What's a good film is subjective. He's been consistent with making comic book films that are generally loved by audineces/critics, has producing experience (i.e. knows the backend), knows a lot about how the competition does things and know a lot about the library of source material. The last guy credentials is basically he help produce successful horror movies. The guy before that was a famous comic book writter. The guy who was sort of in charge before that directed a bunch of polarizing DC movies which somehow has a dedicated fanbase still spamming Twitter daily. The MCU head was just a producer on a handful of old Marvel movies. Gunn doens't have to be amazing himself, at writting and directing. That's not actually his job his job is to basically be the top exec/producer and find the people who can do the right job. Just because the movies he likes to do have a certain style doens't mean he'll impose them on others. He has deliberately chosen to focus on weird unpopular character in his directing career, he was offered Superman from the last management but turned it down and asked for Suicide Squad.Yeah the enthusiasm for Gunn is so strange. He’s made one good film (guardians 1). 2 and suicide squad were both mediocre films with no real drama or stakes. Why in the world people think his one not style of film making will work for the entire DCU makes zero sense to me. Going to be another disaster.
I love how these Hollywood pussies have made "harassment" an argument in and on itself. You no longer have to address any concerns or criticism, you pick and chose a few comments from a couple of unhinged morons, claim victimhood and then use that to equate every argument made against you with "harassment". I was a kid when people were telling me to kill myself or other shit like that and even back then I understood they're just words on the internet by butthurt losers. Apparently I was smarter back then than a grown ass man handling a multi-billion dollar franchise.
ManNot this guy again.. What is hit endgame anyway?
A wild attention whore has appeared!
The more of this that comes out the more I love this guy! He isn’t being a Hollywood preMadonna, he’s being a true story teller! This is awesome to know! Henry is a man’s man and they hate him for it, unless he would bed them of course. The last part kinda indicates this, but also the part earlier where he basically started to write the script himself because he wasn't happy about it which they didn't like.
But aren't sex scenes part of Gerald's persona? I thought that was missing from the second season. First season was sexy sultry which kinda added a lot of tension to it in a good way. I def needed more shirtless Cavill in season 2.The more of this that comes out the more I love this guy! He isn’t being a Hollywood preMadonna, he’s being a true story teller! Snyder the god.
Will the synderites finally go away now?

But in this case it isn't your garden variety harassment; it's some neckbeards pulling stuff out of their arses, or even outright lying, then getting outraged about their own rumour or lie.I love how these Hollywood pussies have made "harassment" an argument in and on itself. His films were polarizing but they made money (Snyder). Gunn asks for weird stuff bc that’s what he’s good at. He’s never made a good serious film. And Batman/Superman/WW are serious characters. What's a good film is subjective. Whether or not he succeeds or fails we'll need a crystal ball to know for sure. But I don't see any glarring reason why he would be a bad fit for the role.
They made money from brand/marketing alone. A movie can make a lot of money simply because you need to see it to know you hate it. They Batman and Superman in the name and shoved WW in the marketing. MOS kept high lighting that Nolan was somehow involved. His films were polarizing but they made money (Snyder). Gunn asks for weird stuff bc that’s what he’s good at. He’s never made a good serious film. And Batman/Superman/WW are serious characters.
What do you think is going to happen when a new Superman rolls out and he’s not as good as Caville? Which is practically gauranteed to happen. It will be in every review. You are settin yourself up for failure before you even begin unless he’s absolutely flawless.
You are part of the problem if you really think that.Batman/Superman/WW are serious characters.
This is possibly the saddest thing I've ever seen.
Black Adam has been nuked. To the surprise of absolutely nobody.

And you think that Batman should be making jokes every 15 mins? You are part of the problem if you really think that.

"Serious characters" to me just means that a character takes situations and scenarios seriously. Characters being serious doesn't mean they're not allowed to make jokes. Superman can still be hopeful, optimistic & uplifting. The trinity can still have "fun" together. But ultimately they're going to be taking on threats to life with a serious mindset. Movies with these kinds of characters can be really good and not feel depressing if they're done well.
Look at what's happened to Marvel and their over-use of comedy. They've ruined really good characters like Thor and turned him into dumb joke. The worry is that if Gunn's writing the next Superman movie and he's known for over-the-top comedy, these important DC characters will be "ruined" too. I'm not saying that's definitely going to happen, that Gunn will definitely ruin these characters. His 1st Guardians of the Galaxy film was very good and did have some emotional depth to it, so there's hope that the same depth is carried over into Superman. But IF he does enforce that dumb, jokey tone into all the DC films going forward it's just going to hurt the characters in my opinion.
Yes. He is a character designed for children. Batman should be fun, light-hearted and camp.
James Gunn should be using the Marvel Template for the new DCU, but making it more kid friendly than Marvel. The new direction should be a mix of Adam West Batman and DC Super Friends. And no, I'm not trolling or shit posting. I'm tired of "mature" comic book movies and think they need to go back to their original target audience.
Yeah the enthusiasm for Gunn is so strange. He’s made one good film (guardians 1). 2 and suicide squad were both mediocre films with no real drama or stakes. Why in the world people think his one not style of film making will work for the entire DCU makes zero sense to me. Going to be another disaster.
They are removing his cameo from Flash too, lol.
I guess Cavill didn't go all batshit insane and commit felonies while kidnapping and grooming little girls for them not to cancel the Flash or its actor.
Hollyweird gonna Hollyweird.
The movie is dogshit. Zod kills Cavill as a baby to make room for Supergirl.Yeah I am not gonna pay to watch that movie. Which sucks cuz it will probably be a lot of fun with old Keaton hopefully this Flash dies forever.

The MacGuffin in the movie is a can of tomatoes.
I'd love it as well if it was closer to the animated stuff. Batman 1989 is probably the exact balance I would be looking for. Keep it badass but not cringeworthy.I would be more than happy if Gunn's DCU is in the same tone as the animated stuff.
It won't be for me, but I'll be happy with what Reeves is doing with The Batman.
