Going next week prolly to it. First week/premiere days are usually full of loud and retarded people. Also prolly gonna go to a private/vip screening with friends where theres rarely anyone there.
I was a little late to the series, I watched 1 and 2 back to back a bit before 3 came out. So I'd heard all this hype about how good they are and wondered if it could live up to that. Glad to say that they did. They're definitely worth checking out. Each of the three takes place directly after each other. So if you plan to watch them over a short period then they will flow well.
I'm in the same boat. The thought of almost THREE HOURS of Wick is terrifying. Either it is non-stop action played to death and exhausting me, or it's more of the "mythology" of Wick which is, quite frankly, pretty shite. I LOVED 1, enjoyed 2, but 3 felt waaaaaaaaaaay padded out and I fear 4 will be more of the same. Hapy to be wrong though and I'll definitely catch it on streaming somewhere.
Whoever named Chapter 3 was hoping for the series to eventually get into the Fast and Furious franchise level of sequel inconsistent naming insanity, but clearly the people who named Chapter 4 weren’t going to tolerate such shenanigans.
Seeing it tonight! All the out of theater reactions have been absolutely glowing with a lot of them saying it's the best in the series. That's a high bar and I'm very curious how they've managed to top the prior 3.
The IMDB credits overview says it all:
Cast (32)
Stunts (96)
It was long but whenever anything goes on too long it shifts to some new insane set piece so it never gets dull. Keanu is starting to show his age a bit but it's working as John Wick is taking a hell of a beating most of the time.
And screw that Ballerina prequel thing, give me a movie with just Scott Adkins in a fat suit and German accent!
Big thumbs up. Best since the original. Excellent set pieces and duels, great use of action stars in supporting roles. Doesn’t drag at all despite the runtime.

I actually watched 2 and 3 back to back after the first one exhausted me, and oddly enough, I had no problems watching it. They do a great job with the supporting cast and twists. The Dogs setpiece with Halley Barry was so much fun to watch.
Warning for those who have yet to see it: Take the washroom break before the movie. It's almost 3 hours in length and I couldn't think of a moment where one could have the time to leave, use the washroom, come back, and not miss something cool.
I'm just back from the cinema here in Germny (sorry for the bad english) and I'll share my first impressions with you...no spoilers:
The film is a feast for action fans! There are a lot ...A LOT of action scenes, some of which I never have seen before. Of course you have to hand over your brain at the box office and you can't compare this movie to the more "realistic" action of Die Hard or Heat...but that's not the style of John Wick. I've always thought of the series as a "video game for the silver screen" of sorts, so I've always enjoyed it!
The story and the villain are particularly interesting this time and lead the series to a very successful conclusion. Might be the best villian in the hole series.
I don't think there is an action series that delivers such consistent quality. What the stunt people have come up with here is remarkable and a highlight of western action cinema! Right now only my favorits from Jackie Chan or films like The Raid 1+2, Ong Bak or the "heroic bloodshed movies" like Hard Boiled can top the action of John Wick.
Is the movie too long? Not really, I thought the pacing was good. Keanu is as motivated as ever and his agility is still there....and he is wooden as ever
Are some scenes repetitive? Yes, but these scenes are the hallmark of the series and you can't completely reinvent every scene in 4 films. Some scenes were over the top (even by John Wick standards) some were a tad too long. But in the end they have created a great film that never gets boring with some outstanding designed action sequences. The Many new locations are beautifully filmed, everything looks stylish and is wrapped in rich neon light, and the camera work always catches the brutal action. Its a feast for the eyes!
A highlight for me was the character of Donnie Yen, "Caine". His backstory is simple but his motivation brings enough excitement to the story and for me he is now one of my favorite characters in the whole series. As always, Donnie Yen did a fantastic job. "The Tracker" was also a welcome change. I don't really understand why some people don't like this character. He brought a breath of fresh air to the film.
I have to watch all the movies again, but for now, John Wickt Chapter 4 is a 8/10 and the second best in the series.
Go to the cinema, it's worth it!
Best scenes:
- first real action scene at the Osaka Continental
- "Hotline Miami Scene"
- Arc de Triomphe car scene
Did they imply the Tracker is a greater fighter than Wick?
in the end when he could of shot John walking up the stairs but didn't and killed the goon insted? was that implying that he was a superior combatant than John?
My scores for the franchise thus far. Yes the Gun-Fu is neat but everything else surrounding the action is piss poor in comparison. Not sure why it takes itself so serious all the time either, tonally it's just bizarre at times.
That said I did end up liking each consecutive release a lot more than the previous so perhaps I will finally actually enjoy a John Wick movie?
Just got out of a packed IMAX theater. This movie was like a religious experience. Certainly some of the best action and stunt work I've ever seen on film. Those 3 hours flew by.
The overhead, dragon-breath shotgun sequence was just stunning. Absolutely mindblowing in terms of choreography, camera work and visuals. I almost couldn't believe what I was watching.
In fact, the whole movie is just beautiful to look at. Every scene is visually interesting, the fights are innovative and exciting, and the performances are great. Donnie Yen pretty much stole the whole movie for me.
The audience really loved it. Lots of cheers, laughs and even some applause.

No, I don't think so at least. He said something like 'Are you a tracker' in the film. His strength was finding people, and possibly sniping, he had the dog to help in hand to hand/CQC. Wick can do it all, and was portrayed as the better combatant.
I feel like I would spoil the general positive vibes in the thread If I dumped all my issues with the movie here, so instead
I liked:
- There was a very nice flow in all the action scenes, it kept the runtime away from my mind throughout
- Hand to hand combat was beautifully done
- They didn't feel the need to overexplain the rules or get even more complex with the laws of the association, we got just enough to move to the next scene each time
- The two new supporting characters were cool
- Deadpool 2 (I think) and hotline miami references were cool
- Surprisingly funny at many points
That fire rounds scene was batshit crazy . The only thing that bugged me in this chapter is that it's the worst "no reloading" offenser I think I've seen in my whole life
