Is Johnny innocent? No probably not. He's had a drug/alcohol problem for a long time, and getting involved with a toxic person like Amber was the worst thing someone like him could've done. But my personal judgement in all of this is that she is clearly and by a pretty good margin, the worst of the two, and probably brought out some of the worst aspects in him. In short Johnny has done bad things, and so has Amber. But I think there's a difference between someone who's made poor choices in life, and someone who's genuinely a bad person.

This is exactly what I believe and I think most people too. I think JD was abusive, but more on the side of hitting things, but not hitting AH. While AH was a real abuser (physically) her ex GF exprienced this first hand from AH. While JD ex wife, never had that issue. Both have issues, but one was more shit to the other.

Well, the standard for this case is a "reasonable person" so your opinion is extremely relevant. The reason I don't find Amber to be a victim of domestic violence is that she admits to initiating violence against Johnny multiple times. You lose your victim status the moment you start throwing punches, throwing bottles, kicking doors into your partner, etc when that person is only using their words.

How did this psychologist "reorient" Amber to the times when she was with Johnny? Did she play Johnny and hit her? Did she mimic the voice too and was Elaine there mimicking too?
