It is time for Bushido Blade

Stinkles

A remake, not a sequel, on next-gen hardware. 360 or PS3. No extra bullshit. No crazy characters. No stupid special moves. Just Samurai, swords and a bamboo forest to fight in. Throw in some weather, just for shits and giggles.

Some of the greatest fighting game moments I have ever had involved standing there with my Katana raised and ready, waiting for the other guy to crack and charge.

was that the one that you could chop their leg and they would have to shuffle for the rest of the fight?

YES. this was even better in bushido blade 2, using a character who could keep his sword sheathed. the tension was awesome. stand, wait, one decisive stroke when your opponent rushes in. man, i pissed off my roommates that way.

but i think the developers of bushido blade went on to do that SHAMEFUL, DEPRESSING "kengo" game, so there's not much likelihood of a good sequel. i guess squenix could do it themselves.

It's about courage, pride and honour....and your ability to chop the other guy's leg off!! :lol
Loved that game.

It sure worked with the new Brave Fencer Musashi games!

It's also way past time for a new Karateka, by a developer who has more respect for Mechner than they do for focus groups. Hopefully once the thrill of 20,000 CHARACTERS ON SCREEN fades we'll see some next-gen oomph going into more intimate combat games.

Yeah, loved that game, even when it had its flaws, it was an unique experience to be lived. I´d love to see a DS sequel. Touch imput in first person mode could be awesome.

That was one of the best games on playstation although i never got to play the sequel the original was a classic, a game i have to have in my collection before i start the next generation.

I think that would actually convince me to buy a ds imagine swinging your sword with you finger that would be amazing for real.

I'd love to see another Busihdo game, but if so closer to the original. The sequel was a disappointment.

As much of a Soul Calibur (and Blade) fan as I am, Bushido Blade thanks to its damage system and one hit kills created a tension for the fights that just hasn't existed before or arguably since it came out.

So many good fights between me and my cousin on the beach level.

That 10 minute fight I had in this game with a friend of mine will always go down as one of the greatest gaming experiences ever. God the tension was insanely high everytime one of us would rush at each other.

I completely agree. While it was fun on the PSX, the graphics took away from the overall realistic feel of the game. I would absolutely love to see a next-gen incarnation whether it's a remake or a sequel.

I never played the original, but I put a LOT of hours into the sequel.
I remember playing quests over and over trying to get a certain character unlocked, but one slip up, DEAD and you'd have to start all over.
Loved that game.

This thread is awesome. I'm hoping that WotS Online for X360 is like BB 1 on steroids. I played well over 100 hours worth of system link run and fight with my brother back in the day. Too bad they pussified it with the second one.

Okay, I remember figuring out a couple moves that won instantly basically everytime I used them on anyone, computer or real, if I did them at the start of the match. I don't remember what stance and buttons they were (one of them was the middle stance and I pressed back once or twice, then forward once or twice and a button, I think, square maybe), because I haven't played the game since '97. Maybe they just sucked at the game (I'm talking computers here, too) or something, but the game felt broken to me. Definitely was in single-player mode. Never played the sequel, for the record.

I loved this game. A friend and I in college would play it for hours. I love how one match could last over half an hour and the next just five seconds. It had excellent music as well.

Too bad it was just another series where every subsequent sequel forget more and more what made the original so brilliant and fun.

awesome game with great atmosphere. It was also fun tricking ppl into bowing down telling them it was a "special move" and then killing them.

But yea me and my friends would have marathon matches. The bamboo and water stages rocked hard.

I liked everything about the game except for the fucker with the gun. He'd shoot me as soon as he stopped talking and would ruin my win streaks

The first one was a true classic. Oh the endless hours my friends and I put into that one. And the battles were just as fun if they lasted 10 seconds or 10 minutes.

Sequel was very meh.

Great games! A remake would be great to see on the next-gen systems.. I don't know if any Square Enix representative scours these boards, but if they do, PAY ATTENTION! This idea is great, throw in some memorable characters, perhaps even a cameo by, let's say, Cloud and Sephiroth, and you got another great game on your hands.

Just for the fans (of which there seem to be a lot actually hehe)...
