ive got an 80gb hard drive, p4 2.4ghz processor in this big, bad dell.

i just found out that its all being powered by a 250w power supply. i know thats real low but is it crippling my computer at all? what would be some side effects to a low power supply. also, should i upgrade? if so, to how much?

You should be fine if your pc has been stable. If you aren't experiencing random restarts etc, I wouldn't worry.

I would upgrade to atleast 400 or greater.

Dell generally only put the kind of PSU in there which is needed to run the thing.
You shouldn’t need to upgrade as long as you don’t plan to put more things in it or a high end graphics card.

If you plan on getting a x800 or 6x00 another HDD or so you might need to get at least 400w... otherwise, no need to wory.
