JennY Hyun (not the songwriter for Girls Generation) does not like black people

This is a really dumb question, but relates to the "yellow mamba" post above mine. Why is it OK to call Caucasians white and Africans black, but not Asians yellow?

Something that's always confused me.

And in reference to Mayweather's comments on Pacman

In terms of Mayweather, his racism is well documented. Although I'd snidely point out a black player who went to a big school, was undrafted, rode the bench, then suddenly became a star would certainly be news if he had been adopted by a white family as a kid. There would be a blockbuster Oscar bait film in production too.
Hahaha, yup!

How much love did Gilbert get when he rose to stardom?

not surprising, espeically the older generations in korea still maintain quite racial stereotypical views on race. Unfortunately there aren't many korean films that deal with race, however this film is worth a watch:

Bandhobi

this is just one of those extreme cases of racism, I doubt anyone would be that vocal in korea. It's a hidden problem I guess, surge of immigration leads to multiculturalism and some koreans may not see it as a positive or are opposed to the whole idea.

This bitch is psychotic. She says she doesn't hate black people after spewing a bunch of racist shit, then proceeds to say killing off black people would be for the good of humankind, yeahhhhhh, not a racist indeed.

I jjust looked at her twitter feed.

This girl needs her ass kicked. Not on behalf of black people, but on behalf of the entire human race.

What a worthless piece of shit this girl is. She has no business working in any kind of entertainment industry around people. This girl is straight up poison if you're trying to sell an entertainment product to anyone.

In her eyes, she's not racist. She's just speaking the truth that everyone is too afraid to say, maaaaaaan.

I hate when racists pull that shit, like they can't fathom that not everybody is as obsessed with color as they are.

Notice that the link about Taeyeon that was posted earlier does not have links to sources, audio clips, or translation with her original words at all. The comment that she actually made was mistranslated, mutated, and passed around until it became the ridiculous "translation" that is featured on that page.
Funny how you typed out all of this without even providing the "original" translation.

i never imagined bengali and korean together, especially in a movie. now i really gotta track this down

People with very little contact with other races generally see only the worst qualities of those people. It's just ignorance, it should inspire only pity not worth getting angry about

Koreans are pretty racist. My family reminds me of this frequently.

This.

I was on a plane as it was moments before taking off and two young Korean girls were politely asked if they could move seats (they were in the front section of the plane with extra leg room) because this old black guy and his wife had really sore legs and needed the extra leg room. They refused to move even though they were told they'd have to delay the flight and possibly evacuate the plane.

Pathetic! Me and my cousin had to step us and volunteer.

This doesn't nessesarily mean they were racist. People can be dicks about their stupid plane seat no matter what race

Some are overly sensitive on race. Between my asian friends and I (I'm of mixed heritage), talking about 'yellow skin' is common. Overly Americanized asians are jokingly referred to as Twinkies. Talk to people from mainland China and their use is even more flagrant and not politically correct.

jokingly referred to? twinkies is on the same line as oreo, and i doubt there are laughs when someone is being referred to as one.

Funny how you typed out all of this without even providing the "original" translation.

Quoted from Dice
She says:
Hangeul: 흑인 친구 정말 너무 예쁜 저
Romanized: Hugin chingu jeongmal nomu yeppeun cho
Transliterated: Black[person] friend really[truly] too[very much] pretty I
Translation: My black friend is really very pretty, I think.

There is no room for anything else in that little bit she said. Even with the completely open design of Korean insofar as word arrangement goes, the meaning is completely clear and simple.

In response the other dude goes:
Hangeul: 맞아요 맞아요
Romanized: Majayo majayo
Translated: That's right/True, true

No awkwardness or hesitation.

And the audio can be found at http://web.archive.org/web/20090221131810/http://leegy.egloos.com/4815021 It's the quicktime player below the pictures of SNSD.

Other asians? To one another? Specifically, my group of Asian-American, middle class friends, which are a varying mix of 1st and 2nd generation Americans.

jokingly referred to? twinkies is on the same line as oreo, and i doubt there are laughs when someone is being referred to as one.
You're right. The laughs we've shared over decades using the term with each other to one another hides seething resentment and shame.

I just looked up this girl's twitter, and she is probably clinically insane. She writes all sorts of crazy shit that isn't even related to racism.

i find it hard to believe that someone would be this fucking dumb and throw their career away via twitter.

surely, someone must've hacked her accounts. all of them.

surely.

so you jokingly refer to your friends as twinkies? And they find that to be funny huh?

It makes me sad that some people can really think so low of me based off the color of my skin. As if I had any choice in my ethnicity or melanin that's in my skin.

It really sucks to be despised before I can even smile, open my mouth and greet someone with warmth and friendliness.

Such is the state of humanity I suppose :(

those comments are brutal lol

lol - a world without Black people means you wouldn't have this mariah song to cover, honey.. next time you need to think your racist delusions through a bit more

i'm a korean-american, and i would like to publicly denounce the drivel that came spewing out this hideous and worthless whore's mouth. we frown down upon this racist POS, and would like to collectively disown this bitch.

Whew child! They are PAYIN IT to her in the comments for that video!

Must be different with asians, or at least that dude's group of friends...I don't think many black people like being called oreos...
I never quite got the whole "oreo" thing. I always thought cupcakes where a more appropriate, non-politically correct way of saying "black on the outside, white on the inside." Cupcakes are much more in line with twinkies too. I'm hungry.

I thought the term was Banana.

BTW: Here is the Floyd Mayweather thread: "Floyd Mayweather Jr is a racist piece of shit"
As you can see, people defended that shit. "Aww, that's tame for boxing." "Ali said worse." "It's boxing, they are supposed to shit-talk."
I remembered reading that thread and then talking with a coworker who defended it with the same type of shit. Ridiculous...

Anyway, this chick is dumb.
Not terrible looking though. I wouldn't marry her dumb, bigoted ass or anything.

Yeah, but that's the minority of people judging you, not the majority. A very small group of people, that is growing smaller everyday.

Not sure if racism will ever be completely left behind, but I think that if we're seeing less and less of it everyday, then it's a start.

Never understood why people post their ignorant views on the internet for everybody to see especially when it can cost them their job. Is it just pure stupidity that needs no explanation or something more? Someone help me make sense of this!

so you jokingly refer to your friends as twinkies? And they find that to be funny huh?
They're more often to refer to me as a twinkie since I'm mixed, and no, I'm deeply wounded by the term and find it disparaging at a base level. It's stunted the development of my own cultural identity for decades.

Actually, couldn't give any less fuck over it, and neither do my friends. We're not sensitive when it comes to discussing race since we all come from a mixture and range of diverse backgrounds. That seems to bother you - why?

The words themselves carry little meaning for us. It's the invective behind it that should be an issue.
