Since Amazon predicts a Week for this to get to me, I think it's time to start watching the recent anime while I wait! I don't really care about spoilers from the game; Every different style of media offers a different experience, and in a way, the spoilers will just make me want to see the best illustrated moments in their proper form more.
For anything competitive / with online play modes / a limited "hot topic" life, I find it hard to worry about future sales. By the time a sale comes, I'll usually have 10s of hours in a title like this, and got to watch the game grow first-person, with all the new players.
Once something has been out for a while, people have made up their minds on the game, macro-like gameplay sets in for a large amount of the remaining online players, and any discussion or discoveries are old hat.
Most of Namco's sales for me aren't too annoying, because they only happen for a small amount of time (a week?) and then they rarely ever repeat, until possibly during late-year holidays. Less annoying than the Atlus style "Game on sale every 2 weeks!" PSN deals, by far.
Also have to consider what you'll have time for, when the game finally goes on sale. I purchased Xillia when it released, and my brother and I were able to go through it pretty cleanly, even though we got Dragon's Crown at the same time. Yet if I got the game during some big PSN PS+ relevant sales week, during the release of the new consoles, or during some big Vita / XBLA releases, I could have seen it being forgotten after purchase.
I love supporting niche games with Day 1 purchases. It's an easy choice for me, because I generally get so much more time and fun out of them, than many of the big AAA releases. Plus I feel like "1 out of 150k sales" matters so much more than "1 out of 1,200,000 sales", y'know?
Bleh, hearing people talk about how Namco's been giving deep discounts to games months after release (i.e. Tales of Symphonia Chronicles was released in Feb., will be $10 tomorrow on PSN) makes me wonder if I should wait & see if ASB will get discounted as well. Especially when I paid $12.50 for One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 when it's normally $50. I want to support this at launch & get a DLC character, especially considering I figured this wouldn't come to the US, let alone get a physical version, but still...
