That was my first thought when I heard about the tweets, then i read them and saw how many there were. I'm not saying he is a pedo like some are but the sheer volume of tweets and actual wording made me little uncomfortable to just hand wave it away, then this shit.
He just seems to like pedophilia a little too much for me to be like "yeah its no big deal".

A friend of mine threw a To catch a predator party too. Over a 100 people from our college came. Its not an uncommon thing OP.

I love watching the conditioning kick in as people like you instantly jump in and defend pedophiles. You don't even question the possibility. You just somehow know you are right. It is amazing from a science/psychology perspective. Out of curiosity, what do you feel you personally gain by defending a pedophile? Are you just that desperate to see a comic book movie that you feel it is OK that this adult abuses kids? I actually don't know why an adult would jump to the defense of a notoriously corrupt culture (Hollywood in this case) and just blindly agree with the MSM (who fall into the same corrupt category) on an issue like this. You can't really say the guy is a pedophile definitively like that. There's not much to support that declaration past supposition.
However you can't really blame people when they raise eyebrows at the recurring theme of pedophilia in this guy's humor. It's a taboo subject that makes a lot of people uncomfortable, and this guy seems to revel in that theme. When it keeps coming up and coming up, it's going to make some people wonder whether the whole joke thing is a masquerade for the guys actual proclivities.

I am all for comedy with a dark side but I have never found anything he has tweeted regarding pedophilia to be an actual joke. It is either wink wink pedo or outright saying in the first person that he was going to do some pedo shit as a reaction to some other tweet. Since the industry he works in has a really bad history with pedos it just catches a more critical eye.

However the things you say and do will color people's opinions of you and they will make judgement of your character based off those actions. Not really anything that can be done about that. Our actions and words have consequences in society and no amount of laws will protect you from those.

Hollywood doesn't have a dead baby problem, at least I hope it doesn't. It kind of changes the perception a bit for me. You are right though, jokes about a topic do not make you an advocate or the thing you are joking about.

I remember going to a pimps and hos party once. I've never once in my life thought about getting a prostitute, or being a pimp. None of the people there thought of it. People just literally wanted to dress up and make up excuses to get everyone else to do it. Usually it's the girls pushing for parties like this.
I can't imagine how common it is when you're surrounded by nothing but actors. Like, I picture what Troma film actors would do in their spare time, and this is pretty much exactly the kind of party I'd expect.
Is it a bad look? Sure. Can Disney fire the guy? Sure. I think anyone who knew his career was a little surprised that he was even hired in the first place. I doubt there would even be a conversation about it, and rightly so. A racial joke here and there doesn't bother me, but when someone's entire catalog of jokes winds up being of a racial nature I'd very much start to have my suspicions.

At first I thought this was your opinion, but that part of your text was something the article writer had written which makes this even crazier. I then went on and looked his earlier writings about the subject and there he has found a tweet by Kaufman where he jokes about masturbating to Justin Bieber with fucking TOXIC AVENGER, and he took that tweet LITERALLY. Kaufman mentioned "Toxie" (which means The Toxic Avenger) in his tweet and the writer has written "Kaufman admits masturbating to Bieber with his friend." Kaufman also writing "I wore a lobster Bieber" doesn't ring any bells that this might be just foul mouthed joking?
This is absolutely insane. Kaufman has made his living with telling as crude and disgusting jokes as possible. He has made movies relying on everything insensitive for nearly the past 40 years. And now suddenly a god damn tweet gets him dragged into this scandal both as being part of proof against Gunn and now being accused of being a "child-obsessed deviant."
What comes to the "To Catch a Predator party", if anyone is looking for smoke from that they better also stand firm in throwing the accusations towards the other people in the picture and anyone who took part in that party too. If you are ready to see smoke in this you damn well should apply it to the others as well. So, how about to women in the picture? And the other guy? Should they also get to be accused of pedophilia? Or are only those who have also previously told jokes about the subject the ones who might be actual pedos?
I'm very much aware there are child molesters in Hollywood. There are child molesters in churches. There are child molesters in governments. They are everywhere. Who knows if he's one too. But you can't make assumptions based on jokes and lewd writings. I don't know how much of the Pizzagate stuff and the "Lolita Express" stuff with Epstein and Clinton and all is real. There is tons of smoke everywhere. But still, these are people with history of being just foul mouthed jerks. Their history sure beats that article writer's what comes to credibility. Not knowing Toxie means Toxic Avenger and it's a character of a movie series but still making accusations like that is journalism at worst.
Kaufman should sue that article writer.

Gun deleted 10k tweets; from what I can tell, only about 20 of them were pedo related jokes. If there were more, that graphic with them all clumped together would be much larger. Not to say that makes them okay, but it's weird seeing people pretend like he was obsessed with pedo jokes. Many of them are retweets of a friend's comment, with words changed to make it sound like they are a pedo. Yes, this is not funny, but it also explains why tweets like "I like it when little boys touch me in my silly place" are meant to be jokes.
The article also touches on what is known about his history with pedophilia, and the fact that he has been one of the more outspoken voices against actual Hollywood predators
The article doesn't absolve him of making the jokes, but if anyone is legitimately considering that Gunn is an actual pedo, hopefully it clears thing up

Two of the most prominent cartoons at the time Gunn made these tweets were South Park and Family Guy. South Park has an episode about NAMBLA, an episode where a teacher banging a 5 year old is "Niiiice", an episode where a 4th grader shows off a photograph of himself blowing another 4th grader, and so much more I'm just not remembering off the top of my head. Family Guy has an entire character dedicated to child molestation. If I went through years worth of episodes of these shows, picked out the pedo parts and edited them together to make a hit piece, would the posters in this thread be convinced South Park and Family Guy are pedo propaganda made by criminals who are obsessed with the subject? After all, Seth MacFarlane and Matt & Trey (another Troma films connection) are also part of Hollywood. Do you all think South Park and Family Guy should be on the air?

Doesn't sound like a party I'd like going to (sounds forced and I'm generally not into costumes), but I have friends who probably wouldn't think too badly about something like this and they certainly aren't pedos.
