James Mangold's Indiana Jones 5 Trailer Debuted at D23 Expo (Not Online Yet)

This seems to be confirming the rumor that she's the daughter of

I didn't want to uncover the spoiler for this, but I also didn't know quoting a spoiler displayed the text. Darn.

Anyhow, I did want to ask, Indy's douchebag "son" from the fourth movie played by the same douchebag actor isn't going to be in this one, is he? I could take a brief cameo, but beyond that, I'll likely skip it entirely if he has a major role in the latest movie. Between him, the refrigerator, and the aliens, I have a hard time deciding what I disliked more.

There’s an actor who could be playing Mutt, but it’s not Shia. The scenes the guy shot were with Waller-bridge. Spielberg isn’t directing it (the movie is written and directed by Mangold) but he’s still involved and Shia will never get near a Spielberg movie again. Even Ford called him a fucking idiot.

She’s not Indy’s replacement like OutrageTubers are pretending. Based on the scenes people saw her filming she appears be a reporter/journalist. She’s Indy’s goddaughter and most likely the daughter of Marcus Brody.

Thank you for setting my mind at ease.

I wish there was a way to edit Indy 4 to get rid of all the stupid things in that movie, because seeing Ford with Karen Allen again was awesome. They were great together even after all that time, and they were wasted in that awful movie.

Salah always seemed like a good dude even with his betrayal... René Bellocq and Marcus Brody, each in their way are caricatures of 19th and early 20th century orientalists and they aren't depicted very kindly (rightly)

Oh, I was just poking fun at a different forum. I never had a problem with any of it.. and Salah is a great character, he is after all, the best digger in Cairo!

Is this another “passing of the torch” movie?

No it's the end of Indiana Jones. The final movie.

It's also John Williams' final movie. The Fabelmans is his final recorded film score, but the movie comes out in November. He recorded Indy in the spring and Fabelmans in August.

John Williams is retiring? I checked out his iMDB page and he still does some great stuff.

He's 90. He can barely stand on his own anymore. He said the only thing that could pull him out of retirement is if Spielberg asked him to score one of his movies because he considers Spielberg to be his little brother, but it seems like Spielberg will respect his retirement and Fabelmans will be their final movie together.

Wait, who owns Indiana Jones? it's not Disney, is it? don't tell me it's Disney. Please god, don't tell me it's fucking Disney.

Lol not complaining. I'm just happy he's going out with a bang. Hope he has a good retirement. I was just surprised that all

He'll still do concerts, he's just retiring from film scores.
It boggles me how one can be too tired to compose in the studio or at home but not too tired to play live ??..
Maybe the deadlines he had to work with in Hollywood were too stressfull ? But then who isn't doing his producer job well enough so that motherlovin John Williams can work stress free ?

Better not be the end of Indy. The character can exist outside of Harrison. There is an audience for the 20s-30s adventure stuff if you just ignore the social media teats that skreech like Banshees at the very notion of a white guy tomb raid....errrr, practicing archeology with great passion :p

Concerts are only a couple of hours and he only does a few a year. He does the Hollywood Bowl every September and for at least the last five years or so he'll start off the concert and then a guest conductor will take over for a few pieces, and then WIlliams will return for the finale.

Thank you for those precisions.
I get that arrangements can be made for him to be at a concert, i mean the geriatric stones are still touring and they must be in a much rougher shape than him even with the few years less they have. What i don't get is why arrangements aren't made for him to continue scoring movies...

Eh, none of these guys owns the IP so their opinion really has no weight. They can't make this decision.

If Indy5 bombs it will probably be because the movie did not deliver on what made the first 3 so special. They should really sit down and think hard on that.

If it does well, then hey, there is an appetite for Indy. They should probably sit down and think hard on that.

If, for some reason, Indy5 is a classic Indy film but STILL bombs, well, guess we can hang up the whip then.

