Jay Electronica ft. Jay Z - We Made It (Jay Z returns shots at Drake)

Jay can rap about whatever he wants basically, but...

How are you gonna hire the guy to rap on two of your albums and then diss his content? Makes Drake look like a fuck boy.

I don't see it as a diss. He never said Jay was wack. He said as a fan he doesn't care for the art shit, and expects more than "coke rap" from him. It's not like he called him one dimensional - that would go beyond "criticism" and into diss territory.

He basically called Jay Z's latest music corny.

I'd say that's a bit of a diss.

But the entire thing is kind of cringe worthy.

Drake : "Lately this direction you've gone is corny."

Jay-Z: "Drake yer a girl!! NEENER NEENER!"

I agree with whoever said this is embarrassing for Jay-Z. But I think pretty negatively of all diss tracks and the gossip that surrounds them.

He said Jay's content was corny and that Kanye drops wack bars. He previously said that their throne was for the taking on record. I guess this explains a lot, because you didn't think Control critiquing other people's content was diss-y in nature either.

I guess I'm from the oldschool when a diss was a diss. Maybe I don't remember the quotes correctly but the only noteworthy thing was the Kanye stuff, which was pretty blatant: he legit said the album was full of bad bars. But all he said about Jay was that he thought Jay's art lyrics were kind of corny. How is that a diss, especially when compared to the Yeezus comment?

In the old school when you came @ people's content it was a diss then too, just like Nas did to nelly and cam or whoever and all those dudes on the radio. I don't think it's a diss, but at the same time I enjoy Jay firing back, because I don't like Drake. Plus like i said, it's weak to hire someone for your album(s), suck up to his ass and then and then say that his shit is corny.

This wasn't a hard jab at Drake. You guys get WAY to caught up in these bars. Hardly any of that is hardcore. Jay had no choice but to make a comment sooner or later and he did and it wasn't much.

It's not much, but Kendrick had Drake stuck in his feelings for a month with even less.

50 probably 'backed off' because that was barely a diss. Not even worth responding to.

What? 50 responds to everything, he tries to get into a beef all the time, provokes everyone with no reason, he is the most troublesome rapper ever. He backed off because he knew what Jay was capable of, he is troublesome but an inteligent one. He didn't want to escalate anything and just did his thing.

Jay really doesn't want a response from Drake, Jay isn't built for that

Let's not pretend Drake said anything comparable to this. Nas straight up said Cam's album was wack, and his lyrics were wack, and told Nore to step his pen game up. What did Drake say that was even in that ballpark lol.

Jay sonned him, that's it. I wouldn't be surprised if he DM'd him before the song came out, just to tell him man to man.

lol not even. Jay did it onstage live at Hot 97 Summer Jam, with 50 in the audience. Jay didn't NEED to do anymore. Jay was at the top and 50 was nothing more than a local mixtape rapper at the time. 50 knew if he went at Jay any harder and Jay put out a full 16, 50 knew his career would have been over.

Remember when 50 said Jay retired because he realized he couldn't compete with him lol

Remember when 50 talked about when cats sign to minor labels it means their career is done? So much irony in that statement too. Good ol 50. Then again I knew 50 was going to fade from relevance quickly when his second CD came out and it followed the exact same blueprint as the first one. Everyone said I was crazy though.

That's exactly how I take it. It's being critical about a peer's album and I basically agree with everything he said. I don't consider the Control album to be a diss to any particular rapper either and in any case, Drake came back with a very solid album. At least Kanye is pushing the envelope with interesting sounds and collaborations. The only thing Jay-Z is pushing is age.

Man if Kendrick made an entire album based on he concept of Control. Drake would be on suicide watch.

Big Sean would be somewhere reminding people he was on the album at some point.

OH GOD

Might as well spice things up. Is illseed still reputable? I remember dude having the scoop on a ton of things in the past, though admittedly a lot of it was fluff too.

WILL DRAKE RESPOND!?

The answer? No.

I am hearing that Drake has no ambitions to be embroiled in a beef with the man that almost ended Nas. In fact, I heard its even lighter fare than that. Drake wasn’t all that impressed. The internet is going nuts over it and Jay has single-handedly helped get Jay-E back into the game. That first single he dropped had a pretty big echo.

