Hoping this is a decent send-off to parents, teachers, etc.
Unfortunately, as teenagers we sometimes forget our grown-up friends. Like it or not, adults form the most important part of any path you may take into adulthood. For every adult, there is a kind, caring individual, intelligent and selfless, wise beyond their (sometimes many) years. They are all our teachers. Over the years, through the highs and the lows, it always came down to the fact that you adults, are our teachers, are our friends, are all fathers and mothers to every graduate within this room, and nothing can replace you. Similar to the very first steps in life, as the graduates walked across this stage today, every step, confident in nature, has been fuelled by a pure love for their parents. In the future, every step will share this quality. Parents - as we try to honour your wishes and make you proud, remember this. Graduates - never forget this love.
EDIT:... one hour left.. gonna put my friend's yearbook poem in :lol..
In a speech mainly about friendship, it is only fitting that I finish with a poem created by a friend for friends.
Our time is done
We had some fun
But now we must move on.
The future will bring
Some stranger things
Our memories will live on.
Loved a cancelled class
We would sit on our ass
Teachers kept us on track.
Dont forget to phone
Should you feel alone
Your friends have got your back.
Friendships may end
Others may mend
Go and make us proud
Say what you will
There are books to fill
Stand and yell it loud
Playing on teams
It always seemed
That forever we would stay
Well miss these halls
We can no longer stall
We must face our life today.
So when you hear the ring of the bell
Get out there and give em hell
Do it for McCrae