But this notion that Indy lives and dies with Harrison just makes no sense to me. Yet a good adventure film with humor, a little horror, good practical stunt set pieces, and a big dose of wonder seems to be EXTREMELY elusive in modern Hollywood, so maybe it is for the best that Indy rides off into the sunset rather than succumb to transient modern sensibilities.

Movies require days upon days in a recording studio. It’s grueling work. For a concert he can put together the pieces at home and then just conduct for a couple hours over a couple of weekends a year. It’s much easier and he seems to enjoy it.

Frank Marshall has been the producer of Indy since Raiders. What he says absolutely has weight.

Dude, Frank is 76. He should be golfing in Florida, not driving business decisions for a major studio. Do you really think he could STOP Disney from making another one? Will he block it in his will?

He and his wife (Kathleen Kennedy) control Indiana Jones through Lucasfilm. Just because Disney can distribute Indy 5 (Paramount still owns the first four movies), they can't strong arm those two into doing more if they don't want to. Disney owns Avatar, but they won't dare even look at James Cameron without James Cameron giving them permission.

Hell I don't even think Disney wants more Indy's past 5 without Harrison because they can't exploit the original movies on Disney+ due to not owning them. They own ALL of Star Wars, so there's a big difference there.

Heh heh, with Cameron it's getting him to do something BESIDES Avatar :p

If Indy5 does half a billion domestic you will ABSOLUTELY see more. I think they are just playing a marketing game to drum up interest in "Indy's last ride" plus a little pre-emptive damage control in case it doesn't perform well. Why are you taking producers words about the possibility of upcoming projects so literally? Given the average time between Indy films it could be a decade before another one gets greenlit and all of these folks could be dead.

Personally I'd like an animated series. Lower risk and the swashbuckling would go over well there.

Also, Spielberg and Lucas still have some control over Indy (Lucas worked on Indy 5 with Mangold), it's a different situation than Star Wars. There's not going to be more.

Wasn't The Last Crusade intended to be the end of the franchise too? At least according to Spielberg.

I don't believe for a second this will be the end of the adventure. There'll be a sequel/prequel/reboot at some point. Maybe even a shitty series as well.

I could see them trying their luck with another ‘young Indiana Jones’ series. But movies? I doubt it.

I actually think there will be more Indy films, just not with Ford obviously. I think they will wait 5-10 years, then kickstart the series again with a new actor.

I did not know Frank and Kathleen are married. Mind blown….

Well that made me smile at the end. Hopefully he gets a good send off. Will venture into the Odeon for once for this.

Looks good, or from what I could make out anyway. Absolutely looks better than Crystal Skull.
Again: Cop Land, 3:10 to Yuma, The Wolverine, Logan, Ford v Ferrari. If Spielberg wouldn't direct it due to it having Nazis in it, there's no one better to write and direct it than Mangold with Lucas helping on the story.

All the above films are fantastic. I have faith that this film will be a great send off to the character and treat the series with respect.

A scene of this movie was shot in the holiday location I used to go when I was young. Can't wait.

All the leaks suggest it won't be.
You mean the leaks made up by a YouTuber who's side-job is a Bitchute Neo-Nazi hate channel? Of course the guy isn't going to make up anything nice about a movie where Indiana Jones punches his heroes on the big screen.

Wait is that why Spielberg wouldnt direct it, Nazis?. How does that make any sense when he's done numerous films with Nazi's in them.

Someone filmed (from a poor angle) and leaked the trailer. Looks good

Not to begrudge someone a job but in what world is a sign language interpreter standing in front of the screen in a spotlight less obtrusive than closed captions? Looks like it was on 2 screens no less, so one could have had captions and the other not for the what, 5 people in the audience that needed them?

Trailer looks 'alright'. A bit too much cgi work for me, and Ford mumbling through his lines as usual. I just hope its not Ford's face digitized over stunt men and stuff for the action scenes. If he cant do it anymore because of age, they shouldnt of made the film imo.
Also i hope the de-aged Indy scenes are just short flashbacks, and dont take up much of the film. Again if he's too old to play the character, dont make it.
