True story, as much as I played hours and hours of fighting games at the arcade, I never heard of EVO til I joined Gaf. I would loved to enter at the time SF2, Mortal Kombat 3 & OG KI was around.

Maybe you would've been lucky enough to see DSP, aka the best Super Turbo player in the US, in action.

When my friend talks to me about SFV, I never know wtf he's talking about. The terminology, the jokes.

Totally other level than me. He loves all that. Goes to the EVO shows, etc.
Same here. I lurk the fighting games thread to learn more of the terminology.

I wish. as well as Valle. I loved going to arcades and battle. When ever I visited my grandparents in Northern Cali, I tried to visit Golfland Milpitas. Great competition there.

Wrassle games, Demolition was my tag team to use

When I get home from work today, I'm gonna practice all the different variations of rolling someone up. DM, I hope you wrote your last will and testament.

I mean, I don't want to be like Big Van Vader, but strobogo just showed me this, and it really is truly putrid stuff:

I mean if you look at when he jumps from the corner and then does a few flips before finally landing something, the other person is rolling around trying to dodge it. So he's flipping around until he gets in a spot where he can land it.

It looks really choreographed obviously, but I can see what they're trying to sell.

I humbly request that we not dismiss former World Heavyweight Champion Big Van Vader's thoughts on wrestling psychology just because some of you enjoy watching men's gymnastics.

It's okay to admit what you're watching is bad. I do it all the time

Pride, among many other things in life, is just an illusion holding you back

Vader's just jealous that he can't do indy flippy shit

BVV does this though

Which is actually legitimately terrifying because it's a 450 pound man landing on you. That actually looks like a finishing move, unlike having a 120 lber hit a too cold scorpio flip.

yeah but he's flipping for no actual reasons other than showoff, and also he's compromising his accuracy to land on his opponent

What, no. The rotation adds velocity, resulting in a stronger impact, especially when it's a 450 lb athlete landing on you. It's perfectly psychologically-sound. Shawn Johnson vs. Nastia Liukin doesn't make sense because a) they are very small people, and b) you reach a point of diminishing returns with additional rotations when you only have about 6 feet to cover.
