The Big Show and Orton feuds were much much worse. The Mysterio feud let Punk cut loose and look like a monster, then get his comeuppance (as he should have, because that's how wrestling fucking works). This then lead into Masked Punk, which was awesome until they threw it away for no raisin.
FYI, Rey also "won" the Rhodes feud, but I don't think you'll find anyone who would say that series didn't elevate Rhodes.
