Anyone remember when Josh Gad was a correspondent?
Me neither.

god tier: jason jones, mandvi

cringeworthy: bee, the new guy who replaced oliver
Mmmhmm.

Great segment, too.
That's about where their critical thinking skill level is at."Why didn't they just buy all the slaves?" seems like the kind of question a third grader would ask.
The only thing cringeworthy here is how this thread devolved into a ranking of Daily Show correspondents.
Mmmhmm.

She strikes me as the weakest correspondent. I just don't find her funny. :/

Bee ftw
To judge the contestants, Stewart brought on three university professors, from CUNY, UMASS Amherst, and Columbia. How'd it go?
The first question: "Why did Abraham Lincoln start the Civil War?"
Napolitano's answer: "Because he wanted to preserve the union, because he needed the tariffs from the southern states."
Lincoln's answer: "Well they shot first, and you don't mess with Lincoln. All the vampires know what I'm talking about."
Judges: "They shot first, and you don't mess with Lincoln."
I have a story about that I should tell GAF soon.
But feel free to edit the curbstomp out. What would you prefer to use?
Isn't it more of a mutual fall into war? Considering that Lincoln kept military bases in a territory where 9 out of 13 million people thought they were no longer governed by those bases.
That was such an awesome segment, is there an extended version or did we see it all?
Also Jessica Williams is fantastic, she started a bit rocky but now I love her. Never thought to google pics of her tho, hotdamn at that pic above.
Also I'm not sure if the Munn haters actually saw any episodes with her in it? She was fantastic right from her first episode, I don't think people could get past their preconceptions of her and I wasn't surprised when she didn't stick around but seriously, her tiger mum episode was really good.
I don't really feel there is a shortage of synonyms for "bests someone in something."

Just off the top of my head, of course. All of these convey the same vague, "wow he totally owned him" message. If you wish to be more specific to the situation, phrases like "outwits" are appropriate.

What are you referring to here? The Confederacy's total population was around 9 million, and 3.5 million of them were slaves. Almost certainly a majority of people in Confederate territory would not have chosen to secede.
That guy needs to prioritize his morals. He basically said that a war over taxes was necessary and justified but a war over humans forced to be slaves? .. . well we should have just waited that one out, no urgency there.

Replace curbstomp with ether.
Great segment. Definitely need to look up the federal marshals point; I also thought Lincoln had them round up runaway slaves.
Can't trust anyone who doesn't believe the Civil War was a just war. If ending slavery wasn't a just cause worth blood and treasure, I don't know what is.
Oh my.Mmmhmm.

Technically that is "reduced by 1/10th." Not quite the same connotation as the others.
Heh, it's funny that's what I feel about the SNL crew as well (but on a longer time-scale). The classics like Bill Murray, Steve Martin, Eddie Murphy, etc. are now legends. I mean, they're some of the hugest stars, and many of them are great actors as well. After them, no one has reached that kind of popularity, or skill. It is interesting how a bunch of the older correspondents went on to be successful. I can't really imagine any of the current correspondents doing that. The closest is Rob Riggle who just gets bit parts in other comedies like 21 Jump Street.
The only thing cringeworthy here is how this thread devolved into a ranking of Daily Show correspondents.
The true cringeworthy thing is how half the thread is now dedicated to how attractive Williams is.
Mmmhmm.

Maybe tresquinquated would be most appropriate here? Or would that be better as sexagintamated?Technically that is "reduced by 1/10th." Not quite the same connotation as the others.
