Jez Corden: There are presently no plans to cancel any upcoming Xbox hardware.

It is dramatically different. Whenever Jez speaks about the industry and particularly Xbox related there are pages and pages of derision, often attacks on him personally and professionally. Given the context of that excessive hate, no my pointing out that Sneakers isn't always correct is not remotely in the same league.
Any mistakes from Jez are highlighted and reposted endlessly because of his strong links to the Xbox brand and senior staff. If Sneakers were making more positive claims about Xbox and its future you better believe his credibility would be strongly challenged on this forum.

There's a stark difference between being more positive about Xbox in an honest capacity, versus being a blind fanboy & shill who will spin up FUD and cap for the worst of Microsoft's decisions if it means "sticking it" to PlayStation.

And Jez isn't even the worst of that ilk; dudes like SoloKingRobert Florian Mueller, Post-Up, Destin, Ryan McCaffery, Boomstick (tho they're very upset about the Game Pass stuff, TBF) have been more egregious with it for a while. But Jez has one of the biggest platforms among them; hasn't stopped him from being an Xbox bootlicker most of the time.

Both worded it in a way they can't be wrong, except for timdong who continues to be an embarassment

But Jez has been hilariously wrong a staggering number of times the past two years vs. someone like Sneakers, who is at least on level of Nate Drake/Matt etc. and for Xbox stuff, maybe just a notch below Gestridens at worst.

At some point, track records have to come into play, not just who's saying the things we want to hear :/

He certainly is titanic, dude has bigger tits than my wife

This is either that there were never any real plans for hardware, or (more likely) that the people that would actually know would never tell Jez if it was true, because why would you let the first way of communicating that be Jez?

UPDATE FROM MICROSOFT

UPDATE (Oct 5, 2025): Microsoft has provided the following statement, echoing our previous report: "We are actively investing in our future first-party consoles and devices designed, engineered and built by Xbox. For more details, the community can revisit our agreement announcement with AMD."

Future first party consoles reconfirmed by Microsoft.

UPDATE FROM MICROSOFT

Future first party consoles reconfirmed by Microsoft.

Random-ass statement on the rumor on a random Sunday afternoon.

This can't be a real company 🤣

Also correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Microsoft issue a similar statement of denial after the first rumors of ports to PlayStation started circulating on the internet? I could be misremembering that though, FWIW.

People are free to discuss as they wish but when a titan of an industry insider like Jez Corden informs us that MS have no plans to cancel any upcoming Xbox hardware it is incumbent on all of us to listen.

Obviously some people will have their own motivations to cast aspersions on Jez's credibility. But for now anyone who is eagerly anticipating exciting next generation Xbox hardware can rest easily.
Surely this is a joke right, right??

You can literally hear Bond's internal screaming looking at this image.

Also. Branston > M&S >>>> Heinz (wattery bollocks)

Terminally online + obese + diet consisting of canned food (beans in his case) = I don't think that's a dude with good hygiene.

Bond on the other hand = hard would
(the MS exec, not the famous spy)

Also the fact Microsoft commented on this at all, validates there is substance/truth to the original rumor (and what other people online have been saying since the rumor broke). Even if MS for whatever reason decides to put out another traditional Xbox console (it wouldn't do very well in sales; their credibility with gamers & their base ATM is worst than SEGA's was at the end of Saturn IMHO), we now know for a fact they WERE at least considering exiting the hardware space altogether at some point, rather recently.

And that could still end up happening, since discussions are ongoing. But if MS themselves say no-go to putting out their own hardware, to just let OEMs build console-like PCs and implement Windows + the new UI frontend, then that is another option, all things considered.

UPDATE: Full article.

In light of the @SneakersSO rumors about the validity of the next Xbox. The successor the Series X, Xbox "Melrose" is still slated for 2027.

Jez is also currently investigating rumors of an Xbox OEM PC launching in 2026.

I am sure there will be some sort of hardware for sure considering Magnus chip was leaked. But since it specs are too good for console, it could be an Xbox laptop or mini PC, entry level Xbox PC

J leading the way with some proper journalism. If only more people in the industry followed his lead. Rumours, gossip innuendo- no. There's no replacement for asking tough searching questions to trusted sources.

Frankly, there's nothing more to discuss here.
Because he is incredibly well connected, trusted and hugely respected both in and outside of Xbox? Perhaps for those reasons?
Jesus Christ dude, I get that you Xbox fanboys gotta try to stick together but take the dudes dick out of your mouth for a moment.

Jez has been wrong before and he's always very clearly had a clear bias. It's not hard to take every single thing he says with a huge grain of salt, but shutting down all discussion because he says it's wrong is fucking asinine.

Who plans to cancel something like hardware? Either you do, or you don't.

Anyone doing up hardware would have some kind of exit strategy but that's different than cancelation
Yeah, nobody plans to cancel anything that they've spent time and money on. You always have some sort of worst case scenario in mind like you said but you never plan on it going so badly you have to just cancel it.

SEGA sure as hell didn't go into the Dreamcast thinking they were going to cancel it and go third party but they did. It's just the way it goes down.

It's not like Xbox lie about their plans, right?
Right?
It's not just Xbox but Microsoft in general. Microsoft is a terrible company and always has been and lying about shit is just the beginning of it.

Actually wait. I believe him. Just look at him. 100% trustworthy face there.
.....
I try my best to not judge people based on their appearances but I always forget how gross this guy is. It's not even just the weight (he very well could have a health reason) but it's the greasy ass hair that just grosses me out and the beard.

I can't help but to be reminded of something my coworker says though. "Are you fat because you are disabled, or are you disabled because you are fat?"

Also, completed SOCs can 100% be cancelled right before release. So can entire system designs. The Amiga CD32's American launch was cancelled when systems got held up in some other country and the company had to file for bankruptcy. SEGA cancelled the Neptune even though the design was complete and ready to go into mass manufacturing. The Atari Panther was cancelled even though its design was complete and ready to launch, simply to push the Jaguar instead. The Jaguar 2 was cancelled even though prototype systems of the completed spec were made. The Panasonic M2 was cancelled even though system designs were complete and some early models were already made (plus Konami making an arcade board based off of it).
Not really, there's a reason the examples you gave are all from 30+ years ago. SoC development can cost up to a billion nowadays, even a massive company like Microsoft is not going to throw that away for no reason.
