It would so amazing if I could just make every person who says "No need for a remake, just release remaster." disappear. If only they were gone...

Nah. The Resident Evil remakes are inferior to the PSX originals. Just give me those please.

The Oblivion remake can go in the garbage as far as I'm concerned. A 125gb behemoth that runs like ass. Where's the upside? Better rock textures? Uh... no thanks.

Bethesda can you just hire Nightdive to give us a nice and simple remaster with controller support? Same with FO3 and NV. Thank you.

So it's, another of those 'How can i tell everyone Im stupid with telling everyone I'm stupid ?' threads... It is serves as consolation prize...I agree that a pure remaster without ANY QoL feature is, by definition, a bad product (eg AC The Ezio Trilogy..)

Nah. Some games. It's just not worth the time. Money. Resources to overhaul everything.

Also, some games end up soulless and worse off that's remade.

Just release the remaster

I don't know, human traffickers are my top pick, followed by whoever people whoever created escort missions where NPCs walk faster than your walk speed, but slower than your run speed.

As a long time WoW player, I feel this in my fucking soul. Especially a mission a few years back where you had to escort a drunken idiot who takes you in a big fucking circle before actually moving forward with the quest.

If they aren't hellbound then God is dead.

I'd put RE4R and SH2R almost 1:1 with the originals because they respected the source material, SH2R especially gets a nod because I read they included some stuff they wanted in the original.
2 being my favorite with 1 coming after. I honestly do feel they did the original a great justice.
The apartments and hospital sections were done so well and how they introduce the Alternate Worlds, over time gives the feeling that the locations are almost a live in a way, with the transformations taking place.
Lakeview was also done really well and now doesn't feel like an 10 min romp. Feels more complete and explorable .

Especially considering how low quality most remasters are, particularly if you have any regard for the original game's art style. I'm astonished by how effectively the industry managed to turn an idea as surefire as the remaster and turn it into a cynical cash grab. I knew they'd get there, but not not this fast. A remake might sometimes be a step back from the original, but at least it gives you a unique take on the game that can stand alongside the original on your shelf.

I think a lot of people also forget that it's also kinda fine to leave old games alone. They still work. Grow a pair, buy the original hardware, and play it properly.

I love original Max Payne and will always love it but remake can be something special. I don't like when "remake" means only better graphics and same everything (TloU Part 1) but more something like RE4 Remake. Still the same overall story and bits but done differently.

Max Payne 1 and 2 were there for me during some hard times. Those games were so engaging and the world sucked me in to where I could forget what's bothering me for awhile. Being a direct sequel, it was extremely easy to get into Payne 2
I should replay them. It's been long enough.

Do it brother. Just remember to install fixpack for MP1 and you are good to go.

Liopleurodon, at Cornell University they have an incredible piece of scientific equipment known as the tunneling electron microscope. Now, this microscope is so powerful that by firing electrons you can actually see images of the atom, the infinitesimally minute building blocks of our universe. Liopleurodon, if I were using that microscope right now... I still wouldn't be able to locate my interest in your problem. Thank you for your post.

I will not disappear…

I don't need Bloodborne Remake, I just want remaster of it. Bloodborne's visuals and artstyle is already perfect, I just want higher FPS.

Too many reimaginings these days. I believe if you're making a remake then you should have a remaster or at minimum a quality port available to point to for the people who never experienced the original and failing that you should go get fucked.

I replay many of my old(er) games and I don't much care for remasters and remakes. In general we get them a little too often and also for games that simply don't need them (yet). I also believe a simple patch would suffice, but that doesn't generate profit.
I have a few myself. Some you get cheap because you have the original. That's nice. Especially on PC they are usually not worth the money because of mods.

I also much rather buy a PC port that has a proper settings menu than a remaster from a game that is from 1 or 2 gens ago.

The latest remake I bought was Silent Hill 2. Never played the original.

I don't think there is anyone I hate more than them in this world. :messenger_pensive:
Understand their view first before making a judgment. I'm %50 cautious from both sides cause sometimes the remake is broken and shouldn't be happen in the first place and that just a one man opinion view and not about me personally.

Nah REmake is miles better than the original, but I'd argue that RE2 and RE4 are equal to the originals, the only original one that's better than the remake is 3.

Depend on game.

When I heard "Please Chrono trigger remake", I am puzzled. A remake is guaranted to be inferior to the original.

For Vagrant Story a remake with the same combat system makes sense to me.

Overall I just want some re-release for games difficult to access. Some remake are nice but not something I look for necessarily

Remakes are the worst. There are only a handful or them that are objectively better than the base game.

Even some remasters are questionable and meddle with the OG too much, although for the most part they're ok.
