Could try a Samoan stable with Joe and the Usos. Bring in Rikishi as a ringleader/mentor type. Of course it's hard to imagine creative getting behind something like that.

That actually sounds like exactly the type of thing Creative™ would do.

And they'd all be jobbing in a month.

Poor Joe.

I remember when I used to watch ROH regularly (when it aired on the now defunct 'The Wrestling Channel' on Sky) and he was damn awesome. The matches he had against Austin Aries, his trilogy against Punk, and his stuff against Nigel McGuinness and Jay Lethal were all amazing. It really felt like you were watching special every time he wrestled. Then he moved to TNA and even though he looked more awesome, the matches were less spectacular. He looked like a damn monster though for a while

Now, nothing. He is just over 30.. he should be in his prime right now.

At least he will always have Samoa Joe vs. Essa Rios to tell his grandkids about

Whatever happened to Essa Rios? He introduced us to Lita after all..

Joe has been in the shithouse ever since Bishoff and Hogan came into TNA. Before that, he was getting regular pushes and feuds, now he might as well be a jobber.

Joe decline was already starting before Hogan came to TNA. Someone posted the ninja video and there was also the nation of violence gimmick. Where he had a face tattoo and machete.

Didn't stop Yoko. Didn't stop Big Show. Didn't stop countless other wrestlers that had weight issues. The problem with Joe is his look. It's nothing special.

Yoko was super large and that's how it played into his role, I mean Yokozuna's are supposed to be huge.

Big Show is just a tall dude so it's somewhat masked, though in his WCW days he was a lot more intimidating.

Joe is just an average-heighted fat dude.

Yep, aside from that first few months with Angle (and Daniels/Styles), they really haven't done shit with Joe.

Also,

Right. Ya my point was that Yoko played his role of a Yokozuna and did it VERY well. Big Show played his role of a big dude. He did get a bit heavy (remember him being sent down to OVW). Both had unique looks. Henry is a fat dude but he's just massive. He looks like and IS the World's Strongest Man.

Joe is just an average-height fat dude like you said. He's booked like crap because TNA and WWE bookers are looking for that certain look. He doesn't have it. Simple as that. Joe is a much better wrestler than Bully Ray. Bully Ray however took on his weight issue. Joe needs to do the same. His best chance at WWE is to get leaner .. or get super fat and be the next Yoko.

with all this talk of WWE interest in TNA guys I wounder if we will see any surprise appearances from some ex TNA guys in the rumble like last year when Nash and Booker showed up.

and its a shame about WWE having no interest in Joe... but the guy is getting older and isnt in the best shape ever. I can see why they dont want to sign him even if Bryan and Punk could have Match of the year level matches with the guy.

guys Joe peaked 7 years ago against kobashi. The dream is over, he squandered his talent with bad decisions, not taking care of his body, and losing interest in putting on 5 star matches.

I was wondering that, who would the potential candidates be?

Thinking about it, by going back down to 30 people in the Rumble and an already bloated roster I don't think there's any room for surprises.

-- Best of luck Chris Jericho in your future endeavors

-- Not shocking

-- RIP CM Punk's Title Reign

Damn, now I wish RVD was out of his TNA contract even sooner.

I sort of wonder if Joe will ever be credible again or just be a shell until slipping back into indies? Back when he was on his initial TNA winning streak that brought me and a few others I know into watching the product.

Less Punk and Jericho, more Cena is the message here.

I went back today and was reading up one some of the wrestlers that have died over the past 5 years or so.

Just insane how many great talents are now gone forever.

A "lean" Samoa Joe is still an average height fat dude, just not as fat as he is now. The draw was that he was a big guy wrestling like a smaller guy, having great 20+ minute matches night in night out, and being booked well until he had such an aura about him which led to getting noticed by TNA/WWE.

He really doesn't have to drop THAT much weight, the problem is the booking and Joe's lack of fire because he's caught on to the booking.

It's all in the booking. I agree that it couldn't hurt for him to lose a few pounds though.

Laurenaitis should snatch you up quick. As Vice President of Talent Relations and Interim Raw General Manager, it is his responsibility to make sure he has the best scouts on staff to make sure they get the best talent in to the company to perform for their fans, The WWE Univers
oul Circus
.

Does Meltzer ever say what the "usual" is after he says something is higher or lower than it to try to stir up controversy?

Most of the time it's people posting pictures of themselves with celebrities but in this case I suspect it's Diesel posting a picture of himself as a celebrity.
