I think you judge an album by how bizarre the cover is.
I judge an album by pretty much everything but what the cover art is. Though I do love quality coverart on albums.

Audioslave is such a depressing band. I remember my friend who worshipped Rage and claimed that even though they're signed to Sony, they're just doing it to get their message out there. And that's why Tom Morello 'n friends are currently making some of the most derivative, MOR bullshit ever.
Ha.

Fun fact: RATM was one of the first bands to bitch and moan about music piracy when Napster came about. THE IRONY. I love RATM's efforts especially for when it comes to guitar playing, but how the fuck can I take their message seriously anymore?

They lashed out against capitalism, called it evil among other things - but they threw a fit when kids pirated their music? What the fuck?

I just wonder what's going through Tom Morello's head when he's playing that shit.

It's just that all the album covers from all the discs you listed are completely out there. Has this become a common thing, or is it just a coincidence?

I can't find a pic of the Surfer Rosa cover without the boobies. Bummer.

Eww. I hope you didn't BUY that.

I listened to Superunknown today and felt really bad. That's all over. :(

...I did. I liked the self-titled one enough, more just for the riffy nature of it which made it a pretty good record to throw in before the gym, but this new one is painfully bland. Kinda bummed about it since between this and RJD2's Since We Last Spoke, the last two CDs I picked up haven't been as good as I was hoping; though don't misinterpret that as saying Since We Last Spoke isn't good....it is. It's just not quite what I was hoping for and I find it a bit dry.

That said, I'll be gunning for Ulrich Schnauss' Trains Passing Far Away if I can find it in stock and Better Than Ezra's new CD next week, though I may take the time to scope out how that's one coming. Their last two albums were exceptionally good in my opinion, as they started fleshing out their sound more while still retaining the carefree, fun nature of their music.

It's a common coincidence. I listen to out there music generally, and it quite frequently has fitting coverart. Works for me. The cases mostly just sit away from view anyway, so when they're really awful (I'm looking at you, Calexico) or really great it doesn't matter all that much.

GG Duo: To the best of my knowledge no. I'm not too big into B&S, I'm just kinda now getting into them, soooo this is one of the first things I've picked up. It looks like it's just the stuff from the EPs from the liner notes, and that's all.

"Man, I'm hungry. I can't wait 'til work is over, this shit is really boring. Turkey, that's a good sandwich."

WHAT I BOUGHT TODAY:

Demon Days - Gorillaz
Silent Alarm - Bloc Party
Bedtime for Democracy - Dead Kennedys

Beck - Guero
Eels - Electro-shock Blues
Wilco - Summerteeth
Spoon - Gimme Fiction

For Jinx, who asked about Spoon, well, they usually sound rather simple, with catchy punkish-guitar riffs with some great piano licks and the singer has a great voice. They can do incredibly great melodies (like on Kill the Moonlight). I haven't listened to Gimme Fiction enough yet to be sure about it, but it looks like a cool record, and well, I Turn My Camera On is just an INCREDIBLE song.

After I bought Ivy's In the Clear a few weeks ago, I've been picking up some of their other albums--Long Distance (which I like almost as much as In the Clear) and Apartment Life (which I'm a little lukewarm on).

I pulled out NIN's With Teeth last night, after not touching it for a while--what a disappointment that album was.
