Have you actually called the police yet? Because if everybody out there is doing it, then I think you might be being duped.

Are you guys having issues? Has she wanted to move to Tennessee and you haven't been able to?

The reason I say this, is more often than not, stories like this cone up and it turns out to be a story made up because the person wanted to get away for awhile to figure things out. Is it possible that her friend is making this up since you haven't actually called the police to find out yourself? You said its hard to get ahold of her to get more info and that to ne is a big red flag.

If its real, then Google all the tow companies in the area and find out who has the car. At least that way you know for sure. Call Nashville police and ask them what jurisdictions are within 30 miles out and then find out who did the accident report.

This isn't meant to be critical of you, but from everything you've posted so far, this sounds like a lie by your girlfriend to give her time to figure out what she wants. And I'm speaking from experience in working these types of calls. I've taken upwards of over 100 missing person calls and everyone left willingly just not wanting to tell the other where they were.

My friend's fiancee was murdered and they hadn't had contact in the time before she was set to leave.

We were all going to A-kon 99 and she was to meet us there coming from Houston, she didn't show up, her siblings went and found her body inside, she had been murdered as she was getting prepared to leave. Her car was found later.

She was the schoolteacher in Houston

So no, I wouldn't say she was trying to get away, this could very well be a possiblity as well. I hope they find them.

I'm not saying that this isn't a possibility, but statistically its much more likely that this is a made up story to keep him away than the worst case scenario.

And I'm sorry for yoyr friends loss.

Mothafucken reading, how does it work?

He is saying the friend could be making the entire thing up.

If you would have read my other post, I'm suggesting the op is being lied to. He hasn't himself called the police, he's been getting all of his info from her friend, and she hardly ever answers her phone to give him more info on updates.

His post says he hasn't spoken with the police and he's only been getting limited information from her friend and she is hard to get ahold of.

Fucked up way to break up with somebody, but it happens a lot.

I find that kind of... disgusting. How can people do that when you consider the stress and worry it would put people through?

I don't think your suggestion is likely at all, but the OP should definitely put himself firmly in the loop and not take second hand accounts for face value.

@ OP

How long have you been with your girlfriend? Did she pack up all of her belongings before leaving, or just what she needed for the duration of her visit?

The whole thing being made up is certainly a possibility. Though it wasn't a very well thought-out plan on their parts, if so.

I'll admit, this is the first thing that came to my mind. It does seem a bit absurd though.

Either way OP, I hope everything works out ok. Keep us updated.

Unfortunately, the possibility exists that the entire scenario was faked.

Any person that could put someone else through such unnecessary worry and stress is a monster.

This kind of thing happens a lot more than you'd think. A lot of times they run away from an abusive relationship or they are just too scared to break up with someone face to face. It happens, trust me. Like I said before I've taken over 100 missing persons reports and they have all been just someone wanting to get away for awhile and clear their head.

I have to say that I was thinking the same thing. It's why I asked the questions that I did. Abandoned cars may be common in inner cities, but for one to be abandoned off of a highway and not be noticed by the police or a state trooper before it is found by this friend? Police don't just ignore abandoned cars.

At the same time making something like this up just to get a few days away to think could only be dreamed up by the dumbest of people. You would have to be in the Gump IQ range not to realize that making up a story like this would cause all kinds of trouble and reports to the police.

OP needs to get in contact with this friend again pronto, then ask for contact info for his gf's family. If he can't do that he is free to file a missing persons report on his own. You dont have to be related to somebody to file a missing persons report.

He just found all of this at at 2:30 this morning EST. It hasn't even been 12 hours and he's dealing with people that he does not know that well so he is probably not the biggest concern to them. If my kid was missing or even a best friend, I would not be concerning myself with the boyfriend as cruel as that sounds.

Over the next 24-48 hours, there will hopefully be enough clues and evidence to figure out a proper course and also what the possible scenarios are. Give it time. Most of the world does not move at internet lightening speeds.

My Girlfriend left here (Texas) on the 14th to visit her home town (Tennessee) with her sister for personal reasons. Anyway turns out she never showed up and just found out they found her car 30 miles out of town with the back of the car wrecked and all the windows busted out. Shes not been reported at the hospital and there are no signs of them anywhere.

I have no idea what to do.

I know! Post on Gaf!

If this turns out to be a scam and the girlfriend just wanted to play the OP, I hope GAF has a special dispensation for internet detectivery as that girl would need to get owned to an epic degree for doing this to him. That said, compared to other possible scenarios this would probably be a lot better :(

I am still hoping for the best for you, OP. Hang in there!

ok we get it
It's the GAF way to berate people for discussing anything of importance happening to them whatsoever. Whereas if your girlfriend tells you she just wants to be friends or a cat is attempting to play a keyboard, well, that's prime thread makin material right there

Wow, thank God we are all made of iron and no one ever needs to vent with no one.

Of course the first thing the OP did was posting on GAF. Only then he waited for the thread to reach 4 pages and then call the police!

Fuck off.

Strange story.

Something is up, why would the friend "go out searching" instead of trying to call you to see if she left yet (did she have your number before?)? Its very odd that they located the crashed up car before the highway patrol.

Does your girlfriend do drugs? She could of been high, crashed the car and fled the scene to avoid getting busted. Does she have insurance/driver license? I could see someone leaving the scene if they where driving illegally or something.

I would try and contact the friend again and seriously grill her. Then call the local cops and see if you can confirm any of the story she is telling you.

I should throw out that I have first hand experience with this kind of stuff as well, just not as drastic. I had an ex who starting disappearing without warning after a few months of dating. We'd make plans to meet up, and she would never show. I'd call, no answer. Text, no answer. I'd wait an hour and call again, still nothing. Wait till the end of the night, still nothing. Sometimes she would go several days where I would have no clue as to what the fuck was going on and if she was ok. Suddenly she'd reappear and act like I was being a child for worrying about her. Ended up being her feeling overwhelmed by the speed of our relationship and panic running to hide every so often.

People act strangely when it comes to relationships.

Aww, that was your "fuck yeah" moment of the day, wasn't it?

Anonymity sure brings out the scum.

PXG already beat him to the "douchebag of the thread" award.

It doesnt feel right to be a spectator to this as it happens. I hope the OP is taking care of his shit and is not worried about giving us a play by play.

He said the back of the car was the part that was smashed which makes it sound less likely (though not impossible) to be a single-car accident.

I don't know. The first time I took a trip down to the South, one of the first things I noticed was that there were several abandoned cars along the interstate highway.

In any case, I agree that it is strange that the friend would go out searching the highways, and that the speculation can be put to rest by the OP calling the police.

EDIT: Posted before I saw the OP's update.

Yeah OP.. I think we need to invoke the internet rule where you need to tell us now if you are fucking with us.

I really really hope you are.

That doesn't necessarily mean anything in the south. When I lived in Georgia and South Carolina, I noticed this all the time and asked around about it. Turns out it's common for people to park their cars like that if they are going fishing nearby and other outdoors stuff. Some cars are really abandoned from breakdowns but many are just left parked there with the owners not too far away.

Hold on. Where did you get this information? News source, friend or police?

Ya, Maybe i'm not familiar with this sort of thing. But do they announce a victim has been raped on the spot? Figured that's something they'd get to later. Really hope this is all ruse for your sake, otherwise coondolences.
