I think it's quite unlikely that there are any changes/improvements aside from the graphics as they literally call it a Remaster. I can't think of any Remaster in the past few years that was more than a new coat of paint. Hell, Crash Trilogy even had like the same controls as a PSone game.
I actually feel like that is less likely (though entirely possible). Why put so much work in to the remaster and not fix some common complaints about the game? Some on the changes could be back ported from Skyrim, like the archery mechanics.

Og leaks mentioned some qol changes for stamina, blocking, bow combat etc. Will see soon anyway

I sooo hope this comes out tomorrow. This will be a Day 1 purchase on my PS5 Pro. Unreal Engine 5 is pretty tough on base PS5, so I'm glad I upgraded to the pro Day 1.

Although I'm physical only since last year, I'm willing to make an exception here and there for games like this one. 8D

If you want to put it real simple, Skyrim is Oblivion with much better world and dungeon design but a much worse quest design and writing. So if quests are important to you, boy, you are in for a treat. Not only are all the major guilds quest lines longer and better but there are so many random quests going on that will just blow your mind.

Downside is that the main world looks quite similar everywhere and so do many of the dungeons. So it depends on where you have your preferences.

Oblivion also has one of the worst leveling systems in gaming history. I agree the writing is far better though in Oblivion. Plus the music is generally superior to Skyrim in my opinion.

God please have the level scaling be fixed. It kinda sucks when you have to meta game the leveling just to not screw yourself over, the more you leveled the less powerful you felt, the fuck a street site bandit doing with glass armour taking minutes to kill... It really neuters the fun you have with the OG game later on.

Being a shadow drop doesn't confirm a date. It just seems there was a date that could have changed.
Because reliable insiders like Jeff Grubb and Nate said it. These are people with reliable track record, especially Jeff. Plus today we are getting a lot of sudden leaks like steamdb stuff, which means its getting closer to imminent release

There was never a date, that's the principle of a shadow drop: we don't know. Grubb first said it would happen on the 21st, then quickly corrected himself by saying it was the week of the 21st. But the headlines are stupid and jumped on the 21st date.
It could be tomorrow, but there is nothing sure.

I remember hitting like level 25 or 30'i think? And just started running into Minotaurs on the roads between cities that would one shot me lmao. As a youngster I couldn't figure out what the fuck happened. 100% agree with you here.

Same here, can't complete the main quest as my lv 25 was broken. I put the difficulty level at the easiest and it wasn't fun anymore. I'll need a guide to level up my character on this remaster.

I'm still in vacation tomorrow, that would be great! Otherwise, trying completing KCD1 before launching KCD2 (I feel this game could be better than Oblivion remaster...).

That's sort of my point. I want it to be true and lean toward it being likely, but I'm not sure when these reliable insiders recieved the drop date. Was that release date forecasted from 6 months ago? 2 years? Last month?

The SteamDB page associated with the game seems to have been added to the system as early as 2023.

Id say Grubb's track record is more akin of ''even a broken clock gets it right twice a day''.

Lmao yeah I remember my first character when I was fooling around forever in the sewers and only did side quests and other minor things and slept and leveled up whenever I could. When I finally started doing some proper quests out in the the real world it was like playing a Souls game before that was even a thing lol

But idk I think they should keep it as it was. Or at least keep it that way as a difficulty setting. Changing it would mean making it too easy for hardcore gamers, I remember people complaining at how casual Skyrim was compared to Oblivion and even more so Morrowind.

But it doesn't even make lore sense, why are ragtag bandits all of a sudden in high level gear, or being replaced by other creatures. Morrowind did not have this problem though I believe it had some sort of scaling, but in no way that aggressive. You felt more powerful in Morrowind the more you leveled which is not the case in Oblivion. There are other ways to solve this, many other games have.

I remember playing oblivion on release on 360. Id just picked up my first hd tv. A 28 inch samsung lcd. When I left the underground sewer thing for the first time and there was a whole world to explore it was an amazing moment.
I remember feeling actual fear of what might be round every corner. Good times Good times.
Probably never get that feeling g in gaming ever again.

Yeah, it's because Morrowind is the superior game in terms of design and mechanics. Sadly Oblivion is the big "mainstream appeal" gear shift at Bethesda as well as the seemingly built in fear of saying "no" to the player, so we end up with this terrible level scaling, gutting of that awesome UI Morrowind had, amongst other things. I still love this game, but it has issues and this is a big one.

Think about items and item placement - in Morrowind most of these loots and whatnot are placed with specific intent, whereas in Oblivion most items are populated in randomly generated chests based on scaled results, ie removing impact of specific items as well as creating the generic result you feel when playing.

You are correct in terms of the "feeling of progression" is actually palpable in Morrowind - many of the things people complain about with Morrowind are partly by intention, ie missing enemies with terrible weapon skill, etc. It reflects your skills! I would much rather have an awful chance to hit an enemy when I have low skill than the spongey combat we ended up with in Oblivion. The extremes are so much more pronounced, for example you begin with such slow movement speed (unless you start with the Steed, which would help a lot), but by the end and if you pump those related stats or use magic, you move like lightning. While you do move much faster (and even jump on water!) in Oblivion by the end, the opposites are much less extreme in terms of the experience. Of course, in Skyrim, athletics and acrobatics are just nuked.
