It was suppose to be multi-platform, when THQ was the publisher. What happens if Nintendo was the only one willing to publish it? It becomes an exclusive.

No, even after the merger with the Korean company they still said it was multi-media, multi-platform.

My bet is on EA, they have history of picking JP developers in the past and currently they have more interest in multiplayer focused games, so it would make sense.

I can't wait for this game to not only be confirmed not to be published by Nintendo, but Last gen only.

The wishful thinking is getting ridiculous.

Im willing to make a bet on it. Not Nintendo, Multiplatform and the only way there are next gen versions is if they are released significantly later than the last gen ones.

Damn man, you're so much against it that it's almost coming across as wishful thinking on your part that it doesn't come to Wii U.

Unless Nintendo themselves are funding it, no reason why the game should be exclusive. Valhalla needs to create as much of an audience with their ip as possible.

I don't quite get your point, sorry.

You don't understand why I'd assume it's good, or why I'd like it on the platforms I mentioned?
Sorry I wasn't very clear.

I don't know why you'd hope so much that it'll be on a certain platform(s), because I can't see why you'd think it'll be that good in the end. Is it just because of its creator and the trailer that we saw? Genuine question.

If thats true, and they said that after finding a new publisher, then that elimnates Nintendo.

Do you know the source for that info?

To all our fans and members of the industry, thank you for your continued support.

We would like to announce that Valhalla Game Studios Co., Ltd. and Doobic Co., Ltd., a top developer of online shooters for the PC, have entered into a mutual technical collaboration contract. Additionally, Valhalla Game Studios and Doobic have reached an agreement to establish a new joint venture corporation, Valhalla&Doobic Co., Ltd.

We would also like to announce our decision to contract the development of the PC and tablet versions of “Devil’s Third” to Valhalla&Doobic Co., Ltd.

In addition to both home console and PC versions, Valhalla Game Studios plans to expand the “Devil’s Third” universe across a variety of digital devices and through various forms of entertainment.

THQ went out of business in January of 2013. I still wouldn't rule out Nintendo but I'm sure Itagaki would still rather have this game be a multi-plat.

And Valhalla bought back the rights to DT in July of 2012. The deal with the Korean company is the last we've heard and I'll stick with that.

Id make no bones about wanting Itakagis next game to actually be a success, if thats what you mean.

But thats neither here no there. Im pretty confident its not even going to have a WiiU version, much less be exclusive.

With all the issues through development, I will genuinely surprised if this game doesn't end up being hot garbage or totally mediocre at best.

Itagaki games don't suffer in quality because they're in development for too long, they suffer when they aren't.

You're right. I thought it was later than that for some reason.

Incoming mobile version.

Some people really are gullible.
A controller heavy tailored console twitch based fighter on PC. Not happening.

At best, maybe 6-8 months after the console release, if it is wildly successful.

Devils third is a Massively online focused third person shooter. Yes it will have a meele element, but its still a shooter. It was also originally annouced for PCPS360.

What on earth are you talking about?

Yeah, it's just pedigree really.

I think even if it was still PS360, it'd be fine, but with the heavy online focus, and given room for a user base to actually grow and mature, I think it needs the platforms with a longer life to come.

What a stupid post.

Oh, OK?

Should we just start counting the amount of times he's delayed a game that turned out amazing or just go on a lengthy tirade about how NG II should be the best action game ever released, has the potential for it, and ended up being crap because Microsoft and Tecmo buttfucked Team Ninja?

Know your facts, son. Then get back to me.

What i dont understand, is, if it was third party, why the publisher hasnt been announced yet? Especially after the game was announced yesterday, to be revealed this year.

Is this common practice? If not, why keep it a secret?

Good question. I feel like if Bethesda or some similar publisher would've picked it up, we would've known by now. The game was announced already, we know Valhalla has been looking for a publisher. What publisher would want to keep it a secret that they're publishing it?

What a stupid post.

Eh, it's true. Ninja Gaiden was delayed numerous times. Ninja Gaiden 2 was rushed. DoA4 was rushed. DoA2 received numerous delays.

It's pretty true, imo. When he has time, he released great games. When he's rushed, his games are subpar (doa4) or great with huge flaws (NG2).

exactly. He's a "when it's done" guy.

which was heartbreaking on the Xbox but always worth the wait.

Good question. Maybe they want it to be a part of their E3 lineup in a big way? Announcing it beforehand might take away from it.

There's a difference between a delay and being stuck in dev hell.

Sounds silly, but I've been hype for this game or awhile so whatever its on I'll have to consider whether or not to buy a new console I guess. Unless early reviews sound like garbage...

Anyways, if not Wiiu what could the Bayo2 style game that's been hinted at supposed to be? I'm kind of at a loss as to what it is.

Sounds to me like the problems are external. I suppose that's a type of development hell, but not really anything that would make me worry about quality.

Haven't they had to build a new engine entirely? Or switch engines?

Here:
Devil's Third switched engines during its development, as the company responsible for making its original engine went out of business. Since that time, Valhalla Game Studios have continued development using an adaptation of video game developer Relic Entertainment's engine. Although a version of Devil's Third for the Wii U has not been confirmed, Itagaki reports that the game would run perfectly fine on the system. Devil's Third uses the same game engine as Darksiders II.[2]

Would be cool if it was on Wii U. I imagine he would do something interesting with the gamepad.

There's a difference between a delay and being stuck in dev hell.

Theres a difference between not having enough funds to work on the game and developmet hell where the creators dont know what they want to do with the game. Itagaki put a mortgage on his home to help finish development, pretty sure he's confident in what he's doing with the game.

Day 1.

That was three years ago, lol. Not saying they haven't run into problems, but I have no reason to believe the development problems have anything to do with the team.

I have faith in Itagaki as far as action games go, so I'll remain optimistic. :)

When was this game suppose to be released in the first place?

It was announced for PC.

It's also an online multiplayer 3rd person shooter with melee, not really a fighter

its strange i was thinking about this game yesterday, after seeing the flop reception of yaiba. thought to myself is there space for action games like this i feel like the weirdly disproportional dislike of yaiba sort of seemed to indicate it.

how the hell was MS apart of that?!

They... published the game? They, in their infinite wisdom, were hell bent on having an exclusive game release in the same month/week as MGS 4?

NG II being what it is is as much of Microsoft's fault as it is Tecmo's fault. They fucked the game with their dumb decisions. Microsoft decided they wanted to release the game earlier than it should have been released, just for the sake of releasing it alongside MGS 4. Tecmo had their own internal troubles with Itagaki, because Yasuda was a dickhead, he didn't pay Itagaki his bonuses for completing DOA 4 on time. He didn't pay Ozawa and a lot of other people for overtime during NG II's development.

All of this shit could have easily been avoided had Yoshihito Kakihara stayed alive long enough. Or had he a worthy successor, which he didn't.
He knew how to run Team Ninja properly and how to deal with Itagaki.
