Basically calling Johnny Depp a wife beater is justified.

I would say the current main studios he works with, Disney and Warner Bros will cut ties with him.

Hes currently filming the next Fantastic Beasts

Awful result, but in context of what the case was about it's possibly right.

It was about whether the Sun was justified in calling him a wife beater and unfortunately all they had to prove is that he had at some time hit her. Unfortunately Heard's abuse of him wasn't what was being judged and for all there is ample and damning evidence that she did indeed abuse him (mentally and physically) that didn't absolve him of being called a wife-beater for hitting her. So, the audio tapes were thrown out as was a lot of the stuff against her.

Nick Wallis has laid out the judges statment on Twitter:



There's also some strange choices from the Judge like discounting Police statements and oral testimony from one based on their having no notebook notes and discounting Depps employee statments becuase they were employed by him while simultanously accepting statements from Heard's witnesses who stood to gain financially.

Personally, I think it's an awful result that further cements the bias against male victims of domestic violence and has enabled a god-awful abuser (Heard) to get away with and profit from her vile behaviour.

Oh yeah this case was about if SUN is allowed to call him a wife beater. The actual case Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard is next year.

This is insanity. How on earth isn't it relevant that in their case, Heard was actually abusing Johnny Depp? The Suns reporting actually made it clear that they were biased to the point of accusing Johnny Depp of being sole aggressor if i'm not mistaken. this isn't journalism.

In my honest opinion this is clean cut defamation!

Because being a victim doesn't preclude you from also being an abuser. They are not mututally exclusive of one another.

The Sun only had to prove that Depp had laid hands on Heard in order to support their claim that he was a "wife beater". As long as their Solicitors could demonstrate that there was some factual basis for their claim then it's not libel. Depp on the otherhand had to prove that he had never done such a thing regardless of circumstances which unfortunately is much harder to do in the scope of such a toxic relationship, alcohol, substance and prescription drug abuse and the apparent fact that he was continually pushed and goaded by his then wife.

One can only hope that the the case of Depp vs. Heard that is being held next year will come out in his favor as that case is actually focussed on the behaviour of Heard rather than whether a reported label was technically accurate.

And The Sun isn't journalism. It's a gutter rag that thrives on half-truths, manipulation and partisan bias. Never trust The Sun as a credible source for anything.

While I understand why the judge through it out, the point of bringing it up in the first place was to show how manipulative she was and how she was very capable of lying. The part of the recording where she says "No one will believe you because I'm a woman" should've been damning towards the idea that he was a wife beater, pointing out that all she had to do was say he hit her and people will believe her. In this case she is proven right as the judge wisk away most evidence against the idea that she was lying and he didn't do it.

But at the same time though, the most recent one of those movies was so incredibly bad it might be a blessing in disguise for him to be bale to bail from that shitty franchise.

Not that all of his movies are good, but the crimes of grindelwald was on a whole other tier of bad.

Likely, he'll never work again. At best it's 2 psychos fucking up each other so who cares, at worst Amber Heard is a monster. But she gets to keep her career and Depp gets blacklisted.
