Hey he still watches it though. If you looked like that, you wouldn't need porn.
Companies use Advertising funds to push agendas all the time. If you don't fall in line then no marketing dollars for you. That's why some companies will advertise on conservative networks and some refuse.
It's USER generated content and nobody associates ads with the content. Twitter hosts porn for crying out loud. Game companies do it all the time. Post an unflattereing critique of a product and there goes the marketing dollars. Culture wars definitely play a part with marketing dollars for some companies. That's only if there's a decent market for it in the first place, a big enough. Regardless, the very presence of advertising begets regulation and moderation. This is the case for anything.. cable TV, podcasts, etc. The notion that advertisers not just being a free for all for content and requiring certain stipulations is somehow pushing an agenda is juvenile. There are some things a company just doesn't want to be associated with and consumers bad for business. Elon Musk is WELL aware of this and was way before he bought twitter.
Because you're the product. They sell your personal information much like Google. Why is it Facebook makes so much money? They’ve never had to charge a subscription.
Yea... Twitter actually changing in any real way.
It hasnt lol.
As many have pointed out, a lot of the "undesirables" with big accounts on the site have made no indication they are going anywhere.
But it seems to me twitter is going to be very much the same platform it always has been with a few added caveats.

And my point is that people don't associate the ads to user content. Some companies use their ad dollars to force the platform holders to enforce what the companies deem appropriate. Get it?That's true, if you ignore all the times sponsors have pulled funds from user generated content providers because of campaigning or bad optics.

Now we're getting into an interesting aspect of this situation! I think there's a fair amount of hypocrisy on both sides here. It hasn't changed in any real way, yet people are freaking out and pushing advertisers to pull their support, and blue checks are threatening to leave the platform, and the press is writing hit pieces. All the way to the point where they're calling account impersonation "free speech," despite initially being really concerned with account impersonation. Are people suggesting that they don't want Twitter to protect celebrities from impersonation accounts?
On the other hand, there's a new sheriff in town, and now freedom of speech is the law of the land on twitter. Except none of the people Musk said shouldn't have been banned have had their accounts restored, and Musk will be appointing a group of people who decides who is and isn't allowed to come back, and those people will seemingly also decide who gets banned in the future, and your free speech will be sent all the way to the bottom of the replies as long as it's "free" speech.
We can disagree on what qualifies as hypocrisy from Musk's supporters and critics, but the above would be my case for both.
Do you mean the blue check celebrities? I would hope they're not going anywhere, as they add value to the platform.
As long as those caveats are avoiding the sort of edge cases in censorship that a lot of people weren't happy about, and that the original Twitter CEO wasn't comfortable with, that's pretty close to what I was expecting all along.
Its too soon to call. But what Elon Musk needs to realize is he drew a giant target on his back, and because of the culture war regardless of what he chooses hes going to become public enemy number 1 for one side of the isle, whichever one it ends up being.
Theres no win situation here for him really, and I mean he probably doesn't care much, but he DOES care about the ad revenue and attempting to recuperate his 40 billion dollars. I have no idea how he plans to do that long term, but turning twitter into a subscription service probably won't cut it lol
That’s his goal.Ha ha ha. Get fucked Elon
No way in hell I’m paying to use that hellsite. He’s going to bury the fucking thing completely if he does this.
It's not his goal. His goal is hoping his half brained ego driven schemes pay off. When they don't because he's a clown, he'll be like lol I meant to sink it.That’s his goal.
To fucking burn it
This is kind of why people who complain about TikTok being treated unfairly have kind of a point. The difference is that Zuck is selling your info to the highest bidder dispassionately whereas TikTok is giving it to the Chinese for free. Your personal info is all going somewhere but the intentions of the buyers are completely different. Corporations want to surveil you to sell you more shit and the Chinese want to surveil you to crush dissent at home and potentially negatively influence elections and national mood in a Psyop exercise. Social media is a dangerous tool in any hands but some hands are dirtier than others.not sure if you're being serious but the answer is adverts and collecting/selling data of users.
facebook on the surface might look like a social media platform but it's gathering information on literally everyone and that includes people who never signed up to facebook. what they do is create a "shadow profile" so if you never joined facebook they most likely still have a profile for you. if you've ever gave someone your data (phone number, email, address, etc) and they are on facebook and sync their contacts then your data is on facebooks servers. they take that data and match it with existing users or start building a profile on you. for example, i don't use facebook anymore but people at my work do. person A has my name/number. person B has my name/number. person C. person D. facebook will have a profile with name and phone number. if i were ever to sign up then they'd be like well that phone number matches so we'll recommend you friend person A/B/C/D. they actually have a tool where you can put in your email/phone number to check if they have it and you can mark it not to be used. it's a bit fucking stupid because they still have your info. it's just goes onto a "not allowed to use" list.
think of all the shit people post on facebook and then know that facebook will track you across the internet through their "Pixel" tracker. if you've ever seen a FB icon, "log in with facebook", or looked an embedded photo/share link on a website then facebook knows you visited that site.
and that's just facebook. instagram is more of the same and whatsapp too.
all that data is collected to build adverts to show you and your data is valuable so it makes them $.
google/facebook/amazon are probably the worst when it comes to tracking you. twitter hardly compares in scale to what those 3 gather on you.
Porn is overrated , man.Hey he still watches it though.
Because while sex is incredible, sometimes you just don't want to deal with everything it entails. Find something you like, beat your meat, a quick clean-up; bish bash bosh, done.
Elon wouldn’t buy something for 44b just to destroy it. I don’t know what that means, but im willing to wait it out and see the results.
Whatever drugs Musk is on.. He should share with his employees.

So.... He's an idiot. Reminds me when Bush Sr. Didn't know how to check out at the grocery store, and thought bar code readers were novel.
The guy has multiple successful businesses and became the richest man in the world because of it. Extreme left people would love for him to be an idiot, but he isn't. Twitter has millions and millions of users and there are no alternatives to it, it will be fine. It's just extremists melting down because they are losing power over public discourse.

And its gone.
What a hilarious cluster fuck.
Nice try. Dude clearly is an idiot, I mean - you think what's happening here is evidence of an intelligent life form?
But I am glad he's running it into the ground. Twitter is a cess pool which coarsened our dialog. It going into the trash bin is only a net positive - so I am glad he's failing.
The amount of folks that shield this dude from literally any criticism is mind boggling to me lol
He is CLEARLY fumbling this rollout of whatever this is supposed to be. If this was anyone else was in this predicament you wouldn't have anyone denying it
