8otto is pretty awesome. Reminds me of old school Ogre You Asshole. Interesting how all these up and coming indie bands all sound like they grew listening to Television and Gang of Four lol

Yeah, I am listening to Ashes to Ashes (too bad its short) and its absolutely great. Funky and psychedelic is a rare in Japan at the moment, and they do a greta job of filling that gap.

To be honest with you, they don't sound anything like GoF or Television.

Also, I don't like the new Ogre you Asshole.
 
 
I really can not get into Lite. I really like Math rock with its wierd timing and complex signature, but I can't get into Lite. Siberian Newspaper are awesome though, I have Historia Siberiana and its simply pretty. I have some fondness to any music that features violin.

Their first album came out this year, I was pretty hyped for it and thought it was quite solid.

Don't like the vocalist. Sound more Emo than his brother. Taka's vocals have perfect balance between Emo, Alt, Screamo and punk which I love. (Have to add my reccomendation for Nicheシンドローム which is fantastic)

BIGMAMA is releasing their second Album of the year. The one that came out this January which is called ''Kimi ga Mata Blouse no Button wo Tomeru made'' is in my top 10 albums this year so far and this new one looks like its goingh to be as good. Thier sound is a bit different though. This new album sounds a bit more Jazzy/bluesey which adds to thier experimentaion on theeir whole Emo/Alt feel.

BIGMAMA is currently one of my favorite bands.
Their latest PV makes me so... I don't know. Happy, it puts a big smile on my face.
Loved their latest album. I think their new release is just a single though, a live DVD also came out.

I always wondered what's the drummer's origin, he doesn't really look japanese to me.

Yeah, you are right. I was really shocked when I thought they would release another one this fast. Then I rememberd that Last Alliance released 36 songs in 10 months

His name is written in Katakana so he can't be Japanese. Sounds Indunusian or Malay. Ib something his name is.

I love Ent too. (Maybe cause it´s the side project of Straightener's vocalist haha)

The Straightners vocalist have a peculier voice which I can not get into, therefore, I haven't listened to them.

CreepHyp which have released a great Album this year is gonna release with their 2nd full Album ''Shinu Made Issho Aisareteru to Omottetayo'' is gonna release a meaty single (This week actually!) which is called ''Oyasami Nakigoe, Sayonara Utahime''. Personally, I don't like singles, since I think they are overpriced releases which promotes the Album, but this one looks mneaty with 4 new tracks. Great Vocals and a great sounding alt/indie music makes this band a really enjoyable.

The new single (from what I heard from their new PV) sounds a lot like Homely with the emphisis on Jazzy atmosphere with a feel of post-rock. I think they will continue playing in the same vain as that Album since the Bassist left the band because of the change in direction. I wonder did he end up to?

Thanks for sharing this！I really like most of her music. I looked at the description on that video and she's only 17! I doubled checked on wiki and it's true. I'm definitely gonna keep an eye on her. She is doing fairly well on the charts.

Can you recommend some songs by Yui? If she sounds like Leo, I definitely want to listen to her.

Jumper, More More More, and Jelly are among their best songs.

Groups similar to them would be everything else Yasutaka Nakata produces namely Meg, Kyary and Perfume. Also COPTER4016882 and Coltemonikha probably a lot more similar to Capsule than the aforementioned.

What do you guys think of the thematic and stylistic change between the first PLASTICZOOMS album ''CHARM'' and their second one ''Starbow''?

My personal take is that, although I don’t mind the abrupt change, I just don't think the quality is there in the 2nd album. The tracks feel that they have weird change in tempo with in them and their arrangements aren't as well thought as their first one. Charm remains one of my favourite albums last decade just how subtle the synth was on top of their gothic music.

How would you compare it to Homely? I didn't like it, and I doubt I will like this if it has any similiarity to Homely.

It's not really different from Homely, so I don't know if you'll like it.

Feels good to see them making their major debut.

Right, So no more Ogre you Asshole for me. Yeah, regarding Cinema Staff, those tracks are not doing anything for me. I simply can't get into the vocals, I'll try to listen one of their albums one of these days so I could get used to them, but those PVs aren't doing anything for me.

Anyway, If anyone of you lives in London, there will be two gigs featuring 3 Japanese Indie bands tomorro and after tomorrow. The first is Bo Ningen. Imagine 60s Rock 'n Roll with added Psychedalia and Noise with a zist of Drone mixed in and you got Bo ingen. They do look like Hippies and their music reflects how different they are. I went to their gig last Year when they came down to London and they are amazing. Hard hitting drums, oscillating guitars, Sabbath-esque riffing and quite dance-able noise music alla around. They will be playing at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen in Old Street and the tickets are around 8 quids.

The other two will be supporting eachother. The first one is Manflu. The band is not Japanese but a mulitnational one where the vocalist is Japanese. Their music harkens back to the late 80's Post-pink/No-wave where funk and atmoshpere was above all with some noise added to the mix. They are not a big band at all and only released an EP which is selftitled, but anyhting that plays an experental Post-punk is OK in my book

The third band is called Deathride and is formed of Ex-Electric Shock dou Jennie and Kaotue. Again, only one of them is Japanese. Their music is cross of Garage and Noise with some electronica introduced.
