I know it's not really possible at this point, but Sean Connery as a Bond villain would automatically be the greatest thing ever.

Awesome as it would have been, it would never have happened. Connery wasnt on great terms with the Bond camp by the time he left.

I enjoyed Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, so bring on Bond 23.

It's so weird how a title grows on you. I still remember when we first found out Bond 22 would be called Quantum of Solace. Good times. :lol

mhmm, plus he's retired from acting I believe, sooooo double fucked. :[

Solo's opinion on Bourne/Bond isn't worth a piece of goat shit.

Quantum of Solace sucked, and was a wannabe. The end. Hope they make a a movie as good as Casino Royale again.

Hes been retired for 6 years now. Its really sad to realize that the final film appearance from such a legend was the awful League of Extraordinary Gentlemen :(

Have a valid reason for why? Other than the fact that it differs from yours, and that Im a bigger Bond fan youre a bigger Bourne fan?

Because clearly your fanboyism for Bond ultimately clouds your better judgment. Your opinion on Quantum of Solace as opposed to your opinion of Ultimatum, just goes to show just how out of touch with reality you are when it comes to this particular subject.

I am sort of sick of the whole Bourne comparison though, and i hope whoever comes to direct next doesn't act like someone suffering from Bourne envy.

You're going to need to give specific examples if you're going to call me out.

My "fanboyism" for Bond has no bearing on my thinking that CR was more engaging, had better developed characters, was more compentently shot, and had better constructed action scenes than the Bourne movies. The parkour scene at the construction site is one of the best action scenes of the decade, bar none.

Also, dont "fanboys" usually baselessly hate on all opposing franchises? Welp, I guess I should stop loving Identity and Supremacy then, if I am to truly fit the mould.

The parkour scene in Tangiers was a lot more believable than the crap in CR. Also, the shaky cam in last two Bourne movies were meant for realism. Better constructed action scenes? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.............

.......

....

*Takes a deep breath*

...AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Throughout the three movies, we've seen Bourne use a pen against a knife, a rolled up magazine against a knife, and a book to beat the crap out someone. CR nor QoS can compete. Not even in the same league. The car chase sequences were A LOT more intense in Supremacy and Ultimatum. Made QoS look like Mario Kart shit.

Seriously. You made my day. :lol

CR was also better reviewed than all 3 Bourne movies, clearly all critics are Bond fanboys.

So reviews=!good movie? Drag me to Hell tops 93% and that was one of the worst movies of the year. :lol

EDIT-Alright. I'm done arguing.

I thought it was too over-the-top, though not as bad as the airport scene.

Keep fighting the good fight Jason's Ultimatum.

Again, I can only assume you're laughing because you know its true. Otherwise, you would have actually tried to make a case for why you feel the action scenes in Bourne are superior. Why are CR's scenes better? Two simple reasons: First, Campbell knows how to shoot action. His camera is almost always perfectly placed and allows you to fully absorb what is going on. He also uses a lot more steadicam, which gives further shine and clarity to the scenes. Second, Campbell and his editor know how to piece together these scenes. The editing is brisk enough to keep things intense, but shots linger long enough to allow the viewer to get their bearings. Bourne is pretty much the opposite on both fronts. The handheld or "shakey" documentary style Greengrass uses is disorientating in an of itself, but even worse, its compounded with absolutely spastic, ADD editing. I dont think there is a single shot held longer than about 3 seconds in any of his Bourne movies. If "realism" to you is rapid fire editing and dizzying camera work, then all the more power to you.

So yeah, in terms of how the scenes are shot and cut, CR is superior. If you want to get into the logistics of the fighting styles thenmselves or whatever, well, you can go on about that as long as you like. Bond is a former navy man, not a martial arts master.

It seems to me that you are inexlicably equating "badass moves" like pen kills with good action scene composition. I dont care if Bourne killed a man just by looking it him, it would still be lost in Greengrass' style.

DMTH is awesome. Best summer flick so far not named The Hangover.

There will be no bashing of Drag Me to Hell, the best movie of the summer so far, in my thread

This sounds gimmicky as hell. How does that equate to badass at all?

Olga Kurylenko's body was criminally underutilized in the movie.

Agreed. I liked QoS though. Not as good as Casino Royale, but still better than 75% of the Bond movies.

Also, Morgan Freeman has said he wants to play a Bond villain before he dies, can someone make this happen?

After watching QoS recently I have to say that she actually wasn't bad. The funny thing is she did a decent job at at least being taken seriously in the film (Unlike say a Christmas Jones, Halle Barry...etc) but then was terribly underused in terms of sex appeal or action.

Fuck no to Morgan Freeman. No more physical midgets who compensate by their complete inferiority to Bond by using buckets of money to send hordes of goons at him. Lets get a villain who can actually take Bond on 1 on 1 with an opportunity to actually win that fight.

Liam Neeson is a great choice. He is pretty much great in every role i have seen him in.

A slightly old bad guy who still kicks ass is always awesome. I really hope the next villian is strong enough to be a challenge to Bond. One of the low points of QoS was Green screaming like a girl.

The car chase in Supremacy is one of the worst filmed setpieces I've ever seen in a movie. Whoever edited that sequence should be fired because you cannot tell what the fuck is going on.

The shakey cam is a little better in Ultimatum, though still annoying and used even more frequently, but the filming and editing of action scenes in Supremacy is godawful.

The difference between Le Chiffre and Greene was that Le Chiffre actually had various points where he put a ton of pressure on James. The mission would have been over immediately in CR if he lost the poker match, and of course we all remember the torture scene. Beyond those large things, he also forces James to realize the reality of his actions when he kills in front of Vesper and even contemplates retirement.

Greene did pretty much nothing other than to piss him off. He sent goons after him that got picked off and ended up stabbing himself and the foot and dying after drinking a can of fucking oil.
