I've been slowly going through the light novel series and so far it's great. The anime follows the light novels pretty consistently

It seems like eons ago but I remember the crucial details and the strongly personified characters. Even the secondary characters are fleshed out and feel like real people.

A testament to it's quality and long lasting appeal. The military jargon was also on point.

The best thing about FMP is that it's so easy to get into. Just sit down and watch it without a care in the world. So no pressure on your nuts like every other hype anime that is currently doing rounds now.
