In the article it makes an interesting observation. Who are these “Jokes” for? I can get the joke excuse if it was a couple and then it was dropped. But it wasn’t. He deleted 10k tweets. For one I can’t believe someone has the time to post 10k times, then make a shit ton of pedo comments. They are barely jokes, more edgy drive by comments.
I also have to raise an eyebrow at the people not atleast considering the possibility. I was raised around many issues on the subject, anyone can be the monster hiding right in the open.
“But it was just a couple jokes!”
Meanwhile...James Gunn deleted 10k tweets and has been in pedo themed parties and has had connections with other convicted pedos.
Gun deleted 10k tweets; from what I can tell, only about 20 of them were pedo related jokes. If there were more, that graphic with them all clumped together would be much larger. Not to say that makes them okay, but it's weird seeing people pretend like he was obsessed with pedo jokes. The dude tweeted constantly, the fact that he had 10k tweets that were worthy of being deleted should tell you that. His shtick was shock humor and the subjects he covered varied considerably. After all, he worked for
Troma films
As to who the "jokes" were for and why they seem more like "edgy drive by comments", here's an article that breaks down Gunn's jokes (assuming you are actually interested):
https://medium.com/@joninarebekka/t...d-the-pedophile-in-his-childhood-f7ba23855a82
Many of them are retweets of a friend's comment, with words changed to make it sound like they are a pedo. Yes, this is not funny, but it also explains why tweets like "I like it when little boys touch me in my silly place" are meant to be jokes.
The article also touches on what is known about his history with pedophilia, and the fact that he has been one of the more outspoken voices against actual Hollywood predators
The article doesn't absolve him of making the jokes, but if anyone is legitimately considering that Gunn is an actual pedo, hopefully it clears thing up
Of course, it remains understandable if Disney does not want to be associated with him. They are a kids company. People were surprised they were willing to hire Gunn to begin with. Gunn was dumb for presenting himself this way assuming he planned to graduate from shock film in the future
What should we count as being constant here?
How many jokes has he made? How many of those jokes have had pedophilia as their subject? What percentage of his tweets dealt with that subject? Can we really say this was something that he was constantly bringing up?
This exactly. 50 (assuming some were missed) out of 10k is hardly constant. The image going around with most of his pedo jokes contains like 12 tweets spread out over 4 years. You guys can bag on him for making the jokes all you like, but pretending he was obsessed with pederasty or something is a bit doofy
Two of the most prominent cartoons at the time Gunn made these tweets were South Park and Family Guy. South Park has an episode about NAMBLA, an episode where a teacher banging a 5 year old is "Niiiice", an episode where a 4th grader shows off a photograph of himself blowing another 4th grader, and so much more I'm just not remembering off the top of my head. Family Guy has an entire character dedicated to child molestation. If I went through years worth of episodes of these shows, picked out the pedo parts and edited them together to make a hit piece, would the posters in this thread be convinced South Park and Family Guy are pedo propaganda made by criminals who are obsessed with the subject? After all, Seth MacFarlane and Matt & Trey (another Troma films connection) are also part of Hollywood. Do you all think South Park and Family Guy should be on the air?
