Johnny Ace is killing it recently. I think whoever said WWE discovered trolling is correct, because Laurenitis is trolling, Jericho is trolling, hide yo wife, hide yo kids, they trolling everybody out here.

Well there are different extremes to pro wrestling, made more obvious when then entire rest of the roster isn't even reacting to the supernatural crap going on. There's a divide in the angles naturally because the Kane stuff if being treated completely separate from the rest of the program. It isn't like they're establishing a program where this supernatural stuff can happen in every match so I'm instantly taken out of the experience when it starts happening.

It's like watching a semi-realistic, albeit a bit extreme, action movie, then 90 minutes in a DEMON POPS UP AND STARTS SHOOTING FIRE KABLOWIE PEW PEW AND DRAGGING PEOPLE TO HELL OMG.... and I'm just like WTF that wasn't in tone with the rest of this movie at all. I can accept the actors acting like they were fighting because that's the universe that was set up for me. The supernatural stuff pushes my suspension of disbelief too far.
I understand what you're saying, but what I'm saying is that this "movie" never presented a tone that serious to me. The vast majority of matches has weird gimmicks, or some giant fighting a midget, or some somoan, or some guy obsessed with spiking your hair, or some straight edge extremist (heel Punk) who think he's starting some cult, or some narcissist who thinks his face is disfigured.

To me, the perfect analogy is Mortal Kombat. You've got actors, cops, undercover agents, martial artists. Plenty of "real" guys, then you've got demons and monsters. They all fit together. Now, I would understand if the tone was something like Godfather, but that's not it. From the very beginning, it's presented as a "wacky" show. It may get stranger, but it's never been all that serious (with the exception of 1997).

You're talking about Kane wrecking the seriousness of the show when it's WWE canon that Sheamus and Beaker the muppet are cousins?

Maybe lighten up a little.

I can't believe we're discussing the supernatural in 2012.

The reaction started out huge but died due to Jericho's purposeful over-mugging. So it looks like it went according to plan.
Even rewatching it, he didn't get as huge a reaction as I thought he would. Either people didn't know who he was or the crowd just sucked.

I'm probably just being trolled by Y2J, it's all good.

Yeah! The crowd really sucked. Guess they forgot who Jericho was. :(
Exactly.

The crowd doesn't know any old wrassler because it's comprised of:

  • lil jimmies
  • women who cheer for cena and randy
  • their boyfriends/husbands

The more I think about that Punk/Ziggler match the less it makes sense to me.

Shouldn't Ziggler have been pissed he basically got screwed out of a potential Championship?

Parading around with the belt like that was just weird.

It's not about being serious, just about being consistent. The comedic and gimmicky stuff is still consistent with the rest of the product because there's no magic or whatever the hell Kane's doing, there's no threat or implication of death, there's no pushing the boundaries of the "rules" you've set up. I can deal with Santino being a goofball, or a "Sledgehammer Ladder Match" because, despite the quality, they still fall within the lines of "WWE." To have Kane pulling Zack Ryder "into the abyss" be a legitimate "part of the show," stuff like that has to be established. It shouldn't be forgotten in 2 weeks, and disregarded completely by the rest of the roster.

I enjoy the athleticism, the acting, the choreography, the audience participation, the drama of the contests. I can also enjoy goofier stuff when done right. I don't (and never have) enjoy the supernatural or superhuman gimmicks. It's too much of a stretch. Also, Hogan sucks.

Santeria, Voodoo, that stuff is different.

Nope, sorry. Not having this discussion. Not in 2012. No.

Not gonna do it. Not gon' do it. Not gonna quote Dana Carvey in 2012.
Maybe if it was 2011, but 2012? Now damn way. I mean, we're talking about 2012. I mean, now? Jericho, supernatural, AND Kane? All in one year? No way am I going to talk about that!

You don't have to enjoy it, but as far as I'm concerned, it's just a much a part of the show as anything else. I loved it as a kid, and that's what this show has been aimed at for 30 years now. It's always been aimed at children, and I shouldn't expect them to change just because I'm older.

Besides, if a sledgehammer ladder match is part of the rules, and that isn't an implication of death? Then Kane and Taker can shoot all the lightning bolts they want, as far as I'm concerned.

Lol, for some reason, you remind me of Johnny Cage in the first Mortal Kombat movie. Just in total disbelief of the world he's stepped into. Now, should they try to incorporate their history better, and not forget things two weeks later? Yeah, but people forgetting about Kane and Taker's powers is just as ridiculous to me as Orton trying to kill Cena with stage pyro, and them becoming friends just a few months later.

don't you think we need more abortion storylines.

We sitting here, in 2012, I'm 'spose to be the king of this thread, and we're talking about Kane.

I mean, listen, we're talking about Kane.

Not a match, not a match, not a match. We talking about Kane.

Not the show, not the show that we've just watch, the show we die to see every week. Not the show, we talking about Kane, man.

I mean how silly is that? We talking about Kane.

I know he just came back. I know he's wearing a mask again. I know that. And I'm not shoving it aside like it don't mean anything. I know it's important. I do, I honestly do.

But we're talking about Kane, man. What are we talking about? Kane?

We're talking about Kane, man.

Heh. We're talking about Kane. We're talking about Kane. We ain't talking about the show, we're talking about Kane, man.

When you come into this thread, and you read my posts, you read my posts don't you? You see me give everything I got, right?

But we're talking about Kane right now.

How the hell can I make this thread better by talking about Kane?!

IT'S DA UNDATAKER!

It's pretty crazy to see how long Taker has been around with the same base gimmick for the majority of that timespan.
