IT'S HAPPENING.gif: Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal is coming to Nintendo 3DS

Haven't played Yu-Gi-Oh in like a decade. Is it still fun? I remember it being one of the absolute best TCG's ever. I hope they don't force story stuff on you.

I kinda enjoyed the ones on GBA (the ones with story campaign, not the tournament ones.)
I hope this one will also be about story campaign and RPG like exploration.

Also, it better have some AR stuff :P

I hope this is in!

I got out of the series back when the first (technically second if you count that one that was in Japan) season, and back around 2010 I got back into the cards and it's just as fun as ever. I've been on a year hiatus, but that's because I've been waiting for this 3DS game to come out.

I remember having a deck in the GBA one that would 100% crash the game literally. Played that thing so damned much. So many good memories. :D

I will put aside my ego, and play as this weird looking fellow just to be able to experience YU-Gi-Oh! AR.

Pokémon is going 3D, Yu-Gi-Oh! is finally going AR.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Is one of the few series where the manga is behind the anime.

The last DS one was pretty great. I was hoping they would make a 3DS game you could update with DLC expansion packs whenever new card sets come out, but for now sadly it doesn't seem like they are going to be doing that. Not a fan of the Xyz monster gimmick, but I might give it a try.

Between this and New Love Plus+, is this some Konami support on my 3DS?

I haven't played Yu-Gi-Oh! in literally years; only got a bit into GX, if at all. Worldwide Edition on GBA is the best that I have played, and I've recently been meaning to return to the series. This seems like a good chance to do that. I suppose the metagame has changed quite a bit, but I won't be battling in a motorcycle, will I?

ABOUT TIME.

Duels of the Planeswalkers has nothing on actual deckbuilding (even if the gameplay isn't as good), and it's not on a handheld. Hopefully they bring back the music and story length from WC2010 (I wasn't a fan of WC2011 in those aspects).

what does 40 playable characters EVEN mean in a yugioh game lol.

like as in people to play against?

Haven't really seen Zexal, but didn't the game system pretty much go all Magic now or was that something else in terms of the new game system?

When can we can finally have fully 3d monsters duking it out, or will this just be a reskin of tag force? Hope new system = new stuff :X

It's been a while but this card effect seems quite cool.

If only yugioh stayed with cool effects like this , but instead they went with so many horrible rules each new update.

40 playable characters means that each will come with their anime decks.
You'll be able probably to play against the anime deck you see on TV

Dark Duel Stories and Eternal Duelist Soul were amazing. If this is anything like either of them then I'm so in.

Online Play.
Please.
Online Play.
And no fucking broken single player AI. That's why I hated 5Ds 2012.
Also CARD SHOP. PLEASE. NO RANDOM CARDS. ;~;

ah.

hope it has some legacy decks/characters. know nothing about zexal :/

wonder if the AI in these games will finally be decent. They really do seem to chug in the recent games now shit is getting more and more complex.

Hopefully it'll have two modes like the GBA/DS games - a story mode where you face anime characters and a 'World Championship' mode with additional monster opponents. 40 opponents isn't actually that many considering the huge variety in cards...

Pretty sure all the DS games had online play. The AI was broken only in that it took ages to make a decision if there were a lot of cards on the board/in your hand, even if it's obvious to a human player (also, it would rarely do something completely pointless).

I can't remember if the DS games had a password system (if they did, I never used it), but in Worldwide Edition you could type in a card's password to instantly get a copy of it - hopefully they bring this back. It'll probably be tied to the currency system, though, so here's hoping for reasonable prices!

I would be very surprised if this didn't have online play since the last one on DS and most of the DS ones do have Wi-Fi. The last one even had Wi-Fi Tournaments.

I'd be interested but it's probably going to have a bunch of story junk or forced duels I don't care about.

Whichever GBA game that was that basically had different tiers of opponents and you just dueled whoever was the best one. No nonsense, just straight deck management + dueling.

I don't know what's going on either, I just know that the main character is named Yuma and that children's card game is pretty serious.

There better be a Ruby Eyes, Onyx Dragon

The DS ones had a separate Championship mode that plays like what you're describing - the story is only needed for unlocking more packs. If you don't care about those, you could ignore it entirely.

This one doesn't follow the 'World Championship' naming scheme, so it's not guaranteed; however, I'd be surprised if they left it out considering how little effort it would take compared to the story mode.
