

Depending on your definition of "gameplay" i think you'll be quite disappointed :p

At most I'd expect more movies, but more of them should be "realtime" (not CG). RE5 would indeed be real nice (and from the shots it looks plausibly realtime/not prerendered).

I'm off too, hopefully anything that's shown will have hit by the time I wake :)

I just want a new demo or two. I don't think they will blow their wad before TGS, but if they have something to clown MS with, they'll probably want to spring the trap now. But with the PS2 and PSP still their financial treasures for the next year, they should probably be more focused on them. :? PEACE.

I'm sure something big will be there. They haven't really talked much about PS3 games lately so this is their first opportunity since E3.

Not only that, but this will be the first time SCEI will have the opportunity to show anything PLAYSTATION 3 related on Japanese soil.....I don't think they will miss the chance to show something PS3 related today.....the fact the Xbox Meeting is on Monday gives them even more incentive to do this....

i am honestly not expecting any news or anything

there is no hype. if its something big. we would have heard something

the Resident Evil 5 thing doesnt count since its famitsu magazine thing

You mean like the announcement of the PSP, which had no hype at all?

i dont remember the psp stuff back then. i wasnt big follower

however. everyone waiting for MS show. and many people talked about it.

i dont see the same for the sony meeting. its like dead you know ?

are you sure there is even a meeting ??? and if there is meeting for real, will we see something??

Well to give you a run down. Sony's E3 2003 conference was basically like any of their other conferences. Kaz came out and gave off some stats, some developers came out and showed off some PS2 games. Then at the end Kutaragi comes out and announces the PSP out of nowhere. There weren't any rumors surrounding it and no one really saw it coming. Sony kept the announcement very quiet.

As with the PSP, you don't need to hype something to announce something big. Even this E3 was like that. Sure people were expecting the PS3, but with the demos that showed off? Nope.

well.. thats cool. lets just hope we will have something soon

This shows that we'll atleast be seeing new stuff

"Later this afternoon, during the annual Japanese trade show known as "PlayStation Meeting 2005," THQ and Yuke's will reveal the portable version of WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2006 to an unsuspecting audience (though, now that we told everybody, I guess they will suspect it, hmmm?)"

http://psp.ign.com/articles/635/635098p1.html

I think this is the US version of the game announced in Famitsu (Exciting Pro Wrestling). So could the other new PS2, PS3 and PSP games from Famitsu show up there too?

Some annual thing. They had one in like Feb or Mar before the PS2 launch. Not sure if it was the same show though. And it should be ending soon. PEACE.

But then it will be just like the 360! :(

No, because it will have a big Shiny "Playstation 3" on it, and yes, it does make a difference! :lol

Anyway, I'm hoping for some new PSP games, if nothing worthwhile is announced for the PSP we can pretty much assume Sony has lost interest in the platform and has turned their concentration on PS3. Son't let me down Sony.
