It depends on follow up. If cena jumps right back up than yeah it looks bad but you can also use it as a way to make the loser look good or the winner look deadly as hell. Ziggler got his sleeper over and no one ever tapper to it. They do it in RoH all the time.

I think it only works with Monster Heels when they choose not to pin their opponents and instead choose to beat the crap out of their opponent until the ref stops the match.

Unless your goal is putting over the person refusing to tap, don't do it.
