I remember playing oblivion on release on 360. Id just picked up my first hd tv. A 28 inch samsung lcd. When I left the underground sewer thing for the first time and there was a whole world to explore it was an amazing moment.
I remember feeling actual fear of what might be round every corner. Good times Good times.
Probably never get that feeling g in gaming ever again.
I had an FX5200 nvidia card that wasn't officially supported (the game would run at 5fps, so someone made a mod called "Oldblivion", it made the game look like shit but it allowed me to play through it. Now I have a 4080 Super and hopefully 1440p all maxed out with dlss is achievable at 60fps :D

No one is a bigger Oblivion fan than I. Morrowind on Xbox was mind melting but I was too naive in the ways of the world to progress the main quest, then Oblivion was like my home/planet for an entire summer, then Skyrim came out and lacked the vibes.

No, never a bigger fan and a more perfectly timed game than Oblivion.

It was a thing, that's for sure, even though coming off of Morrowind I felt like it was terribly generic. Morrowind was one of the most interesting, straight-up alien worlds I've ever inhabited.

I was disappointed Oblivion never came close to giving me that sense of wonder. And the NPCs were weird robo-marionettes that were super offputting.

But it doesn't even make lore sense, why are ragtag bandits all of a sudden in high level gear, or being replaced by other creatures. Morrowind did not have this problem though I believe it had some sort of scaling, but in no way that aggressive. You felt more powerful in Morrowind the more you leveled which is not the case in Oblivion. There are other ways to solve this, many other games have.
Oblivion Bandits are on another level, they rob Daedras inside Oblivion Gates to get their armor and weapons. A Bandit with Glass armor/Daedra armor/weapon could even kill Dremora Lords 1v1 if you managed to encounter a battle like that or if you summoned a Dremora Lord to watch them fight.

I know, really. As decked out as they all are, they aren't "bandits" anymore - might as well sell all their EQ and retire to some villa. :pie_gsquint:

It's my favourite game and I'm so keen to get back in again.
I loved shivering isles sooo much too.

Glad I did not buy the horse armour though. That started the downfall of gaming.
Though to be fair to Oblivion it would've come some way or another and it was actually priced at a reasonable price compared to what you might pay for a spray paint these days.

My wife is quite averse to this. She loved the original game and still holds it dear, but she was put off by the screenshot.

She said she felt it didn't have the same vibrant feel and she's worried they'll change too much of the gameplay, clunkiness and all.

I plan to get it anyway. I'm hoping the screens that leaked don't show the whole picture when it comes to how colorful the original game was and hopefully will still be.

Oblivion was the first game I'd ever played in ES. My friend brought his 360 to my house and I did the intro and got into the world.

I remember being astounded by the world and I said to him "Okay, where do I go?" and his response was "Whereever you want". It was mind blowing to me at the time and I felt Shenmue was the most "open world" I'd played to that point.

I went and got an Xbox 360 that night with a copy of the game.

Probably one of my favorite games of all time. Skyrim was a good follow up but something about oblivion always kept me coming back. I'm very very interested to see what they have decided to change and what they decided to keep.

Microsoft always releases as the "new day" begins. Which for eastern America is 1 hour and change

Will that be the case here?!

If not then I'm betting for the reveal to happen during the ESO direct planned for Thursday.

I'm going to bed, with the hope that I awake with a new version of Oblivion to play 🤞

Game Pass page is showing on console for some users after they change region to NZ.

I tried this and it didn't work for me :(

My bum ass will be turning my Xbox on to download this before I go to work in the morning if it does drop in like an hour or so.

What if Bethesda reveals and drops Oblivion remake and also shows/gives update the next Elder Scrolls? Imagine!

But 11 ET is 1am my time. I would prefer if I could preload and then play when I wake up, rather than wake up and set 120GB download.

Sure, I get that. But the game hasn't even technically been announced yet. More than likely it's gonna be announced and released at the same time tomorrow.

Can't exactly offer a pre-load for something that shouldn't technically exist yet.
