Okay, after the first two episodes I am definitely hooked now.

I love how it knows it's all completely ridiculous and then just rolls with it. Dio will kiss your girlfriend and then gloat about it like he is the most evil bastard on the planet.

So I finally started watching the series.

It's been five minutes and the entire life story of Jonathan and Dio's been explained, and then Dio leaped out of a carriage and kicked a dog in the face.

I'm guessing this sets the tone for the entire series?

Sooort of. The antics on Part 2 are more representative of what happens in the entire series overall.
