I've been having a lot of fun since I got mine, it's quality time spent. Exercising comes pretty much as a free bonus on top of that, you'll sometimes forget that you're even doing it. It's also the future of urban mobility, imo. Fights climate change and improves your physical and mental health, while being very enjoyable.

I'm not overweight, quite the opposite (a bit on the skinny side), but cycling still helped me there. Gained some weight as it makes me hungrier, while still preserving a toned belly (although that does depend a lot on how healthy your diet is).
