Jerry Seinfeld says Who's Kesha?? No hugs for you!

Since when did we become a society of huggers? We hug for everything nowadays. "Hello" - hug; "Congratulations" - hug; "Nice haircut" - hug. It's absurd. I mean, if we want to express real emotion for someone - I mean, where is there left to go?

O, wait, wrong show. I really can't see how anyone could not side with Jerry on this one though.

If you don't know who ke$ha is I'm not convinced you've ever had true fun in your life...;)

I like hugs with nearly anyone friendly, but I'm latino and we hug and kiss as a greeting to people.

She will forever have more relevance, talent and success than your whole failure of a family could ever dream of achieving.

Pop-GAF was a mistake.

With Jerry being a germaphobe, I can't really say I blame him. Random strangers (no matter how well-known they are to others) asking for hugs is no bueno.

It's a Frasier quote, this incident just reminded me of it ;). If you're talking about the second part of my post; I'm sure you can still see how people might not want a hug even if you're big on hugs yourself.

I have a vague idea of who Kesha is, but can't put a face on her, only thing i know is she's some relevant popular artist right now.

I know who Seinfeld is, and can recognize his face, but my understanding of who Seinfeld is amounts to "has been who had a popular show in the 90s and whose comedy struggles to stay relevant".
You think Seinfeld, one of the biggest comedians in the world, is struggling to stay relevant?

Seinfeld doesn't have to struggle to do anything. The dude is almost worth a billion dollars, and only does what he wants to do.

You have avocado toast for breakfast, don't you?

I often wonder what is thread worthy and what is not thread worthy, but Jerry Seinfeld ducking a hug as almost 300 post... go figure.

I wouldn't mind being a "has been" who "struggles to stay relevant" if I had a net worth of $800+ million like Jerry does.

I'm sure you are probably a fart in the wind to him as well.

Is this *really* what you want for yourself?

Insulting an entire family on a whim because you're a fan of someone who doesn't even know you exist?

The 90s are done.
And yet, Seinfeld rejecting a hug is still news. And Larry David, who is reviving Curb for another season, still has massive popularity with a show that explores the exact same neuroses.

Doesn't really matter what year it is, it's still a pretty huge cultural phenomenon.

JESUS

She'd be more sad if her limo ran 15 minutes late than if that poster died a slow and painful death and they still step up to bat

If you don't want to hug someone, you don't want to hug them. It's kind of an intimate thing if you think about it, not that it ever really bothers me when a stranger does it, but still.

Just made him seem like he has a stick up his ass tbh.

Is that a bad thing now? It's not like he was rude, or demeaning. A man didn't want to hug a random weird looking person on a red carpet. I'm pretty sure he's earned the right to turn down that kind of hug without backlash. It's not like he called her names or is back peddling.

I don't even think that is a right you have to earn. If you don't want to hug someone then you don't have to.

It has f*** all to do with having a stick up your ass. I don't want to be hugged by random people either.

I agree with you. By no means should anyone feel obligated to hug someone. Just saying that Jerry should be off limits and he should be the one that starts a greeting. Maybe I'm just putting him up on a celebrity royalty pedestal. Not to mention it's kind of weird for anyone to greet a stranger with a hug and not a handshake.

I'm just old I guess.

Elaine: You denied a hug?
Jerry: Denied!
Kramer: You can't deny the hug, Jerry!
Jerry: I can and I did.
George: I don't get a lot of hugs. <sips coffee>

Defending against someone calling Mariah Carrey washed up using a gif of her selling sunglasses for $30 on HSN...

I am just trying to imagine the responses to this if the she was giving the interview and Nicholas Cage tried to run up and give her a hug. I suspect It would be a lot less "it was just a hug" comments and more "what a creeper!" comments.

People defending Pop singers is the most humiliating thing in the world , far worse than defending a console.

The lack of self esteem is big on those ones.

Seinfeld did fine , who hugs strangers that way.

This is a typical Jerry Seinfeld move. She should have known better, she made it an awkward situation for the both of them. Jerry doesn't act like this because he wants to be funny, he's simply not a fan of people in general.

Good job, let's make this about double standards. Quite the accurate scenario you've just mad eup.
