The end of that movie reminded me of JoJo, with Bond's childhood mansion burning down and everything lol. :/
 
I mean, really, what were the odds that they'd cast Sugita for the game then turn around and cast someone else for the anime? Especially since we knew Kazuyuki Okitsu was Jonathan in both.

Not 0%, I know, but still.

Too bad they can't "confirm" Akio Ohtsuka for the anime yet.

Great to see it in print, though, and the art looks nice.
 
Who's Takuya Sato? Newbie? Why not Nakamura Yuichi for Caesar T_____T

Still can't wait to hear Sugita voicing Joseph, God...

Also, am I the only one that thinks that it would've been amusing/awesome if they had use Guile's and Rose's VAs for Stroheim and Lisa Lisa? XD

Oh, and as expected, new opening. Hell yeah, hope it's just as awesome. Should we assume the ending will still be Roundabout since there's no mention of a new one?
 
I'm surprised about the new OP.

The Opening Song seems like it'd work for all of the series, so I thought they were going to keep it and change out the ED instead.

They have to use Guile for Stroheim, Stroheim is cited as Guile's Inspiration.

That's his only major anime role. He also played Weiss in Agarest 2, and was the dub voice of Bill Weasley as well as the title character in Kick-Ass.
 
Episode 7

Good episode, but last week was definitely the peak of Phantom Blood so far. Still there were some pretty good scenes, and I'm impressed with the way some of them were handled in terms of now really needing to be obviously censored but still feeling really brutal. So I guess this is it then. We're in the final stretch. After next week, we should be moving to the land of opportunity with Sugita! :D

Oh, and the seamless ED transitions continue to rock. The music direction is SO GOOD. Lol.

Oh maaaan, I can't wait. I knew some of the small things that happened in part 1 but I'm going into part 2 completely blind.

Looks like my predictions for the episodes' pacing are about right so far. Without a doubt this is ending on ep9.

How many eps. can we assume Part 2 will be if they keep up the pace? It'd suck if they dragged Part 2 out for the remaining 17 eps @_@.
...and any word on if there'll be more eps.?
 
Well, if Phantom Blood ends at 9, I imagine Battle Tendency is obligated to last 17 episodes. Since there's more action in part 2 I don't think it'll feel dragged out.

As for the other question, not yet, but it seems to be doing fine in BR pre-orders so far, so...
 
This latest episode wasn't as good as the previous few, but I never thought I'd enjoy Phantom Blood this much. I pretty excited to see Battle Tendency. It's a shame the show probably won't sell enough to go beyond that.

So the 6th episode of the Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure anime just came out, and, after seeing some of the comments about Bruford writing the word “PLUCK” on his sword, I feel like I should explain what it means, in case it’s not fully understood:
“Luck & Pluck” is an old phrase that basically refers to the difference between the people who effortlessly obtain what they want through good fortune or illegitimate means (Luck) and the people who have to make their way in life through hard efforts (Pluck). (The meaning of “Pluck” here means “courage or resolution in the face of difficulties”, and not pulling out hairs or whatever. xD) This was a common theme in in old dime novels about people who had their inheritance stolen out from under them, and then had to work hard in order to make a name for themselves again.
Dio tried to cheat his way to fortune, and then later discovered how to become immortal by coincidence, so he represents LUCK. Jojo has to suffer many trials and hardships in life in order to bring about a resolution, so he represents PLUCK. This is why Bruford says to “bear this with you in your future”.
I’m honestly amazed that Araki had ever even heard of “Luck & Pluck”, since most modern English speakers don’t use it at all anymore. It really fits in well with the polarized face vs. heel storytelling of Jojo Part 1, though, for sure.

Is it just me, or are they easing up a bit on the censorship? I mean yeah, there's still lots of obscured stuff, but it seems they're more willing to show gore in general.

The end of episode nine seems pretty clear,
fade into Roundabout again as the ship blows up. Credits roll. Timeskip, SPEEDOWAGON, end.