I expect at least a hot single or two from 50's new LP
The stuff he put up on iTunes is not doing shit. Its probably below 100. Curly woodface's new album is going to flop hard as shit unless he pulls some kind of major attention whore move out of his ass. And that's a 'miracle' situation.

I can already tell you that's not reputable because Jay did not almost end Nas.

edit: damn nevermind, those are his singles. RIP 50

That sounds like some fanboy shit, not buying it. I agree with the general sentiment that Drake won't respond, that's just his nature. And I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't impressed by the lines, although he has to be at least surprised at the "Mrs. Drizzy" thing. Still, if I was Drake I'd let it go. Same reason LeBron doesn't enter the dunk contest: you don't want to soil your brand with an L. And an L is what Drake would get if he went all out at Jay, let's be real.

Eventually Drake is going to have to go at somebody directly IMO. He's probably waiting for Kendrick's next album to barely go gold.

Jay Z Is a top tier snob. Attempts to buy culture, objectifies said art in his music, doesn't know the first thing about Picasso other than what his advisor Kim heirston translated for him in status currency.

Drake should say that.

Drake should say that.

He already did though, and tbh, that's all he has in his arsenal. Jay would blow him out of the water if this ever took off.

Kinda sad it won't, because I still feel it'd be a huge opportunity to see Jay flex what he had back in the day, and it'd be fun to see Drake try.

Damn

That means common, Kendrick, and Jay has dissed Drake......How is this guy drake still relevant in hip hop circles when your basically a target practice for other rappers?
Because he pulled everyone else' card with the bullets that fire backwards line.

For being the beef-aversive punching bag in hip-hop he is, that was kind of a moment where he sonned all the sneak dissing, and was one of those moments where someone solidifies their importance in the game. Oh and he's got pretty much the entire female demographic riding with him.

Side note: I'm kind of surprised the Jay Z/Drake thing didn't turn into this massive social media thing, considering those involved. The Control thing resonated several orders of magnitude farther. I guess that just sort of speaks to how lame it is.

.....

Control was a Takeover/Hit Em Up style verse over an exciting new rapper coming at a lot of different heads. That was an entire otherworldly verse (deal with it, nobody beside you and a couple other people think anyone but Kendrick had the best one) aimed at the entire rap game. Jay spitting a half bar at someone isn't that crazy. He's done it before, plus he didn't really take him apart, unless you reach like a motherfucker and look at the entire verse as a condemnation of drake (corny fakes and handshakes, spawn of Yacub) etc etc. And it's not.

It still feels like a flood gate is weakening with every jab. Also stating fan demographics is not a defense in my opinion. Canibus should of ethered LL career with lines like "99% of your fans wear high heels" but LL history and star power meant he was untouchable. Drake doesn't have that, and while for a long time it was cool to just ignore and subliminal reply.

You got Jay-Z calling you Mrs. Drizzy....the guy is "the" rap trendsetter and he basically said your a target. Trust me somebody else is going to take aim at drake soon.

I've been riding for Control being a gamechanger from the jump. This age of social media isn't used to Jay speaking ill of anyone period, telling someone to check themselves or a diss. Because it's motherfucking Jay too, I expected more acknowledgement at the least.

Demographics matter. Ain't none of those rappers connect with females like Drake does. So long as he keeps making simping anthems and break up songs you can't tell me dudes insulting his street cred is going to hurt that. He's played the fake hard guy/emotional guy role for very long with people already abuzz about how fake/soft he is. The ammo has already been fired in many permutations. I can't think of anything damaging that hasn't already been said. And who else is left to say it that is influential, besides Kanye who is BFFs with Drake again?

O lol. Idk. I also attribute it in part to the whole thing happening on a sunday morning too. Weird ass time to drop a track.

I never liked Drake's music, and it's kinda a stretch calling him a rapper. He's a singer. Although there have been rappers who have rapped while singing, such as, Slim Kid Tre from The Pharcyde, however, he was way better at it than Drake because he would go back and forth to rapping and singing interchangeably, and his rhymes were creative, clever poetry.
