I've not seen SR since the theater, really need to revisit it just to see if I enjoy it more. I've always liked Routh and I'm glad he got another bite at the apple.
I'm glad they brought him back as Superman. I wonder if it would make any sense to only watch his episodes if I haven't watched Arrowverse at all?

I'm sure it is watchable, but a steep learning curve on who everyone is. He was on the show for a long time as Adam (? shrinking guy). I didn't watch the Arrowerse through that big event but I do want to go back. Trying to keep up on 5 shows makes it hard :p

I'm surprised and delighted he's using the actual Superman theme. It goes way beyond any other theme in terms of its association with a character. It's the most perfect theme tune ever composed for anything, and it's quite right to bring it back in an updated way. If it goes full on triumphant mode in the trailer it's going to be amazing.

Bryan Singer said it well in regards to using it in Returns, the theme is like Star Wars. You can’t do Superman without it.

Yep. It definitely could do with an update in terms of instrumentation, but it's so fucking good in every other single respect, it's almost a crime not to use it. You can literally hear it saying 'Superman'. I'll always love hearing Donner talk about how blown away he was by that.

The only people that really seem to be put out by its inclusion are the Snyder fans, who are either desperately trying to say they can hear Zimmer in the new music as well, or claiming that Zimmer's theme is better. Even Hans Zimmer doesn't think his theme is better.

Last few Superman movies went on way too long.

Man of Steel's final fight went on forever and got dumber as it went on. I could had brushed my teeth, taken a shit, and hopped in the shower to wash my ass. And the fight would probably still be going.

Got hyped for Superman Return, left disappointed.
Got mega hyped for Man of Steel, left heartbroken.

Could this finally be the one?

heh heh, underwear on the outside "to not frighten the children" :p

All they gotta do, if any justification for the most iconic costume EVER is even necessary, is open the film with a couple of circus strongmen circa 1920s to show where the inspiration for the outfit comes from. If the outfit is just thin fabric over skin and not that hypertextured thick armor stuff Cavill had then just roll with it and no one would care.

They’re now using Grok to fake a Synderverse comeback.

I hope the plot isn't John Wick but with Superman. Poor Krypto.

The Supergirl movie that will come out a year or two after this film is adapting the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic run where Krypto plays a small but relevant role, plus this design of this version of Krypto was inspired by Gunn’s family’s dog. Zero chances of Krypto dying in this film.

I hope we get a moral Superman with a twinkle in his eye, and also a power set that isn't to the "Godlike" level where he can basically manage any cosmic threat solo. Give him the strength of just 10 men, not 10,000, flight but not trans galactic flight, eye lasers that can't cut through 5 feet of hardened steel in an instant, stuff like that. Reigning him in is key to having him work as the main protagonist, I think.
That sounds boring af.

I want kick ass comics accurate Superman.

This might actually end up being a Superman movie.

If only Cavill had had that amount of influence over Snyder.

I dunno man, there are a LOT of side characters in this movie, I don't want to see Superman play second fiddle in his own movie.

Gunn’s vision for the film draws from various influences while maintaining its own identity. “All previous DC media influenced me,” Gunn said. “I think that obviously the original Donner movie influenced me, but there’s also a lot of things that this isn’t, like I’m not just making a Donner type movie. It’s very different from that.” Gunn specifically cited “All-Star Superman” as a major comic book influence, noting its Silver Age feel and science fiction approach.

Gunn also noted that the film explores a unique take on the Clark Kent/Superman dynamic. “People said all sorts of different things. They said, ‘Clark’s the real one.’ They said, ‘Superman’s the real one and Clark’s the secret identity.’ But I don’t believe either of those things,” Gunn said. “I don’t think anybody knows Superman unless they know both of him. And when they know both of him, they know the real guy. And that means not too many people.”
