IT'S HAPPENING.gif: Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal is coming to Nintendo 3DS

The best things about the games is that you get a lot of CPU opponents to fight, and you get access to like all the latest cards without having to drop tons of money. Great for experimentation, but also, great for casual Yu-Gi-Oh! players.

Might pick this up. Haven't played the CCG or video games since the set with Cyber Dragon was released I think. May have been the set with the Dark World monsters. Used to be fucking hardcore into the paper game. Ran shit at my local shop...man, the memories are flooding back.

Yeah it's what I loved too. There are times when I don't want to play against other person, and I just wanted to try a fun-themed deck that would get completely destroyed if I face a human opponent. The CPU opponents fills my needs in this.

Just don't be like that one World Championship where the stronger enemy practically cheats and uses like 4 Raigekis in their decks.

FINALLY. Why did it even take them so long this time?

How is Zexal anyway? I kind of enjoyed 5D's but I haven't much good about the new series.

Still, that doesn't really matter for this, will be buying.

I am interested in this game. I haven't played Yu-Gi-Oh for a few years but have enjoyed most tcgs I have played.

Question though: how do the XYZ monsters work? I assume they are a certain type of summon like fusion but don't really understand.

I don't know what's going on either, I just know that the main character is named Yuma and that children's card game is pretty serious.

That looks like... DBZ + Saint seiya

I have to say i am actually super excited since i always loved the games loved making decks out of those insanely priced cards.

since people here seemed curious i did watch the first part of zexal and bit and pieces of part 2 zexal in my opinion is kind of a mixture between gx and the original yu gi oh series where there is sort of a mix between casual duels and serious duels i personally like this series since they tried something different with the main character
he is actually extremely bad at dueling and a lot of the episodes especially the first half of the first season grow as a duelist he does get lucky and has deus ex machina but i think his growth as a duelist was better than the previous main characters

Sorry for the long post
Tl:dr
If you are intereested in the new yu gi oh anime check out the first season it was preety good

Loved the hell out if Yu-Gi-Oh back in the day, from the shows to the games on GBA. Would this be worth getting if you haven't been following the show or anything for like over 8+ years I guess?

The show is pretty much irrelevant to the game, at least to me. I never cared about it but still played the game.

There are some new card types and effects are a bit more complicated than they were in the early game, but it doesn't seem to bad.

The only one I've played is ironically Falsebound Kingdom on GC and I LOVED it, it was very much a traditional JRPG with monster collecting and shit, cards had little to do with the game.

I always wanted a sequel, shame it was rated so poorly and likely didn't sell well. But DAMN IT I loved it and it had great music!

So if I want to get into the DS games (or Dual Transer for Wii, da fuck @ the name?!), which should I go towards? Thinking about the original series' Nightmare Troubadour. Watched a bit of GX, an episode or two of 5Ds and Zexal.

If you're planning on buying this 3DS game I'd recommend one of the later DS releases just so that the transition in deck mechanics isn't so big.
